I am having a total popcorn moment watching the utter failure of Google Stadia.

What's up? Has it announced that it wants to destroy all humans? Or did it just melt?

That look, that stance, the pointing... Her artist must've had some fun this time. Totally the wrong thread for this, I know, but I thought it was funny.

I'm sure that a certain denialist that's been posting their drivel in the Off-Topic subforum will hate this: Turns out the majority of climate models since 1970 have accurately predicted rising global temperatures.

And another source that's not The Guardian

I like the part when a Canadian mathematician completely thrashes the Hockey Stick chart that was used in Frankenstein Gore's Inconvenient Truth.

Thrashed so bad that the case was thrown out of court.

https://www.manhattancontrarian.com/blog/2019-8-26-michael-mann-hockey-stick-update-now-definitively-proven-to-be-fraud

"The story of Ball’s vindication, and of Mann’s shame, is a somewhat long one, and turns on Mann’s flat refusal to share publicly the data and methodology by which he constructed the Hockey Stick graph. In about 2003 a very talented Canadian mathematician named Steve McIntyre began an effort to replicate the Mann/Bradley/Hughes work. McIntyre started with a request to Mann to provide the underlying data and methodologies (computer programming) that generated the graph. To his surprise, McIntyre was met not with prompt compliance (which would be the sine qua non of actual science) but rather with hostility and evasion."

It's all just so diabolical.

"As of today, I can’t even find any coverage of the court result in any “mainstream” outlet."

Basically, someone in Google thought it would be a great idea if they could farm the data of a bunch of gamers and use it to sell advertising and all their other crap.

So they threw a bunch of money at a bad concept that there's no market for, that the infrastructure doesn't exist for and probably won't for 20 years, etc, and it's blowing up in their face.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Stadia supposed to be the little streaming box that streams whatever game you want instead of you owning the game?

Sheesh, sure have been a lot of Mike Bloomberg commercials on the TV lately.  I wonder how much money he's blowing to make himself the single most-seen candidate on channels in Michigan?

Imagine if he had just used that $37 million wasted on ads across the country to help people instead.

Help people? He doesn't want to help people. He only wants power. Power to control what arms you own, what you have in your home, how large your sugary drink is... Poooooower!!! UN-LIMITEEEED POOOOOWWWEEERRRR!!!

Just like all politicians, actually (including Trump, who is basically Bloomie but with an (-R-) next to his name instead). Which is why giving them more power by asking them to Do Something (-TM-) isn't always the best thing to do...

If those lazy poor people would just use their bootstraps to lift themselves up like he did, they wouldn't need help.

You ended up having to buy access to each game, as I read it.

Yeap, just another self-righteous half-witted ego-maniac who thinks that his success makes him better and smarter and more worthy to make decisions than anyone else.  Just another Trump.

And just another candidate for the D nomination who will hand the White House right back to Trump if he's the opponent.

Right?  It's not that hard to choose to be born into wealth.  You just check the "born into money" option during the character creation process.  Too many people think that the "born in America" option makes things easy, but it really doesn't.  You need to spend the extra points getting the "born into money" option, or you'll find life to be a bigger pain in the neck than it should be.  Me?  I was dumb.  I decided to spread my character creation points out to make a nice, well-rounded person.  I didn't know min-maxing was the way to go.

At least I wasn't stupid enough to choose the "Born in PRC" and "female" flaws, thinking they'd give me a bunch of extra points to sink into other stats.  I mean, yeah that combination frees up a LOT of points, but what's the point in getting all those extra creation points when the resulting person lives an average of maybe 40 seconds?

Oh, the denialists will either just ignore it or use some conspiracy theory level mental gymnastics to dismiss it.

Denialists aren't reasonable people, they are effectively religious fanatics.

Real talk... min-maxing is usually the only way to go... :P

Honestly, I accidentally hit the "randomizer" option. Let me tell you something: NEVER hit the button with the dice on it. You'll end up wishing for goblins, or a convenient Truck-chan. It took a LOOONG time for me to even get here, and heck, it seems like the randomizer option has a bug where it launches you without actually setting all your points. Needless to say, tech support is asking me if I tried restarting yet... And I still can't find the HUD visibility adjustment!

Sadly to many kept abusing the American Dream exploit in previous patches so "born in America" perk had to be nerfed into the ground.

I took the 'fast learner' perk, but it's rendered irrelevant by the 'stressed easily' flaw, leading to me only being able to level up useless knowledge skills in the 'nerd knowledge' category.
