Speaking of oil prices, they're apparently going back down again already.

https://www.axios.com/oil-prices-saudi-arabia-attacks-reuters-report-33122b26-e6c8-4405-9185-9a9dc7f2f063.html

The reality is that for all the talk of "peak oil" the world is awash in the stuff and will likely stay that way due to the increasing rise of the "non-carbon" economy. One also suspects that there is lots of redundancy built into the Saudi oil industry. Hard to keep prices jacked up because of those structural realities.

Welp, Beta O'Riurke stepped in it at the latest debate.

"Hell yes we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47...."

That's going to get played and quoted in every gun control debate for decades, every time proponents say that confiscation isn't the end goal.

Beto is the answer to a question that no one is asking.

As I recall, their big idea was to whittle down the US forces via destroyer, submarine and aircraft attack until they reached an area near Japan, then annihilate the remaining US fleet in a Jutland-style engagement.

Edit:  Wait, were you talking about "Japan's naval war games" or "US naval war games with Japan as the enemy"?  What I just posted was Japan's idea of how to defeat America.

These were the games held at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport (RI). Actually, the games were much more variegated than you might think in that the USN was not interested in teaching cookbook solutions to set problems but in teaching quick decision-making under circumstances of less-than-ideal information. The ultimate result though is that a generation of USN officers came to the conclusion that there was no point in giving the IJN a battle that favored Tokyo's advantages; even if it meant writing off the Philippines in the short run. If there was a blind spot it was that the impact of the submarine was undervalued.

Finally finished the kit last night!  Painted the canvas mantlet cover khaki/olive green on Tuesday night, sprayed a matte finishing coat on it last night.

I honestly have no idea how they were able to fight that tank - it's long and tall but narrow, with a narrow hull and turret.  All I can say from looking at the Chieftain's Hatch video and looking at the scale model, is that poor damned loader.

Conqueror also looks so much better without the add-on armor, much like Chieftain looks better without the Stillbrew.

The door panels on my car were rattling this morning because if you don't have the sound system up loud enough to make them rattle you are doing it wrong.

From reading Rob Griffin's book... from dug-in positions when possible, from long range.

I think I agree about the add-on armour too.

Actually, I prefer the look of Chieftain with Stillbrew. Seems meaner.

The Stillbrew does look pretty cool, actually.  I like the Chieftain either/or.

Agreed, also the "brew" part facilitates more tea jokes.

Yep, all the Reapers and Global Hawks went on strike to protest unfair wages and lack of recognition of their achievements.

The question is: are they for or against the forthcoming war with Iran?
