"Design of this tank started in 1946 in a state-run enterprise scheme near Issy-les-Moulineaux. The First prototype was assembled two years later. Production started in 1952 in Rouen (ARE association). At one time a total of 45 tanks were produced per month. At the beginning of the ‘60s production of the AMX-13 was handed over to "Creso Loire" company, as Rouen facility was switched over to production of the AMX-30. Basic chassis of the light tank was used in production of various tanks, including the armored infantry vehicle AMX VCI, 105mm self-propelled howitzer, 155mm self-propelled gun Mk F3 and double-barreled anti-aircraft self-propelled gun OCA, each of them having special features in different modules."

A new blog article is dedicated to the tournaments and championships history of World of Tanks (25th July, 2011).

The new blog article named WoT Champs and Tourneys: Past, Present, Future is given in Developers Blog. E_Bragin, World of Tanks event manager, speaks about 1st Championship World of Tanks CBT, WoT US OPEN Championship, WOT Battle League, Ural Steel Championship and The Drill, the most famous and important championships held on World of Tanks battlefields. E_Bragin highlights the aims and the main goals achieved with the help of such terrific events.

"However I am sure the Finals proved that both Europeans and Americans are in great shape and have unlimited potential for improvement. A new review is given by NZGamer that depicts World of Tanks features and gameplay aspects (22nd July, 2011).

"As you can see, games can be fast and furious, while at other times if both sides adopt a defensive strategy it can be a game of hide and seek. Regardless, of the over 200 games we have played, none have gone to full time. Win or lose, you get credits. Obviously winning gets you more and this is done by knocking out all the enemies tanks or capturing their base. The credits you get are spent on repairing your tank or investing in upgrades. These upgrades consist of better suspension and engines, that in turn allow you to carry better turrets and heavier weapons, Eventually you get to the end of the tree and you can then research the next tier tank."

NZGamer.com describes the hierarchy of World of Tanks tank trees, pointing out specialization of each division and its main advantages. Besides that, the gaming source provides some statistical data on ping rate, which is of high importance to any player, who tries this game: "We are not sure where the servers are based but at a regular ping rate of around 200-300 on a standard DSL 2+ connection there is no noticeable lag or delay."

Another thing described is the awaiting time between game battles; NZGamer points out the fact that a player won't wait long till next battle when his tank is destroyed, besides, this free time can be spent for surfing the net.

"This is by far the best free to play MMO out there at the moment. Its well polished, with good sound effects, well detailed tanks and terrain and regular updates and maps. Yes it's not historically correct but its a lot of fun for only the price of a download. We highly recommend it."

The second Most Valuable Player contest is to be started within World of Tanks (27th July, 2011).

Who gives artillery targets to shoot? Who helps the team to plan the tactics? And who give team the time to implement it, surviving under enemy fire? Light and Heavy tanks. ‘Scouts’ and ‘Steel Walls’. All WoT players know how important for the team these tanks are! We are looking for a person who will achieve the best results in this categories from now till 23.59 UTC (11.59pm UTC) of the 28th of July.

Important notes about the contest:

- Every player takes part in the event;
- Player with the biggest amount of MVP points wins; MVP Points earning rules are specific for each category:
- Players can submit up to 3 battle results for each category, each battle result should include the end battle window screenshot and the garage with the end battle pop-up message screenshot (see the example);
- To take a screenshot press Ctrl+PrtScr. If your keyboard does not have such keys, you are advised to use any free software. They all are saved in the general in-game folder;
- Players can participate in 2 different categories: ‘Scouts’ and ‘Steel Walls’;
- For the ‘Scouts’ category all light tanks are allowed;

The ‘Scouts’ category has following rules for earning the points:

- Players receive one point for each detected enemy in the end battle window. This amount is doubled, if the player’s team wins and the player survives. Also participants receive an additional 5 points for the ‘Scout’ battle hero achievement;
- For the ‘Steel Walls’ category Tier 7 and Tier 8 Heavy Tanks are allowed (IS,PzKpfw VI Tiger, T29, IS-3, PzKpfw VIB Tiger II, T32, KV-5, Lowe, M6A2E1);

The ‘Steel Walls’ category has the following rules for earning points:

- The battle result will be counted only if player receives ‘Steel Wall’ battle hero achievement. Each hit received by player’s tank counts as an MVP Point;
- All contest entries (battle results) are to be submitted before 23.59 UTC (11.59pm UTC) of the 28th of July;
- The same player can win in more than one category.

