and view range because lights should be out spotted by T10 meds consistently. Hell my Object 263 out spots light tanks with nothing but optics

Funny you say that, I get my high tiered lights above 460 range and I won't be spotted by many enemy lights.  I can only imagine that while I try and keep my high tiered lights as scouts (with skills, optics, and vents), they set their's up for attacking.

Yeah, I want to know how they're going to compensate people for the XP they've gotten.

I got my T-54 and T54E1 through grinding the T-54 ltwt. and T49 respectively. Great tanks, both of them, but I don't want to spend a long time grinding through them again.

Hopefully we'll get compensated for the XP we've earned on them already.

when the amx 30/30b was released, the 1390 was suddenly "un-elited" - meaning you had to regrind if you wanted those lines.

I strongly suspect that wargaming will do the same thing when they flesh out the LT lines to tier 10 - which by the way I think is a moronic idea.

the whole point of LT's is that they are the "little guy" in the team.  they don't have to carry their own hp pool weight in order to influence matches.  they spot, get intel, suppress a flank through vision control, harass the enemy with tiny cuts, and they counter scout.  they aren't supposed to be "carry hard tanks" - but they can in certain circumstances.

making a light tank "top tier" and "rebalancing" it means they now HAVE to carry their own weight.  and on 90% of the maps where their role will be gimped anyway due to crappy city/funnel/corridor maps.  really good players will play them out of boredom, and as a challenge.  really bad players will play it, and camp the back of the map, and be even more detrimental to pubby games than if they were camping in other classes.

and as an example of what I'm talking about, a Leo 1 won't magically become a "great tank" in the current map meta just because you give it camo on the move, buff its view range, and nerf the view range of other mediums.  especially if lower tier LTs light it anyway.  the crap maps are the problem.  (mind you I adore the Leo 1, but only play it sparingly as it too frequently gets out classed due to the maps, not due to the enemy comps)

"Q – If current tier 8 LT move to tier 9, should we prepare XP on them to research the tier 10 ones?

A – Not decided yet."

WG killed light tanks with thier maps, what's the point.

This and passive scouting was killed off when they removed A LOT of good bushes. They need to add some very small bushes that only work for light tanks back into the game so passive scouting can be revived and make some of the harder spotting missions more feasible on a larger amount of maps. Some might argue but what about TDs using those bushes well if they're small enough most TDs can't use the bush/es because they're not large enough.

Anyone have a meaningful confirmation on if the 8's will carry their xp to 9?

We have the amount of xp needed to get to 10.   People in the comments are assuming xp will be carried, but I have not seen anything concrete to that effect.

Nation – Tier 8 (fully research / research tier 9) – 9 (fully researched / research tier 10) – 10 (2nd gun, if applicable)

USSR — 8 (45600/105000) – 9 (67900/219400) – 10
Germany — 8 (59200/131000) – 9 (38500/214500) – 10
USA — 8 (68300/122200) – 9 (79400/227500) – 10 (18900)
France — 8 (39330/220000) – 9 (54200/215000) – 10
China — 8 (45000/253000) – 9 (123900/234000) – 10

This is the key question.

Should people start accumulating xp on the 8's, or is that just a waste?

View PostSpartan_Striker, on Dec 20 2016 - 01:35, said:

I've been wondering that too.

I'm guessing WG will clarify for certain when they make an official announcement on a common test server.

Ima go ahead and stop accelerating crew training just in case :hiding:

If not xp from tier 8 lights, what would be the route to get said T9-10 lights?

The entire tank is being moved up a tier, it stands to reason that the XP will go with it as well...

I guess it would depend on whether they move the current tier 8 lights to tier 10 and fill in lesser tier lights like they did with arty.

generally no. the exp stays at the slot it was earned. if a tank moves up, the exp goes to the new tank taking its spot.

Well, that is ridiculous.  I am halfway to my T-54 and my BatChats.   I don't want to be stuck with some tier 8 tank loaded with xp that I have no use for, when I could be using it to buy these mediums.

They better keep my xp with my tank, and not just with the tier.

The devil is in the details.   I think sometimes the xp moved with the tank.......but, I just don't remember the details of every tech tree change at this point.

Either way,  tradition is not really the key, this is WG after all, they could simply decide one way or another.

fyi, for those who care, you also want to save xp on the

tiger P

4502b

possibly save some xp on mid tier french heavies.  (I forget now)

I am sorry to be the bearer of sh*tty news, but this is what i found on what i think is a blog by a Russian WOT enthusiast...

  • If you have EXP gathered on one of the current tier 8 light tanks ( like AMX 13 90 for exemple) the EXP will stay on the tier 8 tank, however you will get the new tier 8 light tanks as well as the new tier 9 lights, and the crew will stay on the new Tier 9 light tank.

It's just business as usual with WG. they did it to a lot of my warships in world of warships. every time they shuffled them around in the tiers, they make you completely regrind the modules starting with 0 xp. it is a business model, they will make money from those of us sick of grinding.

This could be a misunderstanding... I really hope it is....

It's not... WG is being a bunch of [edited]holes and taking my XP from one tank and sticking it on another so that I don't have the AMX 13 105 right away, but jokes one them (And me) because I got the gold from tournaments to convert the XP anyway...
