Just from a cursory search really the only subs that would be playable with their historical speeds in the WoWS timeline would be Nautilus and Seawolf.

Subs could be made playable with realistic speeds two ways. Have them placed in the beginning of a game far out in front of the main forces or two have them in a night mode. There is a third option. Combine the first two.

What are the surfaced vs submerged speeds for submarines? All I've heard is that they're atrociously fake, but no hard numbers.

Do you use oils and the like to weather the tank?  If so, do you do it before or after your put the decals on?

I don't use decals, but the conventional wisdom goes that you weather last.

Surface speeds buffed into the mid-high 20s on a lot of subs.

Periscope depth speed slower, sometimes roughly historical submerged speed.

And then the really bizarre, fully submerged speeds will be equal to the surface speeds.

Holy crapis that nonsense.

THERE IS A REASON SUBS WERE USED TO SINK FREIGHTERS.

Posting that simple fact in the forums is now getting people harassed by WG's forum-white-knights, and banned by their moderators.

Historical submerged speeds would make sense if periscope depth were Standard Battleship slow, and they only got to hit their ~28 knots or whatever while actually out of the water. They could adjust the water distance factor here, too, making underwater penetrations more of a thing (and were earlier in alpha/beta from what I understand) so ships could actually land AP penetrations on them while snorkeling. In that way, the only time a submarine 'sneaks up' on someone is if they don't move for long periods of time, or if the submarine takes a truly long time to circle around while snorkeling.

But that is not fun torpedo beats style gameplay! Only BBs get to be slow lumbering ships while multi-thousand tonnage DDs get to stop, reverse, stop and go forward like speedboats.

Speaking of oil prices, they're apparently going back down again already.

The historical meta for subs in all navies was that they were to be sent far ahead to engage the enemy first and then the main surface force would strike.

A misclassified medium forced to become a heavy premium with a stylised name like the Defender, Skorpion, Mauerbreakfast and STG Guard instead of something to add into the US tank tree.

The US doesn't have enough tanks to make a new tree out of!  We just don't have the information!  We're looking, we swear!  As soon as we find something, we'll add it to the game as a new premium as a tech tree option!

Pretty sure the game could use more reward vehicles from what little info found anyways! Why not use them before more info can be found!

(In 1945 the U.S. Army acquired plans to the German heavy tank "Mouse" and developed their own version..( The Rat ) it was even more heavily armored then the Mouse and sported a bigger gun. ;)

I'm not so sure that's happening as its base skin has a substantial amount of weathering and accessories on it.

It very likely is happening. And the accessories and weathering dont mean much given that the Mauerbrecher has the same sort of stuff on it. This is however reminding me to back up its base model and textures....

I'm going to give the T54E2 a hard pass.  I don't care if it turns out to be an absolute necessity for tier 8 play like the Defender.  If they don't care enough to make it a Tier 9 medium tank as it should be, I don't care enough to give them money for it.  In fact, I think I'm done with World of Tanks and Wargaming.  I haven't played in weeks, and I don't miss it.  For all I care, they can take the entire American tank line and make it available only to people who do Clan Wars.  They could add in the Edelweiss, Nameless, and Hafen for the US server and I wouldn't give a shit.  I just don't care anymore.  They've lost a customer.

Don't get me wrong, I want to like the game.  I've played for years and had fun.  But since Wargaming obviously doesn't give a crap about the integrity of their flagship product, why should I grace them with my money and my time?  And it's sad, because World of Tanks is the only thing that Wargaming has done that hasn't been a miserable failure.  If they continued to open up new lines for me to grind, I'd probably still play.  But they don't.  They take the tanks I want and either stick them behind some hellish, moronic grind available one week out of every month, make them Clan Wars exclusives, or they nerf it to tier 8 and try to sell it to me.  That tells me they don't care about me, or my patronage.  And if they don't care, I'm not going to care either.

Maybe if they actually expand the US lines with new and interesting tanks, I might come back.  But I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

For me, in addition to all that, is that the finally stop dilly dallying with stupid roundabout solutions to premium ammo and just NERF the bloody things. They should only have 20-40 more penetration with that number reduced the higher the tier and do 15-20% less damage. Then we can finally reverse all the overbuffed armour in this game and return some semblance of common sense into the game.

And overall tightening of the RNG of penetration and damage range would also greatly help.

But hey, introducing another mechanic that benefits the Russian tree fantasy wankfest seems to be more of a priority.

[edit]

Monster Hunter: World sure can have some epic end of mission screen cap especially if it is a teammate that dies instead.

Spoiler
