If you've trained your commander with a secondary role skill, which I know are inactive in tanks with that crew member, and he has Jack of All Trades will that skill work once he replaces the crew member killed? So in  a situation where a commander with Situational Awareness replaces a dead radio operator, would that skill work?

No, Jack of All Trades is just for filling in for the primary skill. That particular skill, though, can be useful if you run food in place of a FAK.

Though it sounds good on paper that skill is not worth it.

Personally I run

  1. BiA
  2. Sixth Sence
  3. Repairs
  4. Concealment or what ever

For me this is about what I roll for most of my crews. It might not be perfect but it works for me...

100% on jack of all trades will basically equal a 50% trained crew member replacing your dead one. It is generally only a useful perk if you wish to drop med kit to run food for a tank that lights on fire a lot.

Exactly, what abandoned said, For me its a great 3rd - 5th crew skill. Sixth is the most important commander skill, Bia(for the crew),Then its up for debate, Camo for meds and lights and repairs for TD's and hvy's. Some people do Camo/repairs as the 4th and then 5th they do JATs. As abandoned said its a 50% crew instead of a dead crew member meaning your gun is not completely useless or mobility is not a crawl.  Then you have the option of running food as losing a crew member is not as large of a consequence.
