The Zombie Apocalypse is here and we need you! The Apocalype is a series of one day round robin tournaments that run Monday through Friday. You can sign up for only one day or all five, but be warned. It becomes more difficult to survive as you battle tanks at higher tiers. Doing well and earning gold each day will also give you Zombie kills, which could help you win Premium tanks or even a Corsair Void headset! Do you have what it takes to survive the apocalypse?

Basic Tournament Information

Please see tournament page each day for detailed information information

Tournament Rating System

The Zombie Apocalypse tournament introduces our new tournament rating system! New teams will only face other new teams and experienced teams will face other experienced teams.

  • Each player has a rating based solely on tournament battles. The rating does not include random battles, team battles, clan wars or strongholds.
  • The system tracks tournament participation from March 2016 to the present. Any tournaments before March 2016 are not counted.
  • The team rating is the average rating from members of the team. The team rating is used to determine your opponents.
  • Teams in the Premium group will usually face other very experienced teams. The gold prizes for the Premium group are usually higher than the Standard or New Team groups.
  • A new team is a team with players who have never participated in a tournament or has only participated in a few tournaments.
  • After completing several tournaments, a new team will be seeded into Premium or Standard groups.

The upcoming Zombie Apocalypse can be a scary thing, especially for newcomers. Here’s a quick guide to help you survive!

1. Choose your tank – not all tanks are created equal. The metal beast you take into battle is up to you, so choose wisely!

2. Select your team – you can kill more zombies with a team. Find a team before the battles begin or sign up solo and we’ll help you find a team.

3. Scout the location – every map is different, and tools like MapTactic or StratSketch will help you plan your moves.

4. Gather supplies – equipment, consumables camo...grab what you need for ultimate survival.

5. Follow these helpful rules:

  • Listen to your leader – if one person has a plan, listen! This will help you and your team survive.
  • Focus fire – a swarm of Zombies can overpower even the best team, so take them out one at a time.
  • Use cover – if the Zombies can’t see you, they can’t kill you. They also has a hard time eating your brain with a building between you.

These are only a few rules that you should know. Share your tips for surviving the Zombie Apocalypse!

So what exactly is a zombie? It's used as the metric for placing, but I don't see it actually described anywhere.

An undead being that will eat brains.

For the tournament though, zombies aren't really anything. Zombie kills are points that are used to determine your rank for the overall prizes and you get awarded zombie kills based on your final position within your group.

Also, the post says 5+2 for the team. But the tournament pages say 5+1.

It's 5v5, but it's not based solely on tournament wins. It's not based on ELO, but using that as an example is probably the easiest way to understand the ranking system.

Depending on the final rank within the group, players will earn X amount of gold and Y Zombie kills.

I don't think I've played any tournaments since March, so does that mean I have no chance at getting a headset if I join this tournament?

If there's no actual zombies, and it's just a naming quirk, then why stop there?  Sell naming rights to tournaments.  We could kill pokemons.  We could have cola wars.  We could mong on to whatever the current cup/trophy/pennant hype is going on.  We could shoot Trumps or Clintons (your choice).  Use your dang imaginations and get us some sweet sweet merchandising money so you can afford to employ a map designer and get us some new places to fight in.

Well, good thing about the rating system being used now, but it's potentially very exploitable, so a few questions/points...

a) If just one of the players on the team has no tourney rating, does that make the whole team be counted as a "new" team? So five gold league players and a skrub would make a "new team"?

b) If, in this case, 4 gold league players and 2 tourney bots formed a team, would the average tourney rating of all 6 count as a "standard" experience level?

c) If a and b are true, something that could be done to prevent this sort of thing from happening, or at least reduce the effectiveness of it, would be  to calculate the team rating using only the players with the top ratings on the team, using the number actually playing (in this case 5)...and discard the lowest ratings, of the number of alternates (in this case 1)...so artificially weighting one's team would be less effective.

d) Are these ratings going to be displayed anywhere? It wouldn't be fun to join a team, only to find out once the tourney is over that the members aren't rated so you'll get worse prizes.

Is there a way to see your 'tournament rating?'  Considering some people will want to get into the top bracket for higher rewards, or avoid it depending on skill level, I'd be nice for people to know what they're getting when they take someone into a team.  Also will this start getting used for the smaller tournaments?  This would be fantastic for the 1v1s as I'd love to play against other experienced players for higher stakes.

Also my old tournament group is ded, so I'm looking for any decent team that intends to play all 5 days and needs another player.  I have pretty much every meta tank with crews in that tier range.  PM me if you have a spot.
