1 Download latest drivers

2. Download lastest DDU http://www.guru3d.co...r-download.html

3. Uninstall Evolved if you still have it.

4. Run Setup and uninstall everything for AMD

5. Run DDU Pick installing new card go safemode.

6. Reinstall Driver and support software.  Try don't installing relive begin with.  Do it after you know your drivers are stable.

Make sure your Power Supply and MB can handle the power draw.

You add this line: "-clientGraphicsAPI d3d9" without the " " quotes to the end of your exe under properties of the shortcut. Make sure theres a space before the -.

Not sure if it does drop the game down to dx9 tho as the game seems the same as well as the fps...

RX 480 here.  I changed the foliage setting, but I am still CTD when playing.  I also lose the Radeon control panel.  It just doesn't open.m  I have a dual monitor setup.  24" 144 hz and a 20" standard LED.  I did a clean up with DDU and installed the latest driver, 17.2.1 and did not install Relive.

Ya tried with and without relive no difference. Im trying a more aggressive fan and temp curve so cooling is better if its an overheating issue... but many think its not and driver related. I put in max 80c down from 90c target 50c and more aggressive fan with ignore the sound profile.

Hmm no crashes tonight even on the almost always crashing winter maps. But I put shadows to high instead of max along with foliage at low and fan and temps on the rx480 to max 80 with target 70 at much higher fan speeds... Im starting to think its the shadows tho...

Starting WoT with the following batch file cured all of my RX 480 issues...  ( At least thus far )..

-----

@echo off
start  WorldOfTanks.exe -clientGraphicsAPI d3d9

-----

Driver version 17.3.2

Ya I was on 17.3.2 and using the -clientGraphicsAPI d3d9 extension on the exe when I got 2 crashes the previous night. But I had put shadows and foliage back to ultra. Tonight gonna try with foliage back to ultra but leave shadows on high. I usually crash 2-6 times or so in 3-4 hours of gaming.

I havent played since post 73. But that night I gamed 4 hours no probs... even on the most problematic maps. So shadows on high and *not max* and foliage on low. With the dx9 profile. With temps maxed at 80 and fan profile maxed  to allow it to go above 2300 rpm. If that setup doesnt work for you let us know. I might wait to change some settings if you or others crash with it still.

Edit: Tried putting foliage back up and crashed first game on sacred valley. So def foliage is an issue. Gonna go back and try foliage low again.

Actually got to play both maps tonight without issue but I'm running SD so not as pretty and less physics effects, not a single crash in three hours. I had also removed the dx9 profile as it wasn't working for me.

So maybe the combination of updated driver and SD worked, we'll see.

Oh no way Im dropping that much. I love the HD candy too much. I put foliage down a notch and 2 games in  so far ok but not on the usual crash prone maps... gonna play some more tonight so we'll see and Ill give sit reps as I go along.

Edit: Played a bunch of maps fine. Some of them winter. Dont need to go all the way down on foliage. So for now Foliage is on high and Shadows is on high. Everything else save motion blur which is off, is ultra. In a day or 2 if this stays stable Ill start to wind down the fan curve and max temps. Maybe put it at 85 with max fan at 3000 for starters... 3600 is too noisy.

Yep played with temps fans settings almost back to normal theres no overheating issue here.

So what seems to work for me is the dx 9 profile along with foliage and shadows down one notch only. Both on high. Ill play the dx 9 profile a few days yet then try the dx11 again and see if this fix sticks.

Edit spoke too soon... crashed hard lock on karelia. Back to the drawing board. gonna drop foliage another notch...
