Just some curiosity along with a comment on how much I love the Japanese Heavies so far.

I am loving the heavies.  Totally.  Almost like a match made in heaven.  I can't recall having this much fun driving a heavy tank (aside from the KV-2).  I've had heavies i've enjoyed and done extremely well in, but nothing that felt like a glove made for me like these have been.

Anyhoo, I guess the next thing to try to tease out of Dai, Soukou, and others is info about the TD's (As much as I love arty, I figure I'll just go up them regardless of what they are like).  I know Dai mentioned - with a devilish gleam in her eye - the TD's having a 105mm.  Will that be all the way to the top?  If so, will we be looking at a possible autolading 105mm TD at upper tiers, or will it just be extremely rapid fire 105mm (I can safely guesstimate probabliy firing every 4-5 seconds, with a 105mm to keep up DPM with the other TD's at tier?)

What chassis/base will the TD's come from?  Will they be like the mediums (not well armored, but decently mobile) or like the heavies (Kaiju!).  What sort of hints can you guys give that won't give away too much, yet still keep our appetites whetted?

http://thearmoredpat...o-come-in-2016/

according to that Blog (as of this post, it hasn't been contradicted as false info) - the Japanese TD's are now coming in 2016?!?!

I know there is only so much that Dai/Suki and the others can give info about these because of NDA reasons and such i'm sure.  However, what sort of information can you give to us that might be on par with a "history channel" special on them?  I'm talking about General information like crews, design quirks, usage plans, general info that would help give us a hint of how they would have possibly been used in real life or how they might be used in game?

Nice work y'all.

O-I Exp. and the O-I are atrocities of game balance though. :honoring:

Can anyone tell me what the Type 61 hull and turret traverses were? I know the Type 74 turret traverse was 24 d/s

I have a question regarding the O-Ni: Is the front part of the hull (where the two 47mm turrets sit) supposed to be as tall as it is? Most depictions I've seen of the vehicle have the turret roofs level to the part of the hull where the primary turret sits, but in-game the secondary turret roofs are taller.

Most 'depictions' you've seen are also just assumptions based on little. The only blatant wronging in the model is the relatively short front hull extension.

A question sort of related to Japanese tanks in the game...

Does anyone know of a mod, that replaces the Hinomaru (current Japanese flag in game) with the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army?

See below

I want this war flag on my Japanese tanks. I know it might not be politically correct but I just think it looks totally bada$$.

The Nazi's were really bad back then too, but they let us have the Balkenkruez on our German tanks.

Historically, that was never used on Japanese tanks, so it wouldn't accurate anyway.

As for the specific request, go here to ask for one.

You're right,

The Rising Sun war flag that I meant to reference, appeared on Japanese armor had the sun disc offset mostly to the right.

This is the war flag I want on my Japanese tanks ingame.

I posted a request in the mods addons forum, but it was deleted and I was given a warning.

That's the IJN Kyokujitsu-ki, which is historical for some vehicles (there are some pictures in this thread of the Kyokujitsu-ki on captured M3 Stuarts), but not for most of them in-game currently. However, there used to be a mod for it back when the Japanese line was released two years ago, but I don't know what happened to it.

Is it just my imagination, or does that vehicle on the left look ... unimpressed?

I figured out how to do it.

This is my first attempt

The outside edges are too sharp, I gotta look around for tutorials about altering transparency of edges for Gimp. I hate how Gimp is setup, wish I had Photoshop installed.

If anybody wants to have this on their Japanese tanks too, just need to have the following file folder path, if most everyone is running mods, then you'll probably only have the create the folder path maps\vehicles\decals in your gui folder under res_mods folder:

Games

   \-> World_of_Tanks

                          \-> res_mods

                                       \-> 0.9.13

                                               \-> gui

                                                      \-> maps

                                                              \-> vehicles

                                                                        \-> decals

Download this file: japanese_sun.dds

Save it in the decals folder and it will replace the default Japanese flag once you restart World of Tanks client. If you want to go back to the default Japanese flag, just delete the "japanese_sun.dds" file from that file directory you created and back to default.

Once I learn how to manipulate the image better and make the edges softer so it looks painted on instead of looking like a sticker, I'll post the new version of it here on this thread.

This is the way the japanese_sun.dds file looks like by default

See how the edges are a little irregular. I'm hoping to learn how to emulate that.

My modified japanese_sun.dds looks like this currently
