So everyone knows that the Type 5 Heavy and the Type 4 Heavy are both receiving a large caliber gun with HE based mechanics. HE guns are generally easier to use than AP/APCR guns due to the fact that you don't really need to aim on the enemy tanks, and any angling of armor doesn't really matter, as you will still do significant damage. Also, its premium rounds offer a clear advantage to the standard rounds, with actual increased damage, yet no increase in penetration (such as on the FV4005). This is a clearly pay-to-win mechanic. 9.17.1 shows an increase of tanks and mechanics that decrease the aspect of skill in the game, and an increase of RNG and less punishment for poor play. And frankly, this worries me for the future of WoT e-sports, and the game as a whole.

this game has long gone the way of catering to the lowest denominator.  the worst this game has to offer gets the most protection.  they can't keep veteran players so they tilt the game to the crappers.  more and more with every patch

I actually have to disagree with this, simply because they actually haven't really introduced any downright overpowered tanks that cater to those who are bad or less skillful at the game. The last real big mechanics change they actually made for this, was the accuracy nerfs in the mid 8. patches. This is actually another reason why unicums were angry at the sandbox changes (as they were essentially a -25% accuracy change).

Yeah the one thing to did enjoy about the high tiers is that the bull crap derp guns fall way out of favor, you can actually get some decent fights going.

Never got the whole "pay to win" argument concerning ammo when you can use credits you make in game.......

Yeah, some people have difficulty adjusting to minor differences in patches, so they may bugger off somewhere else because their rating goes down with a little extra competition...... let me be the first to hold the door...... other's just simply vent and complain on the forums, which is good entertainment, but overall no one really gives a [edited]e.

do you really want to pay an extra 5k credits to play competitively in a tank that already won't make money (as it is tier 10)?

Really when many players regularly play lower tiers for credits to fund the tier X financial needs...nothing is changing except two Japanese tanks that frankly almost no one played because the were horrible at dealing damage...OH MY GOD THE SKY IS FALLING. You want something to scream about you had better hope the Sand Box test NEVER EVER makes it live...it was horrible I hated every minute of playing on it except arty.

My main argument is that HE based guns reduce skill cap in the game, and therefore effectively neutralize player skill in some situations.

Not really at all. Yea its true that anyone can do damage with HE, but only good players can make a HE tank effective, know how to do a hulldown, use gun depression, shoot in the right place. etc.
So yea anyone can use HE

Not anyone can really master it

True at all tiers [Large HE spamming guns 75mm at tier 1-3, 105mm /122mm tier 4-7, 152mm /150mm tier 8-10].  Derps really should only be on artillery.
