At some point, enabling a ridiculous sociopathic manbaby, and betraying everything they were at least supposed to stand for, just so they could gleefully "own the libs", is going to come back to bite the GOP establishment hard at some point.

I'd like to believe that, but I just don't see it happening.

Just like I don't see the GOP realizing that this is bad for their brand until Trump is out of office.  Hell, he might even continue to be the best thing since Ronald Regan until he dies.  At which point they'll go "wow, that guy really took us for a ride" without a hint of self-reflection or guilt.  I mean, how many years did it take for the GOP to go from "Bush II is the best thing since Ronald Regan, if you're against him you're with the terrorists" to "Bush II kinda sucked, didn't he?"  I'm pretty sure it was the better part of a decade.  And I'm pretty sure the GOP didn't realize they were part of the problem by being mindless enablers, so why would they suddenly realize it now?

When it gets to that point, they'll say "Trump who?" and pretend they never supported him. Just like what they do with Bush II now.

I dont think anyone's gonna be held accountable for last few years of madness to be honest. The people that have enabled him will get voted back into power regardless how worse off their constituents are under his policies.

Part of the "we never liked Bush II" thing is that the Bush family have all been labeled "enemies of Trump" due to Jeb running against him in 2016, and it being pretty clear that HW and Barbara thought of Trump and his cronies in about the same terms most of us here do.

Oh what brave new world is this, where having the correct opinion leads to people denying you and your family?

Finally got around to actually finishing the grind with Bismarck. It is amazing to me just how many people don't know how to brawl with a BB.

Turns out that when you declare victory over a rat infestation and leave the area, the rats tend to come back.  To be fair though, it's not like Trump ever claimed to be a good rat eradicator.

Your politics are in quite a sad state of affairs when this sentiment is raised. I fear for the future.

Radioactive crabs from Fukushima.  Blaming Fukushima crabs just adds in that special little dose of whatabout-ism that is Russia's hallmark.

Part of the problem is believing there is a "victory" possible in the traditional sense, you can keep groups like that smaller and less effective but no one should be expecting them to just be gone.  They either split into smaller groups, change the name, or wait it out.

Well, they are both oil states that have lots of guns .

In other news, this one in the "no crap Sherlock department"

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/meet-the-press/deep-boiling-anger-nbc-wsj-poll-finds-pessimistic-america-despite-n1045916

"The poll finds that 70 percent of Americans say they feel angry “because our political system seems to only be working for the insiders with money and power, like those on Wall Street or in Washington.” Forty-three percent say that statement describes them "very well."
