The famous Australian gaming source Atomic Maximum Power Computing devoted its article to World of Tanks, giving its high appraisal and sharing its impressions of the game.

The gaming source highlighted main game features and gameplay system, pointing out the vast variety of tanks and the progression from tank to tank which follows a pretty complete tech tree of American, German and Russian.

Besides estimating the game itself, Atomic MPC attracts the reader with a vivid comparison of World of Tanks to other game projects, and we are glad to say that World of Tanks wins high score in each parallel!

"It really is amazing that this game can be enjoyed as is for zero cost, and yet made even better by spending a few bucks. Premium accounts need to be regularly paid for, and we’ll certainly be doing just that. World of Tanks has done the near impossible and knocked Bad Company 2 off the Atomic default gaming roster. If that’s not high praise for an out of nowhere game from an independent publisher, we don’t know what is."

"As you can see, games can be fast and furious, while at other times if both sides adopt a defensive strategy it can be a game of hide and seek. Regardless, of the over 200 games we have played, none have gone to full time. Win or lose, you get credits. Obviously winning gets you more and this is done by knocking out all the enemies tanks or capturing their base. The credits you get are spent on repairing your tank or investing in upgrades. These upgrades consist of better suspension and engines, that in turn allow you to carry better turrets and heavier weapons, Eventually you get to the end of the tree and you can then research the next tier tank."

NZGamer.com describes the hierarchy of World of Tanks tank trees, pointing out specialization of each division and its main advantages. Besides that, the gaming source provides some statistical data on ping rate, which is of high importance to any player, who tries this game: "We are not sure where the servers are based but at a regular ping rate of around 200-300 on a standard DSL 2+ connection there is no noticeable lag or delay."

Another thing described is the awaiting time between game battles; NZGamer points out the fact that a player won't wait long till next battle when his tank is destroyed, besides, this free time can be spent for surfing the net.

"This is by far the best free to play MMO out there at the moment. Its well polished, with good sound effects, well detailed tanks and terrain and regular updates and maps. Yes it's not historically correct but its a lot of fun for only the price of a download. We highly recommend it."

A Bit About The French

GoHaRu.com presents an interview, held with Nikita Shpakov, game designer of World of Tanks project. The main topic of discussion is upcoming French tanks and their features. Besides that, the developer speaks about gameplay peculiarities and French tanks characteristics.

"GoHaRu.com: Probably the most interesting thing for our players now is the automatic loader that will be installed on some of the French tanks. Can you tell us how this thing will work? I think that most of the players imagine that it will work this way - tank moves out from the corner, makes a burst of shots, say 5-6, and then quickly withdraws for a minute or so to reload its gun.

Nikita Shpakov, game designer of World of Tanks project: Well, this is not entirely correct. What you've said describes the mechanics of an automatic gun (conventionally) Mechanics of automatic loader will be somehow different - quick reload inside the magazine case, and After it's empty you'll have to withdraw and wait for reload. I can't tell you the figures now - how long will it take to reload, as it still being balanced, and probably the figures I have in mind will be changed later, but I can say that it will be twice or thrice the time faster, than reloading of the same weapon, but without automatic loader."

Babe From France: Lorraine 155 (51)

"This SP-gun was developed on base of Lorraine 40t, and as we can see from its index, was fitted with 155mm howitzer. A fixed breech end makes the vehicle look like assault guns, widely used during World War II. The initial Talbot engine was replaced with a Maybach engine in 1951. Military Modelling: World Of Tanks Online Gaming

The main topic of the conversation was the matchmaking system, which has changed from release to release as World of Tanks has tweaked the balance due to player feedback and data collected from literally millions of battles.

"Chris: I serve in a variety of roles – which is unusual for me because I am normally a writer or designer on a development team. I had the privilege of working with Wargaming.net on their previous World War II RTS, Order of War, acting as the game writer and also as their advisor on military and historical topics, American culture, and the English language, and have gone on to serve in similar capacities on World of Tanks. I am also involved with some of the communities that relate well with World of Tanks, including veterans, historians, tank modelers, and reenactors, and use my contacts there to evangelize the game in those areas."

Make the Lightest Tank

New contest is launched within World of Tanks (11th July, 2011).Longing for handicraft? Then partake in the new World of Tanks contest, that offers you to make your own WoT paper tank. Certainly, you do not have to send the paper model to Wargaming.net, all you need to do after making your own tank is to send us pictures of your work. The winner in each category (German, Soviet or American tank categories) will receive 3,500 gold, second place will be awarded 3,000 gold and third place will enjoy 2,500 gold.

The contest starts immediately and will end on the 31th of July 23:59 UTC.

Please, post your works in this forum topic.