Winners in each category will be awarded 3,000 Gold, the second place will bring you 2,500 Gold and the third prize-holder will enjoy 2,000 Gold.

The event dedicated to Operation Husky will start on July 28th (27th July, 2011).

A new event under the name Kill the Deserter will be launched on North American server.

Kill the Deserter event will take place from 9.00 pm UTC till 5.00 am UTC during three days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday (July 28-30). At that time a special account named DESERTER_WG will be in game. People who want to destroy the secrets that are necessary for WoT development team are hiding under this name. That is why the task of the tankers is to kill deserters in order to prevent the loss of information. The deserter will use one of the following vehicles: T-28, T-34, Pz IV, Stug-III, M4 Sherman and M10 Wolverine.

As it was mentioned above, in order to receive gold a player will have to destroy the Deserter's tank, then make a screenshot and submit it in the special forum topic, which will be open for all next week. After the topic is closed, we will make lists of submitters and winners. You will receive 250 gold for each kill.

A new special will be held for World of Tanks players (26th July, 2011).

July 1943 was a significant period for tank production industry during World War II; that month serious changes took place in Soviet, German and American tank parks. And actually, July was always full of events: soviet medium tank T-28 was used in combat for the first time; T-34 mass production was started; last mass PzIV Ausf H was produced; Stug-III Ausf F was rearmed with 75mm StuK 40 L/48; medium tank M4 Sherman was used in battle in Europe for the first time; tank destroyer M10 Wolverine was used in battle in Europe for the first time.

But the most significant event, which took place in July 1943, was Operation Husky.

"The Allied invasion of Sicily, codenamed Operation Husky, was a major World War II campaign, in which the Allies took Sicily from the Axis (Italy and Nazi Germany). Husky began on the night of 9–10 July 1943, and ended 17 August. It opened the way to the Allied invasion of Italy."

At this stage World of Tanks development team is glad to announce the launch of Operation Husky Special which is dedicated to Allied invasion of Sicily (9 July – 17 August 1943). “All you have to do is correctly identify the ten tanks shown in silhouette form below, and you'll be in with a chance of winning in-game gold tokens.”

The contest winners will be selected randomly from those who give correct answers and e-mail them on editor@bit-tech.net.
The first randomly-selected reader to correctly identify all ten vehicles will earn themselves a substantial sum of 5,000 gold. The second randomly-selected reader to correctly identify all ten vehicles will earn themselves a generous handful of 2,500 gold. The third randomly-selected reader to correctly identify all 10 vehicles will earn themselves a helpful sack of 1,000 gold tokens.

The Lady Tank Contest is over (25th July, 2011).

Lady Tank is a contest not only for girl tankers but also for tankers’ reliable partners, who support them when they are on WOT battlefields. Those who don’t whine because of lack of attention and don’t nag having been replaced by steel monsters!

If you have recognized your girlfriend or wife in the de​sc​ri​ption above or if this de​sc​ri​ption is all about you, dear female tankers, take your chance to show it off!

The rules of the contest are simple: send us a photo, picture, painting, drawing, or sketch depicting a girl who is either a dedicated WOT tanker or a tanker’s trustworthy partner. As during the previous likewise contest we are looking forward to seeing how girls deal with a tank in that image. As you can gather, the main criterion is still the same: there should be a girl and a tank in the picture. There are no restrictions on the way of presentation. Image editing is allowed.

The only difference from Lord of the Tanks will be in the panel of judges. This time all judges who will evaluate the contest entries are men only!

The girl who will get the proud name Lady Tank will be awarded 5,000 gold.

The first Vice Lady Tank will get 3,000 gold. And the second Vice Lady Tank will receive 1,500 gold.

We announce the results of MVP: Kill'em All contest (22nd July, 2011).

MVP: Kill’em All contest was to find out the greatest tank killer among World of Tanks players. The bigger the amount of destroyed tanks was, the more likely tankers were to reach the top in this competition.

The contest was held in three categories: Medium tanks, TDs and SPGs. And now we are ready to annouce the winning MVPs!

Perfect killers in TD category are: Joannes who counted 21 frags and will be awarded 3,000 in-game gold! DocHawk counted 20 frags getting 2,500 gold. Wercho gets 2,000 gold for 15 frags and AceDarkfire will be credited 750 gold for 11 frags! Cybergyn gets 500 gold for destroying 9 tanks.

