pretty sure everyone picks basically the same perks and skills...

not like theres much use in variety.  just like how tank equipment rarely changes(gun rammer....vertical stablizer.....why use anything else.     6th sense, smooth ride, snap shot, repair, camo....why use anything else over these?)

Pretty much this. The order you research the skill might change depending on the tank class, but by the time the crew is at 4 skills they typically all have the same setup.

Yeah I follow pretty much the same pattern as everyone here, but I do often train my commander with Mentor to speed up the advancement process for the crew (drop it at 98% or so for SS)

I'm starting to appreciate the value of Brothers in Arms. That plus vents gives my JagdPanzer IV a 110% crew. Makes a difference for both view range and gunner accuracy. Helps in other ways too but IMO view range and gunner accuracy are the most noticeable benefits.

My only comment is that we should be able to buy the full set of perks. WG is in business to sell, why not sell perks ?

You can "buy" perks in a way.  Pay to Play, convert all XP to Free and then Free XP the skills up.  I do that a little when trying to just finish the last 5% and I can't stand it any more.

Is that a dedicated Church crew or from another tank enjoying the premium benefits?

Bad idea.

Just think, a reroll will open a new account, blast to a tier they want and max out the crew....you want to talk about clubbing?

on a gaming perspective a good should be balanced by some bad except when it's an elegant way for wot to make a little cash

Deadeye is most useful for fast firing tanks. It adds about one additional critical per 30 shots.

Snap Shot works in non-turreted tanks.

Mentor is a choice: do you want better skills in the next battle or a useful skill in this one?

I have 1 crew per nation/tank class and they drive all tanks in that line weather or not they have a specialization in any one tank.

yeah they get penalized but to me it's not worth it to have a dedicated crew per tank.

This 6.65 skill crew (as of right now) is trained in the KV-1S. I am also training a T-34 / Rudy crew with the Churchill III.

Notice the loader in the photo is a bit behind all the others. That's because he is the 3rd loader I have trained. The other 2 are at 6 skills and are in the barracks awaiting use in the T-34 / Rudy once I have 5 extras.

I'm not a very good player (notice I only have 2 MOE on the barrel), so I need every advantage a good crew can give me.

You know that if you put a medium crew in a heavy tank you are not getting the full benefit of the xp boost and your crew will only perform at 75%.

Also how much did you spend to get the crew that far with only 1200 battles?

or, wargaming could / should be able to gather statistics of most commonly crew skills/perks from their own data, they could even analyze it based on player win rate/personal rating.

you know, like vbaddict already does?

e.g.  if you look up one of my most played tanks, the bulldog, over at vbaddict:

this of course before they kill the joy of the tank and remove the auto loader, and nerf it into oblivion and uselessness in some future patch with a ~4.3 second reload and 150 alpha gun expecting it to only be used for intel in tiny, craptastical funnel maps...

a LOT of my decisions on keeper tanks, crew allocations and even reward camo were based on tanks I considered fun, and/or "end tier" keeper status, including the tier 8 LTs - many of which got all lady crews from the personal missions, as well as digicamo reward camo...  whenever the LT lines are expanded I suspect many of those tanks will be sold, and/or their crews tossed into the barracks, and wondering if I will continue to download game updates and continue playing.

the notion that tier 10 light tanks will be used to "scout" in this current craptastical map meta, and rotation is laughably hilarious given that people won't scout when they're in a lowly tier 5/6/7 with cheap repair costs...  put some pleb into a tier 10 scout with the exponentially higher repair costs and even chai will be embarrassed by how frequent the statement of "chai sniper" is used...

You misunderstand... I am training extra crewmembers using the church, WHEN they are ready, I will retrain them to the T-34 and use them freely in the Rudy.

There is the caveat of needing 5 crewmembers to do both of those 4-crew tanks due to one having a gunner and the other a radio operator, but... oh well.

If you are asking what I spent on converting xp or "buying" crew skill with gold... that would be zero. I have used some gold for training/retraining of course, but not a large amount. I never play without 3 PRs running and I play strictly solo in pubs (except for an occasional tier 5 tourney).

Well, Loaders only have 7 skills, so I should get that done by 2k battles (probably far less), then the other 4 will get his share of the xp he will no longer take, helping them by 20%.

Gunner and Radio Operator have max 8 skills and once I am into training that 8th skill I will consider the crew finished for all practical purposes.

The 9th and last skill for the Commander and Driver plus the 8th and last skill for the Gunner and Radioman are largely superfluous.

Awesome, good on ya.  It's surprising how many people never crack the code on using premiums to train up crews for other tanks.

Hello Tankers!

We would like to know how you all set up your crew in your tanks? Everyone is different in the way they pick crews and perks. What ones are the best for you, and in what tank/type of tank?

Please check out this article to see some tips, and some crew setups from our staff

Let us know yours in this thread!

Along the lines of your series of articles on how to get the most out of your crew, how many people actually use premiums to train crews for other tanks?

So when a loader(for example) maxes out all 7 skills, what happens to the xp that he earns?  Does it just accumulate with the hope that someday he'll get moved to a tank where the loader has dual roles and can add more skills/perks?

GhostPrime:

Should the forum have a "Crew Management" section?

WoT is a crew management game disguised as a tank game.  I certainly made a lot of crew management errors, and probably still do.  I think the need is there.

On point to the direct post, I believe Garbad had a nice set of crew skill recommendations online