Important requirements and notes regarding the contest submissions:

- The theme is Paper Tank;
- Every user can take part in the contest, but only one submission (and not more than 3 pictures of this work) per user is allowed.
- Tank should be implemented in WoT or at least be in development;
- For the creation of the paper model any measures are allowed;
- The model should contain an in​sc​ri​ption with player’s nickname.

Some requirements for photos:

- To help the scale evaluation one of the photos should contain either a coin or a box of matches near the model.

Following the popular macho contest Lord of the Tanks we are glad to announce the start of the new one – Lady Tank (8th July, 2011).Lady Tank is a contest not only for girl tankers but also for tankers’ reliable partners, who support them when they are on WOT battlefields. Those who don’t whine because of lack of attention and don’t nag having been replaced by steel monsters!

If you have recognized your girlfriend or wife in the de​sc​ri​ption above or if this de​sc​ri​ption is all about you, dear female tankers, take your chance to show it off!

The rules of the contest are simple: send us a photo, picture, painting, drawing, or sketch depicting a girl who is either a dedicated WOT tanker or a tanker’s trustworthy partner. As during the previous likewise contest we are looking forward to seeing how girls deal with a tank in that image. As you can gather, the main criterion is still the same: there should be a girl and a tank in the picture. There are no restrictions on the way of presentation. Image editing is allowed.

The only difference from Lord of the Tanks will be in the panel of judges. This time all judges who will evaluate the contest entries are men only!

The girl who will get the proud name Lady Tank will be awarded 5,000 gold.

The first Vice Lady Tank will get 3,000 gold. And the second Vice Lady Tank will receive 1,500 gold.

The contest starts now and will be closed in slightly more than two weeks, on July 24th at 23.59 UTC. Contest entries are to be posted on forums.

No truth to such rumours.

Question about super platoons!
Superplatoons wont get into random battles. It's a sort of a separate game mode. 3 platoons of 5 will oppose other 3 platoons.

Overlord, what period of time constitutes "Fall" for you guys? Sept-Nov?
Yeah, should constitute Sep-Nov in all northern hemisphere.

Overlord, is it true there is a hardcoded 72kph limit? What does this entail for the Hellcat, which could reach 96kph? How will it be compensated?
Yeah, it's true. No vehicle will get more than 72 km/h max speed. If any sort of compensation is needed at all, we have got plenty of options to make it actually.

Do fallen trees camoflage your tank?
No, they don't.

Does the development team have any plans for releasing optional equipment to boost zoom magnification in sniper mode?

Not planning currently.

Is there any chance that the development team may release an option for the minimap to include a visual indicator of view range?
This feature is currently in development.

Is it true the Pershing enjoys a better win ratio compared to the T-44 and Panther? Is so, may i have the current percentages?
M26 - 53.0, P1 - 51.5, T-44 - 50%. Soviet bias as always.

We are at patch 0.6.5 and 0.6.6 will most likely come the week before august

Tank Review

Good day to all WOT players!Welcome to the Tiger 2 (AKA King Tiger, Royal Tiger, Tiger ausf B, VK 4502 (H) a Tier 8 heavy tank from the German Tech Tree.  With its fearsome 105mm L68 this tank can finally engage Tier 10 heavies and expect to at least damage them head-on.

Previous tank: Tiger 1{H}

Next tank: E-75

Stock tank specs:

Overview:
The King Tiger starts off with the 88L71 (AKA long 88, a KT’s historical gun) which is actually the best stock heavy tank cannon at tier 8.  It’s cheap, penetrates a lot and is accurate. It also fires pretty damn fast. The KT is very slow stock (first engine) and not really all that maneuverable, but if you have researched the best engine on the tiger, you can put it now and see that it makes a huge difference.
Price:2 392 000
Camouflage: This brick is sexy, therefore very easy to spot.

Pros:
-Good looking (like me)
-Accurate
-Best stock T8 heavy
-Very tough frontal armor
-Pivot turn ability!

Cons:
-Big target
-Expensive
-Weak side and rear armor

Designation:
1. Warrior 2. Sniper 3. Steel Wall

Crew:
1. Commander
2. Gunner                      
3. Driver                      
4. Radio Operator     
5. Loader                      

Use your Tiger 1 crew .
I suggest you specialize your crew this way:
1. Repair
2. Firefighting
3. Camouflage

KT is prone to fires and module damage. Many times I get lit on fire AFTER I put it out with the extinguisher. Camouflage is bad, your crew cant compensate it that much so leave it as last, hell even camo + camouflage net wont save your sexy ass.

Modules:
Armor scheme currently in use

*The turret front is now 185, mantlet in impenetrable.

