What I mean is when you look at your stats page what do the numbers mean? Such as win7 win 8 the different percentages you see? I dont understand what they represent. What is more I have not seen any info as showing what they mean. I just did a search but maybe I am asking the wrong thing in the searches. Can someone help me?

tl;dr It's a metric that weighs average damage, kills, and a few other smaller things and produces one number. Overall it's not really too important, but it's nice to go along with your win rate.

Many of the statistics are fairly self explanatory,

WinRate is the percentage of games you win,

HitRatio is the percentage of shots you hit,

win7 win8 and personal rating are all similar, and are an attempt to quantify player skill by factoring in many of the other statistics into one equation.

Let me know if there are others that i missed...

Stats are way for you to choose ( EARN ) your possible extreme favourite color,

to represent you in the game.

Just like I have done.

But on a ' more serious ' note, what this person said indeed.

In short.

Different metrics to measure skill. Individually they aren't worth much, but combined with each other usually gives you a good idea of a players skill level.

Don't worry about them, just play for fun.

If you wrap your head around those numbers, you'll be lost in "statwhore twilight zone" for the rest of your World of Tanks gameplay.

It's basically an aggregate of the things you do in games (damage, kills, cap points/defense, etc, with an emphasis on damage). It's far from perfect, but unfortunately is the best currently available aggregate statistic available for the game, since average XP stupidly takes premium acct bonus into account.

Taken alongside winrate and average tier, it's a decent way to measure skill at a glance. And it can be useful for tracking improvements in your own play.

Ok fantastic thanks for all the info. If I could expand on my OP for a sec because I am not sure 100% what some other things mean. I know win average of course. But when I am looking at my states in the battle page im a little lost. When I look at a tank in the garage it has say for my matilda it has a percentage beside it of  54% but when I go into a battle the xvm says the percentage is lower or the colours dont match lol. I hope that makes sense. Now if I want to boost my win rate does that only take into account the matches I survive or the survival and damage cost? I have to admit I have had a very hard time with that. I want to up the total value people see if they look at my stats while im in a match.

Op, when you are new and still learning the mechanics and gameplay, the most important stats to follow are:

  • Win rate
  • damage per game relative to the HP of the tank you are playing
    • spotting damage can be used for scout tanks
  • hit rate
  • pen rate
  • survival rate

The WN8 can be useful in a tank level, basically giving you a feel for how well you are performing in a particular tank you are grinding, but the overall WN8 is really only interesting when you have 8k-10k games under your belt, IMO. WN8 is a way of gauging against the best players and when you are learning the game, the important thing is to gauge your own development against yourself. It's pointless when you have 2k games to compare with players who 20k games.

I completely agree that WN8 is a much better 'per tank' measurement than an overall measure. I perform much better in certain tanks than others. So I am much more dangerous in certain matches than my overall would indicate. The opposite is also true.

You play against players in one match in one tank. Better to know how they perform in that tank than their overall record.

If you are having fun, and no one is raging at you, they are meaningless numbers for those that feel a need to be "better" than others. If you aren't having fun if you are being raged at regularly, then you can look at those number and get an idea what you might want to change.
