There was a lot of coverage of the Foundation during the election, on subjects such as "self giving", and then it largely went quiet after Orange Tuesday.

Good to see that someone's been on the trail of this since then.

Without doing much research and just by applying a little critical thinking and common sense on my part, in my considered opinion the "Trump Family" business dealings will not withstand detailed legal scrutiny.  "Follow the Rules" doesn't seem to be "their style" unless those rules benefit them directly. Especially if Cohen flips.

New York State Attorney General's office to sue the Trump Foundation and its five directors, Donald Trump Sr., Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. The lawsuit alleges decades of illegal conduct in violation of state and federal law, including illegally using the foundation's resources in support of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Chieftain, I don't know if you have Minsk's ear, but the Firefly model has a stowage box at the rear of the turret instead of the armoured box for the radio.

The Trump "Foundation" in particular is, by all appearances, just a slush fund for the family and not in any way anything resembling a charitable organization. Money goes in, and it all ends up in the Trump clan's pockets, whether being paid out to them because they're the directors, being funneled through the Trump Organization as the Trump Foundation exclusively hosts fundraisers and events at Trump properties and exclusively purchases services from Trump owned-companies (With all services apparently being paid for in full, at Donald Trump Sr.'s insistence), or just blatantly dipped into at will, as was the case with that now-infamous portrait of his.

As for the Trump Organization itself, it's pretty apparent that the whole thing, but particularly the real estate arm, is one giant money laundering scheme for foreign criminal organizations, including the Russian mafia, South and Central American drug cartels, Central Asian strongmen, shady Chinese tycoons, ect, ect.

It's not so much a case of finding evidence of criminality, it's a case of deciding what you actually want to pursue. I'm kind of left wondering how this all managed to avoid significant scrutiny and why it was allowed to go on for decades.

I'm not going to make any assumptions about any other part of the "Trump Family Business" in regards to legality, but the case against the Foundation seems to be pretty clear. My guess is that it went on for as long as it did because it was all done relatively quietly. Once Trump became "candidate Trump" it immediately shined a spotlight onto everything he touched and that is when things that were done "in the shadows", or "on the margins", or any other term you want to use to describe doing something "questionable" in a quiet and unnoticed fashion started getting noticed because people started actively paying attention.

According to the news piece the investigation by the NYS AG's office ran for 27 months. That would mean it started in February to March of 2016. That would pretty much fit my description of events. When he became "candidate Trump" people, and various authorities, started paying attention and noticing things. He didn't become "President Trump" until January of 2017 by which time the investigation had already been running for 9-10 months.

Same smell. While he's an occasionally obnoxious media personality, nobody cares.

Imagine if someone had cared, and had pushed hard on this front, in the years prior to 2015.

It was thought that he might just break the Republican party with his racism, sexism, and general dishonesty. Unfortunately, it turns out that people really are racist, sexist, homophobic, and generally s*****, and a visible public figure who aligns with their views empowers them come out of the woodwork.

Some of them.

And some of them are too chicken(crap) to risk alienating the most toxic elements of the "base" by standing up to the Orange Don, and some of them are so desperately opportunistic that they'll ignore all that stuff if it helps them get their own agenda advanced.

E:  none of these are admirable, desirable, or even IMO tolerable traits in "leadership", but it is what's going on, and dispassionate understanding where the cracks in the "coalition" are is key to removing the Orange Don from his position or at least containing him.

There's plenty of that, but I think tolerance of that is the greater part.

Ahh, sorry, I forgot about that!! Sorry! :)

Maybe I (and the other person who mentioned it) are wrong.  Would have to look more closely at photos to check if this is a radio box or not.  Screenshot from SahmLockhart's preview video:

Compared to the tech tree Firefly that looks more like a stowage box than the housing for the radio.

All society does is force humanity to repress their self-destructive impulses.  When someone is allowed to act out those anti-social impulses, it encourages others to show their true face to the world.  Society only works when the nail that stick out is hammered down quickly and ruthlessly.

I am downloading the Kindle app onto my Macbook to take a look at the Osprey Firefly book to see if it has any good pictures.

Also, I am more than slightly tipsy.  Hope everyone is having a good Thursday!

Whelp, WoWP 2.0.5 patch is out... and it is best described as a crap grind on top of a crap grind sandwich.

WG calls it 'Progression 2.0', but it really needs to be renamed 'Grind 2.0', because it is just grind on top of grind.

Like, firstly to unlock all equipment slots, players need to grind through a mission/task/stupidity to unlock 'specialist status'. And it has to be done for each and every plane that wants all equipment slots.

And the missions are absurdly grindy, taking something around 20+ battles to do, assuming everything goes right.

Then for the crap grind sandwich: the equipment itself needs to be upgraded via grinding. And due to RNG rolls for the bonuses and additional bonus types, that grind is increased to a ludicrous level.

Even premium planes need to do the specialist grind, it is just freaking absurd.

Don't forget that you need elite status to even start the grind.  It's nested grinding.  You grind to grind to grind more.  The bigger issue is how it destroys balance due to the RNG upgrades and, additionally, if you are a specialist plane, it apparently calls you out to enemy players on the scorecard, because why not.

I'll load up boh models in Blender and see what it actually looks like it is on the Firefly VC... I get the feeling they went for what looked cooler rather than what was "correct" in this case.

Thanks Avalon.  Nothing much useful in the Firefly book.  I would look through the IWM online image collection but I'm on a train and the available bandwidth is not very good.