Hull:
The frontal armour is 150mm, but huge slope increases it greatly. Most tier 6,7 and even some tier 8 guns(88L71 included) will have problems going through this part of the tank. Weak spot is the lower hull armor, its only 120mm and even with the slope its not enough to stop the more powerful guns. Do know that you should slope yourself in order to increase the armor. Even the mighty BL-9 can bounce when using this tactic.

Suspension:
1. Standartketten (stock) / Max.capacity 68.5 / Turn speed 23 degrees per sec.
2. Verstartke ketten/ Max.capacity 72.97 / Turn speed 26 deg per sec.
Unlike the IS-3, the suspension is the first thing you need to get!

Engine:
Maybach HL 210 P 30- 650 h.p.– 20% chance for fire on impact
Maybach HL 230 P 45– 750 h.p.– 20% chance for fire on impact
Maybach HL 234 P 45- 870 h.p.- 20% chance for fire on impact
That's one looong research path, but its worth it as the best engine gives the KT of around 12 h.p. per ton. Lets not even mention the fact these engines are also used on the JagdTiger and Panther, and will help you in the long run of unlocking the entire German tree

Radio:
FUG 7– range 470m
FUG 12– range 810mm
Surprisingly, getting a better radio soon is advisable this time. 470mm is just not enough sometimes.

Turrets:
1. Porsche-turm (stock)
Armor 100/80/80
Rotation 34 deg / sec.
Review of 460 meters.
2. Henschel-turm
Book 185/80/80
Rotate 28 deg / sec.
Review of 460 meters.

I suggest getting the better turret ASAP. Its much better armored and gives you a RoF increase. The impenetrable mantlet (that also takes 1/3 of the turret front) can be combined with turret sloping after each shot in order to bounce the enemies's counter. Do keep in mind the commander's cupola is a weak spot that can be exploited in CQC by the enemy.

Guns:
88mm L71

This gun is a beauty, it has no problems penetrating IS-3 and T32. Its accurate and cheap, and i would not be surprised if some people are using it, as it allows the user to actually make money (if he is good enough) even without premium. Hell, if you can aim well, this gun can penetrate even the mighty IS-4 heavy tank.

Its debatable whether this is an actual upgrade, as you lose 3mm of penetration and some accuracy for 100 more damage. Its also very expensive with its ammo costing 1030 a shot. It does fire somewhat fast though

The damage and cost is the same as the other 105mm gun, BUT you get 25 more penetration and is just as accurate as the 88L71. When confronted by something heavy like a MAUS, for example, load HE rounds or shoot its weak spots with AP. This REALLY is an upgrade, but its very expensive to use at 1030 cred/shot. Do research it at ALL costs, as it will make the E-75 grind much better.

Proposed upgrade path:
1. Suspension
2. Turret
3. Engine
4. 105L52 (can also be number 3)
5. 105L68 (can also be number 4)
6. Engine (best)
*Note, i hope you have already researched the engines on the Tiger 1, because this will really shorten the grind.


Comparison with its peers:
IS-3 vs Panzer VI Tiger ausf B
An extemely tough comparison for both tanks. The Tiger 2 has a gun with EPIC accuracy and aim time, his frontal hull armor is far superior to IS-3s. IS-3 does more damage per shot and has better side and turret armor but less health. Both have the same 225 penetration (awesome!)
In short:
IS-3 is better vs smaller tanks than KT, thanks to its all around armor.
Tiger can bounce Tier 10 guns more often than IS3 ( hull armor).
IS-3 is speedier, but KT has the long range death to it
1v1 they are as a whole well balanced.

Panzer VI ausf B vs T32
King Tiger has a superior hull, but the T32 has an invulnerable turret. Both are about the same agility-wise. King Tiger has the better gun in every stat, except RoF.
In short:
T32 is again better vs small tanks thanks to RoF
T32 can turret-hug Tier 10 tanks into submission
1v1 they are balanced, but as a whole KT is better thanks to 27 more penetration

Historical KT

Mounts the 88L71 and can use both turrets. An absolute menace during WW2, it had no problems knocking out even the best allied tanks such as the IS-2 and Pershing. Only the IS-3 might have been a worthy opponent, and there are rumors that the two monsters met in Berlin, but nothing is sure.
The Tiger 2 is almost indestructible in historical battles, as no other tank can penetrate its armor. Only HE and side shots from IS tanks can kill it, but its never alone as PZ4s and Panthers will guard the Tiger and turn it into a kind of fortress.

Tweaks to King Tiger and its peers I would like to see:
-T32 gets a gun with 220 penetration and the same stats except slightly better accuracy.
-KT gets its turret side armor fixed and gets a +10 damage boost to top gun + 232 penetration for it and slightly higher RoF.

-IS-3 gets +10 dmg to BL-9 and gets 5.20 RoF, gets speed decrease to 37 and 228 penetration.
