i was under the assumption that either you killed a crew member or you damaged one of the modules on the tank correct?

but then within this, there are critical hits that do damage, and those that don't.  how do you differentiate which crit does what?

side question: which tiers are good for farming cash?  4 5 6?

Moved to newcomers. /soulspectre

Those that don't damage hit an external module, like tracks or optics, while those that do damage may have done internal or external module damage

Usually happens when you damage/destroy external modules. You do damage + crit damage if you penetrate a tanks hull which also probably killed a crew member or some other internal module.

Tier 5 is usually a good tier to make money as a good game will get you good money yet the cost of maintaining the tank is fairly low.

If you're doing it right, you take a drink.

Crit is crew or module damage. Damage to tank is a seperate issue.

Example 1 - Your shell hits an outer module, like the radio, busts it, but doesn't have the penetration to damage the tank hull. Critical hit, but not damage.

Example 2 - Your shell punctures the tank and kills the driver. Critical hit and damage.

I run on a lot of "scout" tanks and I find the crit mentality very helpful. Yeah, I can't damage the other guy, but I can sure piss him off and I love few things more than annoying my enemies.

I really love the "We lit that one up good!" - the best critical.  Your enemy is on fire.

Got this last night at 300m - the foe (who started at 100%) ran out of sight range and died behind a rock.  Feels good man.

It means you have destroyed or damaged a module or crew member, unless you are playing with a German tank, in which case it means you have only injured the radioman.

In the IS line you REALLY dont want your radioman to die, what with him being your commander and all  <_<
