If you take the time to make a skin for a tank please spend the extra 2 minutes it takes to make a AO file with it! What is the sense of making a skin if you can't use your camo in game because it bleeds through on the skin or the original national emblems and/or inscriptions are still on there. Seriously I can't believe that people make skins and don't make the file that makes camo, emblems and inscriptions transparent. I'm not a modder and I don't have the know how or computer programs myself to make working AO files. Do you know how many great skins there are out there that I can't use because the author didn't take the time to create an AO file? Here is one:

http://forum.worldof...st__480#topmost

Check out that second E-110 skin, it's awesome. I would love to use it except I can't because even if I turn off my in game camo (Which I shouldn't have to) every other E-100 in game that DOES have camo bleeds through the skin and looks like crap. DON'T be that guy! Take your skins across the finish line! Make the AO files!

Geez.

Instead of creating a seperate thread and complaining about it where those modders most probably won't read it why don't you send them a DM and point out that they're not properly editing their camo masks?

Honestly I've tried working with AO files and just can't seem to get it to work out right, as for emblems I could start making .xml edits for that, but don't really have the time usually. I use the annoying features remover mod out of Aslain's modpack to blank camos and emblems, it's an easy solution for the most part. You can also get it stand alone here if modpacks aren't your thing: http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/445306-0916-clan-logo-inscription-and-camouflage-remover/

P.S. I try not to complain about or criticize free things, just saying.

Most of the good mods are from the European Server for which I don't have an account so I can't point out the error of their ways to them.

That mod pack is fine but it removes ALL of the camo/emblems/inscriptions for ALL tanks. We just need the ones removed for the tanks that people take the time to make a skin for. I know they are free but it is like being invited over to someone's house for dinner and the once you set down to eat they tell you that you need to bring your own silver wear. It boggles my mind. If you are talented enough to make custom skins to share with the WoT community, don't leave us hanging on the AO files.

MilkyM4n your a great example on how to do skins right. You always include the AO files and even go so far to make working marks of excellence for your remodels. Others should emulate you. I know you have a European account in the forums, maybe you could relay my grip to the tank factory guy who makes those great skins but forgets the AO files. I made a separate thread so anyone who makes skins will know how annoying it is to not be able to use both the skin AND our in game camo. Think of it as a public service announcement.

Im serious... World of Lego tanks... the tanks are Lego, they shoot different colored 2x4 Bricks depending on shell type, and when you die your tank blows up in pieces...

I think that would be a dope mod...

What is the problem you are having with AO files exactly?

Put up the message on the main remodeling thread.

One thing to keep in mind is that some people don't know about the camouflage mask within the AO map and those skin creators that do might use image editing software that can't handle alpha channel editing.

Yes exactly, like I use paintshop pro x, which I think might have the ability, but I've no clue how. I tried a few things already and got nowhere, even after reading what little literature/guides I could find on the matter, which is generally more for photoshop, which I don't have sadly. As for paintshop pro x there's not much I could find. The annoying features remover is sort of restrictive I know, best you can do is take out a specific insignia for a nation or inscriptions and emblems which are all individual. I do know where your frustration is coming from though, I wondered that myself when I first starting downloading skins, then when I started making them I found myself saying 'ahhh! I see now it's a little more difficult than I thought' lol. Milky was kind enough to take me under his wing just a tad and help me with a model swap and skin, where I had to learn to edit the visual_processed files which was fun, but I still can't figure out AO's, mask layers or alpha channels. Work in progress lol!

There's a guide for dealing with this problem in the subforum now. Point them there if someone doesn't remove the camo mask on their skins. :P

As I said on the guide, bless your heart Milky! For me this is huge because it has been a silent concern of mine for myself when I do a skin. I like the AFR Mod and it works for my purposes, but it isn't ideal lol! Saved to my favorites bar and already downloaded it, again thank you! :teethhappy:
