Their popularity seems to have dropped a lot.  Last tier 6 1v1 a lot of people went back to more reliable 6s like the KV-85, since if an OI flubs even a single shot it's dead against another heavy.

I'm sorry but the gold awards are ridiculously small considering the amount of time that players must invest to play and win these tournaments. It's just in-game currency so why be so stingy? You should at least triple all amounts given to make it worth people's time.

Wargaming gives out just as much gold in these 1v1's as any other large scale tournament. It serves more as a general charity to players that want to earn gold without the trouble of organizing a team rather than restrict earnings to elite clans. Plus with how frequent the 1v1 tournaments happen a high amount of gold reward could inflate and destroy the in game economy. World of tanks would be empty if everyone owned all the premium tanks they wanted without a challenge. Plus these guys like to eat something other than cup ramen every night as well haha.

-HT's

I'd bet we'll see a lot of KV-85's as said before and other dpm heavies like the vk 36.01H/HT no VI, M6, and maybe even ARL(105 or short 90), or OI with the 100 rather than the 150 derp. All have the hitpoints to eat the gold spam and return the damage. I think the best players will bring a T-150 because it has the best chance of surviving a high caliber derp guns and can probably fend off a try hard cromwell or T37 as well or better than the next heavy tank.

-LT's other than op T37

Some interesting tanks we might see are lights like the amx 12t, vk28.01 heat spam, and 59-16 which have powerful burst damage. They can work but all three rely on ambushing your victim and then vanishing for a reload before striking the killing blow which is entirely possible if any heavy player gets unlucky and misses their tracks or can't chace them down. Type 64 and other lights without burst or op health like the T37 are a fair cake walk because the map is too small, they'll probably just try to reset the game at the end when you cap them out and troll people with draws.

-TD's

Sadly I don't see many of the Td's being useful but someone might bring an SU-100 or SU-100Y for that alpha damage and noob stomping power, the field in the backsides of mittenguard can be a good place to hide until your opponent gets on cap and you can ambush them. I recomend typing a conversation with them to distract them from their innevitable rape.

-MD's

Finally there are the true mediums, E8, VK series, T34-85, even a Chi-To could hold their own by flanking and ambushing like the scouts will, they're probably less punishing if you make a mistake which is good for the average player who's not so great in a light and doesn't really own a heavy. Probably not that effective I'm afraid because these support tanks can easily be forced into an unwanted engagement or get one shotted by a high caliber derp.

-SPG's

As for artillery, I think the fv304 will be the only fully upgraded spg to be loaded before you die but if you run an amx 13 f3, hide that tiny fast sucker in the back side of the map and go td mode with heat, half the tank is the thing's gun so you might survive one or two shots before you bugger out for your reload. Wait for them to get back on cap, then ambush them. Rinse and repeat as you miss or lose your shot to their tracks. You'll be lucky if they chase you into the back fields as the bushes of mittenguard can be good enough to get them to point blank firing range.

Typo Alert!

On the tournament page an obvious copy/paste for the times below.  The last time should be 1804/2104.

Probably nobody will notice but if someone does take the time literally it could be bad news.

  • Group Stage Round 1: 1700 PT / 2000 ET
  • Group Stage Round 2: 1708 PT / 2008 ET
  • Group Stage Round 3: 1716 PT / 2016 ET
  • Group Stage Round 4: 1724 PT / 2024 ET

These aren't as good as the old skirmishes, but compared to the remaining tournament formats this is 500 gold for ~1 hour of your time and you don't need to put a team together.  Compared to the other servers this is still pretty decent.  5-6 hours of 1v1 tournaments and you can get a month of premium time, better than you're going to get from the same time spent in pubs.

You actually came in 2nd place. The wrong email was sent out to everyone in 2nd place; however, the gold that was credited to your account was correct.
