Hello -

I recently re-crewed my Jumbo because I wanted to bring up my awful WR in the tank from 46%.  I have a new crew in it, but trained to 100%, working on my first skill (repairs).

The last time I played it, I was running it with the 105 derp.  Since I re-crewed the tank, I played a couple games in it with the 105 and a couple with the M1A2 ...lost all the battles .

I do well in the M4 Sherman, running with the derp, pretty good in the easy 8 with the M1A2.  What do you recommend and why?

Thanks for the help.

use the stock turret and 105 derp gun. There's no use using the thin top turret and M1A2 gun when Easy 8 exists.

the top turret on the jumbo does not exist.

I prefer the 76, but you have to be willing to fire some gold.

I have allways preferred the stock turret and the 105 i have tried the other 2 guns and the top turret but they just don,t feel right and i don,t seem to be able to make them work aswell as the stock + 105

I tried rolling with the stock turret but I guess you can say I'm too used to the Easy 8/Fury.

105 and tough turret all of the may for me.

Why bother with a weaker turret and a 76mm pop gun when the Easy 8 is available? If you want to run and gun with a 76mm, just own both tanks and play back and forth between the two. The Jumbo is a assault medium, one that is meant to abuse weaker tanks when top tier, and play assist/support when bottom tier. The tougher turret can bounce some surprising shots and the 105 is great at quickly popping out of cover and landing hits for critical damage on even the toughest enemies.

OP I run the stock with the derp.  But I have the Fury and the E8, so just cause it's different is probably as much a reason as any for that configuration.

Plus if you want to run the top turret and elited gun then run the E8 as it's better for that set up imo.

All three set ups are solid depending on playstyle including the fully elite set up, but the previous poster nailed it imo.

Besides the difference in turret armor and the guns, don't forget the 40m in view range for the upgraded turret.

Comparison of the three just cause.  Stock with derp, stock with first 76 and upgraded turret with elite gun.

All 3 configurations can be effective.    Ive tried all 3, but IMO the best defense vs offense vs affordability comes with the 105mm and stock turret.       You get the ridiculousness of US Heavy tank turrets as well as being able to damage any enemy on the field without spending credits upon credits throwing prem ammo vs heavy armor.

One thing a lot of people complain about the E2 is the unreliability of damage with the 105mm.    Yes, as an HE cannon you will rarely do full damage.  But even vs T7, T8 heavies, if you know where to aim, you can get 100-150 a pop.  Also when need be, the benefits of permatracking a giant td facing a wall cannot be understated.

I 3 moe'd my E2 several months ago excusively with the 105mm and still run in the 94-98% range months later

"Upgraded" turret is garbage. The whole point of the E2 is to go hull down and hold a flank against other mediums or heavies if your top tier. Just today i held my a flank all by myself against a vk 30.01(P) and some russian medium(both tier 7s) on mines by going hull down on the D2 hill from north spawn. I managed to do 800 damage, 1.6k spotting damage for my camping TDs and block 1.6k damage. I used the m1a1 gun as im not very fond of the howitzer though it is better if your bottom tier, still the 76 m1a1 gun is ok at tier 6 and most tier 7 battles as you can aim for copulas or LFPs to pen, load HE when you need to permatrack somebody thanks to a 4 second~ reload and unlike the 105 you are still capable of sniping in a pinch.

Top turret was nerfed into the ground with the HD model, I laugh at E2s that run it now as you can pen it all day with regular ammo on tier 5s.

Stock with derp is best IMO.  It allows you to at least be relevant in tier 8 matches as you can perma-track tier 8 heavies if needed, getting you decent XP and credits via assist damage.  M1A1 is okay when you're top tier but it rapidly becomes useless as you fall lower on the tank list as it doesn't have the pen, mobility, or DPM to be threatening to higher tier heavies.

I carry 6 HEAT and the rest are HE.   HEAT into the side of a Tiger is hilarious, second only to 4 shotting a T8 heavy from behind

Same load here, exactly 6 HEAT and the rest HE. Not many chances for the HEAT to be effective, but the Tiger's sides are perfect.

Thanks for the tip.

I seem to be getting only a 1/3 of the damage as I normally do with the 2nd 76.  I'll stick with that for now, and swap off when I get bored.  Retaining the 1st turret.

Remember the 105 has a very different playstyle vs the 76mm.   You are no longer hampered by poor penetration and can effectively engage any target regardless of facing.  You also need to have more faith in your armor than with the 76 because of the slower aim, but thats why you have the turret face of shell disintegration.   If you can maintain hull down, you can stay relatively well protected from really anything short of 200mm pen assuming proper placement of the field and good awareness of the unfolding combat

I use the 1st turret and 1st 76.  I carry AP, gold and HE,  HE for spg , some TDs and helping to reset cap. I do pretty good with that set up,

I agree with others that its best to go with the derp gun with stock turret. Though the M1A1 is also a good gun, its just personal preference on which gun you want. You should never use the second turret because it is not worth it to get the M1A2 gun, and besides, if you want to use that gun, get an Easy Eight because it is better equiped to use the M1A2 then the Sherman Jumbo

Derp and first(the one with actual armor) Turret. Tons of steel wall and love disintegrating scouts in 1 shot lol.