Perfect Arty snipers are: Joannes who counted 15 frags and will be credited 3,000 gold! Another player, galon007, destroyed 15 tanks too, and will be given 3,000 gold as well. They are followed by BigThunder75, Gorshkov33 and trekky with 11 frags, they take second place and each of them will get 2,500 gold!

And best MVPs in Medium tanks category are: Cybergyn with 23 frags, which bring him 3,000 gold! The runer-up is BorisWoT with 17 tanks that give him 2,500 gold. Maxanov will be credited 2,000 gold for destroying 16 tanks and raccoon29 will get 750 gold for 14 frags. Once again Joannes is a prize winner, getting 500 in-game gold for 11 frags!

Q: Hey Overlord, any chance of ever seeing the Leopard 1 as a German T9 premium? The gun is the same as the E-50's best (since the 10.5cm L/52 Ausf B is the same as the Royal Ordnance L7) but the tank itself has much much less armor, though it is faster and more agile.
A: Leopard is fairly beyond our timeline. No chance for it.

Q: Does the E-50 and E-75 share similar module hitboxes?
A: Yeah, both hitboxes are very similar.

Q: Is the Patton still getting the planned 10% improvement to dispersion on the move for 0.6.6?
A: Nope, since Patton performs extremely well.

Q: Is it possible to make queue longer (even up to 1 minute) to give matchmaker time to make proper teams (filling all above rules) so everyone is happier because of proper team line-up?
A: That's not necessary.

Q: Are there any plans to prevent games with large amount of SPGs in them (more than 3-4 artillery per team)?
A: More likely [it will be limited to] 4-5.

Q: Are the Tiger (P) and VK4502P Ausf. A going to get the Porsche Deutz Typ 180/2 840 HP engine?
A: Only the latter.

Q: So in a nutshell.. we're never going to see tracers again? You don't even have an ETA? I'm sure checking the integrity of game files and banning people would be easier, no?
A: No, if it were easier, we would have gone that way.

Q: Will Wargaming.net attend the Gamescom 2011 (17.-21.08.2011) in Cologne?
A: Yes, definitely. We just can't miss the greatest European (world?) expo.

Q: If you will attend Gamescom 2011, will it be possible to meet Overlord?
A: Sure, and many other guys from WoT team.

Q: What is the margin of difference in tier points between teams in random battles? I've just been in one with 75 vs. 84 which is over 10% (both teams max 7 and min 4 tier, only two platoons, nothing weird), so basically 3/4 of one team's tanks were a tier higher than their counterparts. That's just insane.
A: Match-making system takes into account match-making values not vehicle tiers, that's why there can be certain inconsistency.

Q: Any updates on 6.6 patch ETA yet?
A: Early August.

Q: Why does the matchmaker tanks balanced by their tier? 2 KVs are no way near as good as an IS-7. Nor would i rather have a BT-2 and an IS-3 than an IS-4.
A: It does not work this way. Moreover KV (unplatooned) can't get into the same battle with IS-7.

Q: Myself included, lots of fans are wondering why the small content patches take the amount of time they do to make to the player. Could you give us a little background on the lead up processes prior to release? Maybe, use this as an episode of Wargaming TV? I would love to see how the pieces all come together prior to delivery!
A: Will forward the idea to the guys responsible for WN TV.

Q: Overlord, can you please make revised camo values public? If no, can you explain why are they not disclosed? It's very important stat and I don't understand why it is not viewable.
A: Camo values are regarded as a part of internal game design data. Our guys don't want them to go public.

Q: Any certain order future content will come by?
A: Approximately this way:

1) 6.6 stuff
2) M4A3E2, tier 5 LTs
3) French tanks
4) US and USSR tree revision
...
n) British tanks on

Q: Is it true that guns reload time is longer if you click fire button while your gun is reloading?
A: Nope, not true.

Q: What is the reason behind this "don't want"?

Because for some players it is other parameter which should be known in order to choose tank they want to play (at least for some of them). This is important stat, when to decide what equipment to use (camo net) - in future you are going to charge for consumable which will be changing camo value - so how should player pay money without knowing what he is exactly paying for - what will be his camo value after buying consumable and without it?
A: Reference materials don't list camo value in vehicle specs, do they? Real life tankers had quite limited understanding of how visible their tank was.

General pattern is the following: the larger the tank is, and the more powerful engine it has, the lower its camo value.

Q: According to your blog, Overlord, the Porsche Tiger will have 200mm front hull armor. Is it all of the front or a specific area of it (as it is probably the max value)? Which area is it?
A: Both lower and upper armor plates. So better aim at the turret.
