Ookla has told me in the past that my ISP is slower than 95% of the country

I was tempted to get this Casio just for aesthetics, love the dorky 70s/80s retro look:

"Bah, conversion is annoying. Rainmeter tells me my peak speed is 166 kb/s"

....................................................  I haven't seen transmission figures in that range since Hayes Modems days...  2400, 4800, 9600 .... 56K ... 192K  ...... that would be IIRC early mid  80's?

I'm assuming he' saying it's 166 kilobytes not kilobits which is a 1.8mb/s connection if you're going by the rate modems go by.

Remember that kerfuffle over Burger Thing advert that got a Google Home to pull up the Whopper wikipedia entry? It looks like it gave Google a hard shove to actually get their voice commanded device to start recognizing its owners' voices.

I keep mixing em up despite having a look at the stats several times in the past couple of years

My last post was at my college so I couldn't see it to check, but my Rainmeter skin specifically uses kB. Confusingly the Windows Task Manager uses Kb. The connection ceiling I was referencing is 166 Kilobytes per second, or roughly 1.32 Megabits per second by Ookla's Speedtest

Regardless, it's slow. And patching WoT and Windows is enough of a bother without tacking on AW

I read the preview for the next patch and the garage "redesign" looks awfully familiar.

I started the launcher before I left for work and it started pulling a 10.6 gig download. Granted, it has been a while since I last played that game, so I don't know if that is the balance 2.0 patch on its own or the balance 2.0 patch + other stuff I hadn't downloaded yet. I'm planning on giving it a test drive when I get home tonight, so we'll see.

My update is 10.29 gigs... so not a small update at all.

From the patch notes there is something like 26 new vehicles in the patch since balance 2.0 includes a complete rework of several tech trees. That could account for the size of the patch.

Few new maps for PvE and other stuff too.

Looking over the modules on the tanks some of the engines actually increase the top speed now. Imagine that, an engine with more horsepower and different gearing making something go faster. Crazy idea that is.

Yea, I wasnt expecting it to be tiny (also this is the HD client... so I imagine if I was running SD it wouldnt be so huge).

Please tell me that's a T-shirt I can get somewhere.

Surprisingly, yes. Although it has different text.

Here's the same art with 'FOR SCIENCE!' added, on another t-shirt site.

EDIT: here's the one without 'FOR SCIENCE!' on redbubble.

Modern WoTs progression reset was rather painless... (if not annoying have to unlock and equip multiple tanks again). But I now have all but 3 US MBTs (M1 Abrams, M1A2 SEP V3 and XM1A3)... and all but 3 West European MBTs (C1, Challenger 2 and Challenger 2 ADTU). And I have my Sheridan back too. Overall I think I have the same number of tanks as before, but was able to skip lines that didnt interest me last time...

Overall I give the new update 0/10. Still no Centurions. </s>. Nah.. I'll play a few PVE matches and see how tanks handle...

I do like the tank health changes and ammo changes they've done. The difference between health pools is basically non existent for the tiers each tank actually sees. HESH is actually useful now instead of a waste of ammo space. I used to just run full AP on my Chieftain and Challenger 1 but now I do an even split.

Since I'm stuck at home sitting on my [edited]for a few more weeks I'll at least stick it out for the 14 day event for the free gold and crates. Well see how it goes. I did the progression reset and am just going to grind out a few lower tier tanks through the event then decide what to spend my 3.6 mil global xp on.

Don't like the retrofit cost changes though. They're the same price for all tiers. Unless you can remove them and put them on other tanks I'm not going to be buying any for lower tier tanks.

I was able to remove retrofits from my tank to reorder them on that tank with no cost... I didnt try swapping between tanks... mostly because after the reset I had enough to equip the tanks I cared about (and one or two of my premiums).

I'll pop in and out over the next few days and try other stuff... but Im getting massive performance issues, like tanks popping into view and tanking my frame rates... so... thats not fun... and PVE seems like it'll be harder because the AI seems super aggro now...

I may make a serious try for the XM1A3 though... the 2 shot autoloader is super lulzy in the test drive...
