you're right, it was totally stingy when they gave us a platoon bonus.

They should increase it. >_>

I don't see why they even need an incentive, just prevent platoons with a tier spread beyond 2 with the exception spread of 3 for lights

imo, the bonus is already pretty generous, esp in higher tiers.

You give rewards as incentives for actions you wish to continue, and you give penalties for actions you wish to reduce.

Since a 5% bonus (Tier 7 win) is a whopping 5% it is unlikely to influence anyone's behavior, so it would be safe to say WG doesn't really care if you are platooning at Tier 7 or lower.  And to Silent:  It's a 20% bonus -- if you win.  15% if you lose.  That might make you platoon, but if you generally do better solo, probably not.

Now since WG either rarely bans people for using illegal Mods (and if they do they certainly make no effort to educate us as to what they are doing to stop rampant cheating) it indicates to me that WG doesn't care if you cheat, consequently their intent is to drive away players who don't cheat, and keep those that do.

Since there is no incentive for players to be sportsmanlike and limited penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct (such as dragging a low tier player into a high tier match) it must mean that WG doesn't really care about that either (though they would like you to think that they do).

In any event an incentive that is not sufficient to cause change is not an incentive at all, and a penalty that is not enforced *and* exemplified is in fact no penalty at all.  It's all cosmetic and intended to deceive not to change pattern.

Now if WG does what it says it's intentions are and forces all platoons to be of the same tier, that would be an indication that they were serious, however their words and deeds are not entirely in alignment and therefore not to be considered truth by default.  And that is a natural consequence of not being truthful or sincere as exampled above.
