I think I found a solution. I edited the poll and added your idea.
"Sweep the leg Johnnie!"
After all the warnings about not rushing to tier X too quickly, I pretty much played up a couple lines to their logical conclusions and am now doing my best WR's in my tier X's.
More than any other tier (other than tier I), the skill gulf is noticeable in tier X where you may get dropped in amongst gold leaguer's, but learning in that environment then going back to lower tiers is when you realize what you've learned.
That said, tier X currently does not pay out well in order to force people to continue to play lower tiers. Which kind of tells us that most people who get to Tier X, like to play there. I am looking forward to the changes coming with tier X giving you more to do with your hard earned dreadnaughts than look at them.
Still - favourite is tier X. Tier IX is like tier X lite and pretty much equally fun in the lines I've played.
Worst was tier III. I went from feeling like a master of strategy flying through proving ground, tier I and II and then ran into a brick wall in my first game of III on V. One is not simply eased into the reality of WoT.

I disagree. Given the amount of Derp guns on teir 5 tanks, the fragile nature of most tier 3s, plus the plethora of stat paddlers hanging out in teir 5 with 4 perk T67 crews, 3 is the worst tier on earth.
