I thought the skills refer more to the replacements of the weapon and mech modules. I think Mastering of mechs is a separate thing altogether or it should be at least... Unless of course things like speed tweak and quicker startup is one of the skills. Only managed to look through certain weapon skills.

On the bright side, this might actually bring TTK down a fair bit, especially with the Defensive skill tree (I predict the structure and armor quirks from that tree are going to be 'must have' for all builds).

Nerfing quirks was just totally unnecessary though, and is only going to make Top Tier mechs even better.

LRM 5 (IS and Clan)
Spread increased to 4.2 (from 3).
Range decreased to 900 (from 1000).

Oh god forbid that the other LRM launchers not be garbage, no lets just nerf the one usable LRM launcher instead.

Typical video game "balance".

"We don't like that people aren't using these other weapons, so instead of making these other weapons usable, we're going to piss on the weapon they are using."

Eugh, There's so much stuff to do, and I'm so tired.

The day just started, and I already want it to be over.

It looks like they're making fun of how big a deal Apple makes of their "Retina" display.

Article excerpt from elsewhere:

“iPhone 5 offers a new 4 inch retina display, which is the most advanced display in the industry,” said Tim Cook. “No one comes close to matching the quality of the Retina Display.”  He is, of course, obligated to both say and believe this despite the fact there are plenty of displays already available and forthcoming that surpass the iPhone 5’s Retina display.

Whelp, worked out MWO's new skill system:

Mechs that boat one or two similar weapon types and can limit themselves to a single weapon tree get to use take mobility skills to keep themselves at a similar level of mobility to the old skill system.

Mechs that require two weapon trees get a mobility nerf.

Mechs that require three weapon trees get ****ed with a cactus.

That is all the choice there is in this skill system, when one of the primary design goals is to "promote greater build diversity" and "empower players with the ability to customize there mech's performance characteristics".

I'm just aghast at how terrible this system is. It literally doesn't make any positive change to the game aside from an increase to mech hit points.

I dunno what they were thinking; the Devs of that game are absolute amateurs at game mechanic design.

Quirks were always a band aid fix because PGI refused to fix the problem of clan tech but removing quirks and just giving everyone the choice of what 10% range/cooldown/heat weapon/structure/armour they want is such a terrible idea.

The scotsman returns

Hmm... PGI should scale the requirements if that's the case. Mechs with more weapons need less EXP to unlock.

I caught myself scrolling to the US Heavy Tank sub forum to check The Thread. Guess I need to reprogram several years of reflexive habit. :)

-Intel's GPUs are all on their CPUs, and focused on low power usage. IIRC they did make one add-in board GPU years ago, but it was garbage and they haven't touched it since.

-Radeon/AMD have always had rumored/kinda-semi-confirmed higher color and image quality compared to NVidia. It might just be AMD having better color presets, but I saw a significant improvement for colors when I went from my Nvidia GTX 770 to a Radeon R9 390.

-Nvidia's cards have better tessellation, which I'm not sure how to explain besides it makes rendered stuff more complex. As an example, pre-patched Hairworks in The Witcher 3 were set to 64x tesselation. Nvidia's 900-series cards took a performance hit when it was enabled, but much less than other cards without the tessellation grunt.

-I'm not familiar with Apple's stuff, but I'm going with Killjoy's answer.

Would some of the issues with the Montana in WoWS (from what I've read) be solved if it got an upgrade for an 18" Mark A main battery? Granted the total barrel count would drop to around 8-10, but the increased penetration, overmatch abilities, damage, and shell weight would hopefully offset that.

That would probably make for a worse ship, especially if it didn't get the SHS. increased pen? with the 3300lb or 3850lb shell yes, probably not with the 2900lb shell. damage? would probably lose its dpm, which is the highest for BBs in game. The biggest loss, though, is that overmatch still wouldn't matter. The ratio is set up so that while Yamato enjoys lolpenning everything, a proper 18'' gun (457mm) won't overmatch the critical 32mm sheets of armor that tier 10s have.
