Am I the only one who goes crosseyed in game trying to figure out which VKXXXXX is which?
Same same Object XXX etc.
Drives me nuts.

GIVE THEM NAMES!!!! Then USE them as the official in game name.

Especially for the ones like the new Tiger III which apparently had a designation or nickname.

But for all of them. Just make one up if you have to. Its already fantasy so who cares? Use the project name in the detailed description, but also say "And it was referred to as this" or "we're just gonna call it this".

Heck you could even put it to player survey, or a contest or both.

Just watch out you dont leave the door open to Tanky MCTankface.

I'm just going to call you "McHappyMeal" from now on, because I want to, and I don't care what your real name is.

x.

I have to say, I'm with the OP on this one!

I tend to think of the various VKs in the following general terms:

  • Tiger III
  • Tubby Medium Tiger II
  • Pocket Panther (or semi-historically accurate panther)
  • Baby Tiger
  • German T34 & German T34 II

and so on...

Mind you, I've always been rubbish at remembering alpha-numerics...

it's not hard to remember the German tank names and tank model numbers, not hard at all.

ehhh. I beg to differ on some people who claim the Lowe is the Pz VI

Thinking about this further, you could make the same argument about most of the tanks in the game from the Russian and Chinese trees too; the only reason we don't object too much to the Russians, is that anyone who knows anything about tanks already knows about most of them (although I struggle remembering which Obj is which as well...)...

Some people are just ignorant and there is no helping that.

If you're not opposed to it, get the mod where you can change the names of the tanks on your screen.

For instance, you could replace the T95 with the name: Doom Turtle.

Prototype Tiger II, prototype Panther. That was easy.

I think of it as the Real Panther. The tier 7 with the alternate turret and the L/gajillion gun is the Fake Panther.

Since it's not as good as a Tiger 1 or 2, I would not like it to be called a Tiger 3. It's more like a Tiger 0.95.

Henceforth, I want to be addressed as "LORD STUPENDOUS"

Thank you.

It's very easy, though...

VK 20.01 D => lolwhocares

VK 30.01 D (Tier6) => VK-D

VK 30.02 D (Tier7) => VK-2D

VK 30.01 P => VK-P

VK 30.02 M => VK-M

VK 36.01 H => VK-H

VK 30.01 H => Mini-H

VK 45.02 A => VK-A
VK 45.02 B => VK-B

VK 72.01 K => Extra Chromosome-100 or VK-K
VK 28.01 => Derp scout

VK 16.02 => Leopard

Am I missing anything? I'm doing this entirely by memory.

I call the T49 the T49, since it's so short.

Makes sense I guess. Was just wondering since everyone I've seen using it and on yt calls it the Derp Scout.

Suggestions for nickmames

Current name - Suggested Name - Notes

VK 20.01 (D) - GBK - At one point was called the GBk for the organization that authorized Daimler's request for autonomy in the design. I'd suggest calling it Daimler but that is confusing given the Brit AC of the same name.

VK 30.01 H - DW3 - As a successor to the Durchbruchwagen 2 which incorporated aspects of that design, DW3 is a reasonable nomenclature to tell people what to expect.

VK 36.01 H - DW4 - Another successor to the Durchbruchwagen 2, same logic as 30.01 above.

VK 30.01 (P) Leopard - T100 (P) - Obviously can't call this a leopard as it would be on the field with the light tank leopard too (not to mention the later tier modern one). Seems to have also been called the Porsche Type 100, which is too long for a tag, so shorten it to T100(P).

VK 30.02 (M) - Panther Prot. - It was Mann's prototype for the Panther, so just call it that.

VK 30.01 D - DB) - Pz V Prot 1 - This was essentially the first Daimler Benz's prototype for the Panther series. But it was different enough from the selected Panther not to use that name. Use the Mark number instead. Alternate name Panther DB1

VK 30.02 D - DB) - Pz V Prot 2 - Same logic as 30.02, Alternate name Panther DB2.

Enough for now...

Seriously that would work as well.
Anything to reduce the screen clutter and clarify content.

Just like with the German 100 series.

E100

J100

W100 (now the Grille 15)

Its not known as the Tiger III because it's technically not the Tiger III. Its runs by the VK name because that's how its to be known.

Just like The Jagdpanzer 38.. it's NOT called Hetzer... but because of some document confusion and thus causing a coined troop joke during WW2, the name Hetzer stuck. In reality, the model E-10 was the true Hetzer
