I was surprised that it was only 250+. Better than nothing I guess.

I am skeptical though. WG promised to ban bots, but there are still plenty of those around.

as ive stated many, many, times in the past, lock the res mod folder from the server side so the players have no access to it. problem solved. oh and for the people who have girls in panzer and the rest of the skins you worked on, put em on your pokemon......

None of them will post. Here's why (using statistics)

Statistics show that only 30% of the player base. Of that 30%, only 8% read on a regular basis (and therefore are reading this post)

There are 252 cheaters (according to WG), so if statistics are true, then only 14 of the banned cheaters actually read this post.

Of the 14 cheaters, Half will click away having just read the title.

Only 7 are even considering reading.

After reading the post and realizing how stupid it is, the rest will click away like I am about to do. ;)

Good Luck Have Fun!

RU says they banned 15,937 players for 7 days and that the next ban for those busted players will be perma-ban.  https://ritastatusreport.live/2016/11/29/wargaming-banning-illegal-mod-users/

I do not know where the 250 number came from, OP did not give any link to a source.

Found it:  http://worldoftanks.com/en/news/pc-browser/17/first-wave/

Recently we outlined how we would clamp down on players who gain an advantage in combat with third-party mods and other software, as part of the new Fair Play Policy; a renewed effort to make World of Tanks a more fair play experience for everyone.

Following up on our promise to clean up the game, we’ve taken action against players who were found to be using prohibited modifications. As it stands, 252 players on the NA server are banned for seven days. Those who participated in “Top Tankers”were automatically disqualified from the event. If they continue to use illegal mods after the ban is lifted, they will be banned permanently.

We’ll continue tracking down those who violate the Fair Play Policy and make sure they can’t spoil your enjoyment of World of Tanks. Expect more ban waves in the future.

I really do not see why OP is so jimmies rustled about calling [edited]on this.

I just completed placing the bans myself, and there were 252 of them. For this first round, we deliberately were very careful. We set the detection criteria extremely strict -  meaning we would detect fewer people but the ones detected we were sure they were using illegal mods. We have less strict sets of criteria, and could have set it such that we detected far more people, but then there would have been the possibility of false positives.

We plan to run the detection criteria regularly, and continue updating our detection methods and algorithms. We expect to complete another ban wave before the end of the year, so people who continue to use these programs will receive consequences. We knew that we wouldn't get everyone on the first pass, but will continue to work towards fair play for everyone.

sorry but WG only banned a hand full of morons that was blatantly outright using the hacks. there are still craptons of people still using the hacks.

I don't believe WG when they say they are doing anything about the cheaters/hackers.

You're talking about a company that thinks Naming and Shaming is bad and wrong.

Sorry but the hacker/cheaters should be Named and Shamed, there should be a backlash against them

You got trolls that defend the hackers and cheaters that say "oh there's no cheating and hacking in this game, its all skill." I call [edited]on that, when some one posts anything about it they are liars and trolled on the forums.

they tell people to post a replay but yet when they do, they report the person for "Naming and Shaming," and when they don't they say well PM me it, well it is PM'ed to them and again they get reported for "Naming and Shaming" and Banned.

a good start would be to have A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING of what is actually a banned mod...  another good start would be to go after the various obvious bots, some of which have been name-and-shamed on these forums numerous times.  good job that you account wiped one of the most notorious ones in june/july after 55,000 battles - except that he went right back to botting 5k battles per month.

variations of the bot he runs include one that drives in circles on the spawn auto-aiming at lit targets through terrain, to being completely inactive and only activating when an enemy reaches some proximity threshold.  this 'player' has now ruined the gaming experiences of players in over 83,000 battles now, x 29 players = ~2.4M player interactions that have been ruined.  compared to fringe mods like autoaim+ or reload timers you guys are going after the wrong things in terms of "fair play"

I myself am running so few mods now that I'm fairly close to vanilla - even using the horrible stock reticles (RIP Melty's)

The outrage is real because the pubbies are realizing they can't find the list of banned players by checking top clans for names... What could this mean??!?

How many top 10 clan players (of which +90% use cheats) have you baned?
