Ryzen seems the best match right now.

If you're waiting then additional options are forthcoming.  e.g. Ryzen with four or six cores will likely be  faster (i.e. better for gaming).  And APU combo of Ryzen processors and Polaris/Vega graphics.

If you have the time this video seems a fairly balanced overview of the processor.

Lastly the original post seems to lazily lifted from an untranslated-photoshop-joke by a French magazine.   Never mind the troll-like thread title.

Heh I was literally about to hit reply with that same vid. The ryzen isn't 'bad' for gaming per say but the price point makes it uneconomical when far cheaper intel offerings cover every range of price and performance. But if you find yourself saddling up to the computer for a long session of autocad or sony vegas and gaming is secondary then it makes far better sense.

For video encoding & rendering, I doubt he'll do better than a Ryzen.

Those cheap LGA 2011 Xeons that are all over eBay for almost chicken feed are hard to pass up.

Hell for $350 you can pick up an i7 2600 refurb and get within a few percent of a current i7 for encoding type stuff. This would also make a great budget gamer with a 1050 ti or 1060.

Have fun trying to get a reasonably priced X79 mobo that isn't an unbranded Chinese board; prices shot up once people realized how good a deal it was, like with X58.

I've had my 2600k for 6 years now, but I'm not quite ready yet to make the jump to a newer platform. Maybe in a couple years.

I can never bring myself to buy a CPU, MB's or GPU's off of eBay.

How did none of you catch that OP is literally a photo edit rofl

I have used that motherboard and there are preset OC profiles, and the guy who made the photo, just edited one line of the BIOS to say Performance Bias not Performance Profile lol

Heh you do realize that there is no effective difference between labeling it bias or profile as they do the same thing: Adjust the settings to give a boost to that given program's performance.

All
That
Setting
Is
Is one that you MANUALLY SET AND THEN MANUALLY SAVE. They photoshopped the text to make it look like *oooh AMD has these presets*
When in reality, you will never see a motherboard with those built in. Ever.
The person who posted them, is stooping to a level I've never seen a "tech" site do and faking bios shots to make "news".

Its not a photo edit.  If you have the Asus Ryzen AM4 board with the pre release BIOS/UEFI it shows up as an option and its been confirmed by multiple hardware review web sites.  Stop being an AMD fanboy and get a grip on reality or at least post on your main account.
