"Is this an M2 Light..? It looks kinda familiar...."

No, its an M3 . trailing idler hanging out the back is a dead giveaway.

^..Well, I have to agree with that part:

Spoiler

I have seen that play out here, as well.

Like I said, it's not a perfect system. And every dog out there {even a sane one} gets one bite. But at least we can do something about the obvious 'bad dogs'.

And regarding that highlighted part....

I have to respectfully disagree. What I think is happening here, and what we are missing in many of these cases is unchecked, and unnoticed mental illness. In other words, I sincerely believe that many of these shooters that carry out these crimes are actually mentally ill {and obviously not well in the head, or they wouldn't do them in the first place} ....it just hasn't ever been diagnosed, noticed, or officially 'cataloged'. Sadly, it goes unchecked...until it's too late.

*As I've mentioned before, if you see something, say something. That's the first step in prevention.

While I agree there's unchecked and unnoticed mental illness and this area can be improved, what folks need to realize is that people can have a psychotic breakdown even without mental illness.

Indeed, two of the main contributors to such incidents are simply stress and a lack of sleep - things that are not fixable by better diagnosis of mental illness; because you literally can't declare someone who hadn't slept for 24 hours due to work crunch as insane. That is the big problem with the Western World's understanding of mental health. Someone who has a psychotic breakdown often doesn't have a long-term mental illness and might just need more hours of sleep.

That people keep trying to pretend that psychotic incidents are rare and limited only to crazy people with mental illness is the problem. People end up doing stupid things all of the time because of causes beside mental illness. The point of gun control everywhere else in the world is to prevent people from turning these stupid mistakes into permanent and irreversible ones. That's the same reason why there are laws against people driving while sleepy, drunk, or texting for instance.

By contrast certain portions of America are seriously even allowing people who have drunk alchohol to carry guns; with the ridiculous result of people getting arrested for driving drunk but not for carrying a gun while drunk. That definitely has nothing to do with the Second Amendment or the Common Good, but it certainly speaks to how certain gun advocates and politicians are the ones with actual mental health issues - more specifically an addiction to the idea of guns rather than its harsh realities.

On that topic, I'm enjoying a bit of schadenfreude over Russia's miserable performance this Winter Olympics. So far, the 'Olympic Athletes from Russia' team has only scored 0 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze, putting them in 20th position on the board. In comparison, Norway is #1 with 11 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze.

At the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, Russia scored 13 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze, but has lost 2 gold and 2 silver due to cheating (to be honest, they deserve to lose all of them), which still puts it above Norway's score at that Olympics of 11 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze.

So yeaaaaaah, this shows that without cheating, Russia's athletes are terrible.

Well, at least with Viktor An, he's unlikely to have been duping, given that he was a great athlete before changing over to Russia.

This is probably stupid and obvious, but I didn't realize that the back bit of the Conqueror tank was a separately rotatable fire control turret before.  It was more than just a cupola.  I'm unclear still on whether the commander was actually walled off from the gunner and loader or not.

Nick goes into the commander's position in the first part.

So does everyone here remember our *cough* "friend" with the morally bankrupt blog that likes to plagarize and generally be a scummy person? You know the guy... that blog is now banned from the WoT subreddit... cant ever be posted there. Its probably the single best thing Ive read all day... (especially with all the new riff-raff who got dragged in here by a person posting a link to this thread elsewhere).

Now... "the framers couldn't have foreseen semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines"... that would seem to imply that the right of free speech shouldn't protect speech over any medium that did not exist in the late 1700s.  Telegraph, radio, television, the internet, etc, should be no more or no less protected than lever-action, bolt-action, and semi-automatic weapons, if we're to be consistent on that standard.

Multi-shot small arms did exist in the era, they weren't particularly pretty, but they did exist

Dai, I had forgotten that the Chieftain has already covered thr Conqueror! I will have to watch all the parts!

Random observation: apparently the APDS pen of the Conqueror at 1000 yards was over 400mm of armour.  They actually nerfed that when WG put it in the game!

edit: on the other hand - probably a detail in the Chieftain's videos - the Conqueror had no fire stabilization so the barrel would be uncontrollable by the gunner (and sort of bounced around) until the vehicle had come to a stop for several seconds.  The in-game Conqueror's movement bloom isn't that bad. :D

Someone (and I have about one guess) reported it, and it likely got nailed as "naming and shaming" under a very "open" reading of that rule.

You can tell it's a drive-by because none of the posts that quoted it have been edited or nailed.

Seems like it. Then apologized. Then deleted the apology. And everyone in the reddit thread pointed out what a scum the whats-his-face is and people asked why TAP hadnt been banned from the subreddit... and apparantly this was the final straw.

I have a 30% off coupon for the premium shop... except I cant use it for boats... only tanks... so meh for that.

So, you remember that picture of KanColle's USS Intrepid last night?  Apparently some babies don't like her design.  To put it bluntly, they hate it.  In fact, they hate it so much that they managed to report spam the KanColle twitter account until it was suspended by Twitter.  All because she wasn't drawn by the artist they wanted her to be drawn by.  Just a friendly reminder that babies are a force to be reckoned with on the Internet.

Well, the real story was that someone had been making coordinated attacks on KC AND DMM for over a week, meaning the timing was just coincidental.
