August 12th, 1898.  On this day, at Midnight Greenwich Mean Time, an invasion is launched by the inhabitants of the planet Mars.  The Martians, their planet depleted of resources and their population dying of starvation, gamble their survival on a surprise invasion upon the technologically primitive population of Earth.

Which reminds me, I really need to re-watch Battle: Los Angeles... Wonder if I could get wife to watch Cowboys and Aliens. I remember enjoying that back when it came out, never did get the 'hate' for it, as it were.

If any readers out there have experience with Neon Genesis Evangelion, you really, really need to watch the final Evangelion film.  It's now free for viewing on Amazon Prime (you know, apart from the Amazon Prime subscription costs).  It's called "Thrice upon a Time", and it's an amazing send off to the series.  I give it 11/10.

I'll check that out!

It's funny that the thing that pushed them to the financial behemoth they are today is the thing they're doing away with. I'm thinking they'll survive because their are still enough simps out there that will pay for lingerie and feet pics.

I'm assuming you've watched Neon Genesis Evangelion, given that you said you're going to check it out.  Which is good, but keep in mind that this is the fourth and final movie of the "Rebuild of Evangelion" theatrical films.  If you have not already done so, you should probably watch "1.11: You Are (Not) Alone", "2.22: You Can (Not) Advance", and "3.33: You Can (Not) Redo" before watching "3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time" so as to minimize confusion*.  Fortunately, all four films are streaming on Amazon Prime for free.  The original ending film "End Of Evangelion" is not strictly necessary to fully enjoy "3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time", but it certainly helps in the enjoyment.

(Well, you might be able to skip "1.11: You Are (Not) Alone" because it's a pretty straight retelling of the series right up to the salt crystal.  You'd be missing an amazing final battle, though.  However, "2.22: You Can (Not) Advance" goes off the rails at the end, and by "3.33" you are firmly on Ozzy's crazy train, with no rails in sight.)

* Confusion like "Who is that brown-haired girl, and why is there a pink evangelion in this film?"

Upon further reading they are going to allow "nudity" but not "sexually explicit content", where exactly that line is going to get drawn I don't know but for sure plenty of room for simp material yeah.

A bit conspiratorial but I wonder how much of this may have been due to the porn industry, which is larger and more powerful than most probably want to admit, flexing it's muscles behind the scenes. I think there was at least a couple high profile porn stars that didn't renew contracts with production companies in order to focus on OnlyFans.  Wouldn't be the first to try to squash competition, won't be the last.

I figured since they bothered to number them, but I can totally see someone doing that.

Possibly. More likely the financial liability porn sites face with being lackluster/or unable to keep underage content off their sites. Probably pressure from credit card companies threatening to pull out, and onlyfans wants to get ahead of the problem. The porn industry is pretty heavily monopsonized at this point, but I don't think their reach outside of it is that strong.

What I really like are the army aviation/ USAF AIRFORCE KodakKodachrome film with Jimmy Stewart. I believe he served in the airforce at one time. Great quality films,a snap shot of the USAF at that time..

Yeah, that's pretty much it.  Although I saw today they reversed it since there were able to get VISA/the banks to cooperate.

It's amazing and sobering that someone managed to catch a photo of that moment, from that angle.

That does seem to have happened. I stopped posting in here as it became a little more politics than general chitchat as it had been for years. I've been checking in on occasion, but little to chime in on.

Currently doing a master's in military history. Coursework includes watching Machinima from IL-2 Cliffs of Dover (As part of the Battle of Britain segment) and playing Combat Mission for the "war in Europe" segment, in addition to the more normal stuff of reading academic books and writing papers on them.

You forgot the videos you did at Forgotten Weapons. Good for you I love that channel. Great people there.

A Master's? That's great, good luck with it! I also stopped posting here because of the politics. A lot of chat moved to Discord, but I gave up on that for other reasons.

I am continuing to work away on my Archer book. I am hoping to have it done by the end of the year or (more probably) the first quarter of 2021. I've got most of my postwar chapter done but I have to circle back to finish some earlier ones. I managed to write more than I expected to about Archers in the 1956 Sinai conflict thanks to a US Army study which is available online and very detailed: "Key to the Sinai: The Battles of Abu Ageila in the 1956 and 1967 Arab-Israeli Wars". PDF: https://www.armyupress.army.mil/Portals/7/combat-studies-institute/csi-books/key-to-the-sinai.pdf
