Looking for a good article on it, but evidently some astronomers are accusing Elon Musk of "sky pollution" and "space littering" because his vanity project of internet satellites is already starting to interfere with ground-based astronomy.

Reading up on Ilhan Omar's possible campaign finance violations (making large vaguely-labeled payments from her campaign funds to a consulting group run by her alleged lover, etc, etc)... and I was reminded that currently the Federal Election Commission doesn't have a quorum, and thus literally cannot act to enforce election laws or campaign finance laws.   And of course there appear to be no plans to resolve this issue.

On the doubleplusgood side, all that stress seems to finally be taking a toll.  Donald "healthiest man alive" Trump was rushed to Walter Reed on Saturday for a totally routine, unscheduled physical.  He also went to Walter Reed on Saturday to meet with a courageous young man undergoing surgery there, as he usually does as President.

On top of age, weight, and diet there have been indications of adderall or sudafed abuse.  It would also explain why some of his speeches are so high energy while some are slow and slurring with lots of sniffing.  None of the above is good for the heart of a man in his 70s.

At some point, the GOP or a replacement party has to get off the stupid train.

A great irony of all this is that we could end up with an onerous one-party system at least for a while... and it wouldn't be the GOP.

There's more than enough disagreement among Democrats that a severely weakened GOP would not suddenly turn them into a monolith.  We need 4 or 5 parties, not 2.  Long term goal though, as much as I would wish otherwise.

As an aside, he mentions this towards the end of the article:

"It would also allow the six Democratic presidential candidates in the Senate to campaign through the primary season instead of returning to Washington for a trial."

There's a theory floating around that Pelosi may be wanting the impeachment to get to the Senate early next year so that those who are current Senators and running for the nomination can't continue to actively campaign because they'll be locked in the Senate.  Effectively putting her thumb on the scale for those that aren't.

I fully agree we need more parties.

And I get that eventually the Democrats would break up, the cracks are already evident, but I don't want to deal with the single party that holds on for a while.

I'm kind of really not at all surprised that that's his level of notes.  Or that he seems to think a statement now will retroactively affect his behavior in the past?

Smelling the Sharpie of Wisdom makes the laws of causality work in reverse.  It's also like "Death Note", if you write something using the Sharpie of Wisdom, it automatically becomes true.

On another note, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the next talking point will be "He didn't say "this is a quid pro quo" during his phone call with Zelinsky, so everything is fine".

He lives in his own delusional world.

He's the kind of liar who sells his lies by believing them, by making "the truth" whatever he's saying at the time. When he says the call was "perfect" and he "did nothing wrong", it's because he really believes it was perfect and he did nothing wrong.

In a way, he's more dangerous as POTUS because of this than if he was actually shrewd.

It's funny if you think of Donald Trump and Donald Trump as two different people.  You have the Donald Trump that makes dumb decisions, then you have the Donald Trump that has to explain why the other him made that dumb decision.  It's like decision Donald hates explanation Donald and is trying to get him stuck in something he can't explain away.

Half the time explanation Donald has no idea what the heck decision Donald did, so he just assumes everything was fine and that the Fake News Media is just trying to make decision Donald look bad.

And now for something completely different.

I've been playing a lot of Star Wars games lately (new SWTOR content and Jedi Fallen Order), and this popped up on my social media feeds. It is an oldie, but still a goody.

New expansion came out about a month ago. Adds Onderon as a world. And somewhere else, but Onderon's the only recognizable one. I finally bothered starting working through KotFE/KotET on a character around the time it came out.

EDIT: Oh right. Level cap increased to 75 and the command ranks were removed and the system was replaced with Renown. If you happened to have sets with bonuses at 70, the set bonuses stop working once you hit 71.

Devin Nunes is an idiot.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/471091-devinnunesisanidiot-trends-after-vindman-corrects-lawmaker-about-his-official

Every time I catch him speaking in the impeachment hearings, he's ranting about Ukraine and 2016 and Democrats and how the DNC staffers he tried to summon related to his wackadoodle conspiracy theories haven't been added to the list.

Hey, as long as it keeps his head on his shoulders for a few more minutes, he'll try to make the public believe anything.

I never even added KOTET or KOTFE, really don't care at all for the one-size-fits-none story they imposed (particularly on non-force-using characters).   I also didn't care at all for what that story did to the setting of the game.

For a while I made suggestions on their forums and such that they include a way for characters to bypass that story, and start up in the changed setting after the time skip involved in other things, either entirely or via a short set of missions... eventually they started mass-banning people from their forums for criticizing KOTET/KOTFE.

I've read the spoilers... I wasn't impressed.

To me it came across as EAware writing a continuation of the story for the Jedi Knight and maybe Sith Warrior... and then saying "eh, good enough, that'll work for everyone".  What I read doesn't fit most of the other characters, especially the non-Force-users.

Should add Jim Jordan to that.

Also, for the party that is supposed to be so much about honoring service members they sure turned on that guy at the drop of a hat.

Wearing dress uniform when doing something as formal as testifying before congress?  Must be a stunt.

Doing his job as part of our foreign policy apparatus?  Nope, we're going to subtly, or not so subtly, hint that he's got dual loyalties.

What the in actual [edited], Bulgaria?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/20/bulgaria-sofia-racism-roma-everybody-hates-us-anti-gypsy-abuse

"The government of prime minister Boyko Borissov is propped up by a grouping of three small rightwing populist parties known collectively as the “United Patriots”. They are made up of the National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB), the Bulgarian National Movement and the Attack party.

Krasimir Karakachanov, head of the Bulgarian National Movement, holds three portfolios – deputy prime minister, minister for defence and minister for public order and security. His “Roma integration strategy,” or “concept for the integration of the unsocialised Gypsy (Roma) ethnicity” to give it its formal name, is due to be presented to the Bulgarian parliament and could soon become law.

It defines Roma as “asocial Gypsies,” a term used by the Nazis, and calls for limits on the number of children some Roma women can have; the introduction of compulsory “labour education schools” for Roma children and forced work programmes for sections of the community. It also depicts the Roma as “non-native Europeans” left over from the Ottoman empire."

Speaking of Hong Kong, whenever the HK cinema really gets going again the next Jackie Chan needs to make a movie about this:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/at-embattled-hong-kong-university-a-dramatic-escape/ar-BBWTNIi?

"Hundreds of protesters fled from the Polytechnic University or surrendered overnight and on Monday amid running battles on nearby streets, where demonstrators threw petrol bombs and rocks at police. Some made it out by rope and motorcycle.

"Some rioters were seen escaping by abseiling off a footbridge to getaway vehicles below," police said in a statement. "Our officers gave chase and were able to interrupt 37 of them, including the drivers."
