Not exactly. Tournaments are on hold because I'm going away on vacation. They will be returning on May 29th with the Ice Cream Social tournaments:)

Wishing you an awesome Vacation!

Just curious as to why this weekends 1v1 is a tier 1 match. Seems a little underwhelming.

Hi!

We try to go through all the tiers in the 1v1 Throwdowns. We hadn't done a tier I in a while, so it was about time for it to show up :)

Is there anyway to be a spectator for the tournament?

Hmmm.  Did you click on the "Special Battle" notification at the bottom of your garage window while in-game?  And follow through by clicking the battle for a tournament round as it appears?  Then select and ready up your tank in the queue?  And finally  transfer your ready tank to the right half of the queue window?   Not sure why you you missed your battles.  Not wanting to sound like an [edited], but the above was my first thought when I saw your post, i.e. you're unfamiliar with the process.  If you are familiar, then I apologize and am mystified by how or why you couldn't join.

I know the first time I did a 1v1 I took a technical defeat in my second battle in a tourney by not going through the whole process again.  I thought after the first battle it would automatically send me on to the second round, etc.  Then I realized I had to click on the Special Battle notification after each round  to proceed on to the next.

I've seen concerns raised here in the forum in the past by participants missing battles in 1v1 tournaments and it usually boiled down to their unfamiliarity with the process of joining a battle once the tournament started.  They'd just see frustrating notifications of technical defeats and draws without knowing why.

Best regards,

Dance, is there an easy way to withdraw or disband a team, once confirmed, from a 1v1 tournament prior to the tournament groupings being set?  Or even after the groupings are set?  I can't seem to find any method of doing such from the tournament web page.

TL.DR ... dear reader, skip the rest of this if you wish.  It just adds backstory.

I've seen complaints issued here by 1v1 tournament participants regarding "no-shows" within their group.  Folks sign up for a 1v1 tourney hoping to face some live, human opponents to test their WoT mettle in a series of battles.  Sitting at your desk for several minutes waiting for a battle to start only to see "Technical Victory" appear can leave some feeling cheated of that experience.  Personally, I don't mind such (nor the free tourney points and gold that goes with it :P ).  But I know others do.  I have clan-mates, with limited time to play WoT, that eschew the 1v1 tournaments (despite the easy gold) because of this inordinate amount of "down-time" with lack of real action.

Earlier on Tuesday this week (IIRC) I signed up for the Tier I 1v1 tourney of  June 3rd.  Later on Wednesday my beautiful wife reminded me of a social function we would be attending that afternoon, precluding my participation in the tournament.  To be fair to others in the tournament, I thought to withdraw my team from the it.  But to no avail, I could find no easy process via the tournament web page, short of a pm to the tournament director (?), to do so.  If such an easy process exists, kind reader, please elucidate me of it.  So, I left my team in the tournament, hoping the other participants in my group would welcome the "Technical Victories" my absence would provide.

As luck would have it, I was able to "play" the first two rounds of the tournament today, garnering two "Technical Victories" ( :D ), before I had to depart.  After my first battle, a quick look at the tournament page for my group revealed that there may be five (5) "no-shows" in the group!  And I was leaving, effectively raising that to six after two battles.  Notwithstanding the easy victories and gold that comes from them, I imagine a few of the remaining participants might of been a bit put off by spending valuable "play time" without any real "play".  Later, upon returning home, checking the results for my group did show that there was indeed five "no-shows" in my group prior to my departure.

So, to reiterate, is there an easy process to withdraw or disband a confirmed team from a 1v1 tournament?

Best regards,

Old Man Zhymm (OMZ)

Hi Dance

My clan mates and I just played in your Ice Cream Social events. We had a overall good experience. We were a bit confused by how to actually start the tournaments, it became clear but we did have to guess a bit. I would suggest that you include a link on the page for the tournaments to a page that lists the steps. You have posted that info in this forum, but it is a bit hard to find.

I look forward to doing more of your tournaments.

Best regards and all that.

I was set as ready and moved myself over and waited about 5 minutes only to get a technical defeat. By chance could I have done something wrong? (Tier II Throwdown!: Tier II. Group 70 - Round 3)

Hi Paper_Block,

Without a screenshot, it is difficult to determine what, if anything, you may have done wrong. The most common causes are:

  • Bringing more than the tier allowed, which usually isn't an issue in a 1v1
  • Not clicking the "Ready" button
  • Not moving from the left to the right side of the Special Battle window

Hey do you think you can scale gold payouts based on tier 500 being the minimum and tier 10 giving out 1k gold plus we need more tier 10 1 v 1 and some of the weekly 5 v 5 should never be tier 4 because that is a derp and rng feast can we get some tier 9 and tier 10 5 b 5

Hi Dance,

I finished tied for 1st with 24 points in the tier 5 1 vs 1 we just did, should I get 2nd place gold or 1st place gold? I received 2nd place gold (400)

There is a tiebreaker process.

Two way tie where A beat B: A wins
Two way tie where A and B draw: stays a tie.
Three way tie where A beats B, A beats C: A wins
Three way tie where A beats B, B beats C, and C beats A: stays a tie
etc...

Based on your gold it sounds like you lost to the first place guy.
