Hello Tankers,

Many of you have had questions about this policy so far. We gathered your questions from here, and other places and these are the responses we received from HQ. I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Question: The ability to lock onto a target that isn’t highlighted, is that illegal?

  • Answer: This is now considered a cheat.

Question: Why not just get rid of all mods?

  • Answer: We love mods, we just find some of the mods functions create an unfair advantage, which is why you’ll see us talking about functionality instead of specific mods.

Question: Can Wargaming ban me without giving reason and/or evidence?

  • Answer: When we ban someone for using cheats, we state in the message that a forbidden game function was used. We don’t provide any details on when a player was detected or what kind of cheat was detected because we don’t want to compromise our detection methods. It’s actually a widespread thing in the gaming industry – for example, VAC bans work in a similar way.

Question: Why not just ban people outright for using cheats?

  • Answer: Striking down the hammer is permanent. We want to give people an opportunity to course correct and continue to enjoy World of Tanks

Question: When will the cheat detection system start working?

  • Answer: It is up and running

Question: Do Warnings/Bans/Points on your account ever get removed or reset?

  • Answer: It's 2 strikes and you’re out. For the first offense, the player gets a 7-day ban, for the 2nd – permaban. There are no plans to reset flags over a time period for now.

Question: Is Arty Battle Assist still approved by Wargaming to use?

  • Answer: Yes, we’re still okay with it.

Question: What about the function that shows and calculates Camo and detectability rating in-game?

  • Answer: This is currently under consideration

Question: Can we use mods that change the color of destroyed tanks?

  • Answer: Yes, you can use mods that change the color of destroyed tanks.

Question: Can I use a mod that allows me to zoom out more?

  • Answer: Yes, you can use a mod which allows you to zoom out further from your own tank.

Question: Are reload timers illegal?
Answer: Yes.

Please let us know of any further questions you may have in this thread.

No appeals to a perma ban possible either? Well there goes the player base once they're "caught".

So, then mods that lock on to a "Highlighted" Tank are legal?  --->  As long as we don't mention them by name,  AND they obey this rule of functionality ----> Question: The ability to lock onto a target that isn’t highlighted, is that illegal?

"So, can a mod that locks on "highlighted tanks" only be Legal ??"

XVM  6.4.8 has a reload timer built into it. Is it ok to disable it, and continue to use xvm?

Q: How does this policy differ from the anti cheat policy's in the past?

Will you fix current auto aim, or a least make it function as it once did?

With the functionality it has now it is as good as useless.

Yea, really.  Will it actually be enforced, or is it just another passing Fad ?  Like in the past, the honest one's get the crap beat out of them who don't have the mods loaded up to use?

Can we get a clarification on what exactly defines a reload timer?

Some mods display an enemies actual reload factoring equipment, consumables, and crew skill and allow you to see when they are reloading. These are clearly illegal. The gray area is mods that display the statistics for vehicles such as damage, pen, and the base reload. Something like this could be useful for a player that is new to the game and trying to learn how to combat enemy tanks.

Question: Are info panels illegal now too? (the ones that show the penetration numbers of an enemy gun, the armor numbers for the front/side/rear armor and the weight.)

Question: What is the rationale behind not removing xvm/making it illegal? It doesn't really help you make good decisions, it just tells you (1) who to focus (which isn't a good thing for obv reasons) and (2) who to pick on for being bad (which sometimes is deserved, but seeing as chat was removed partially for that reason...)

Question: Why is the white paint mod for dead tanks illegal across some servers? I don't see how it gives an advantage. I've never used it, just find it odd.

So are we going to get hosed if we get caught. I'd like some sort of system in place to catch possible fall throughs or mistakes. I don't really want a week ban because they picked up something legal by accident. Anti-cheating systems across any game are notorious for catching people who weren't doing anything wrong. The last thing I want is over 9k battles and a good chunk of money to go down the drain because I fell 2 feet too far, and they thought I had some sort of fly hacking on.

Q : Are you considering stopping XVM from being able to display player statistics in the matches?

Because, everyone knows the Purples just don't want to be focused is all this is about.  Everyone already knows the answer to this even the Devs do.  And that's related to a WNx system thingy which is not part of WG's concern, which is a 3rd party site thingy.

According to them, they now have new detection software. They never did in the past.

Frankly, I don't believe one word of it. I'll believe it when dozens of people show up saying they were banned for illegal mods...because God knows this game is RIFE with them.

Off the topic of out of game modification but on the topic of fair play.  Will WG stop failed platooning.  If not stop it, make a punishable action.

Just Asking.

No. They love people's ability to troll in game. People have begged for the last 5 years to do away with that and they flat out refuse to do it.
