My panzer has the 5cm gun with a few apcr rounds in case I run across thick armored tanks like the matilda but when I try to shoot even at the sides and rear both the hull and turret of the tank some of my rounds if not all of them cant pen it. Is the panzer's gun too small to make any difference? Or is it something else like firing at the tank like on a hilly slope whether I'm on the slope or the matilda is would it reduce my chances of dealing damage?

Try using Tanks.gg to analyze where you're hitting the Matilda

Get in close and find the flattest area you can, it should pen as long as you are not shooting the tracks which have spaced armor on top of them. It is best to avoid any head on fights with Matilda in the little panzer.

The biggest problem with the low caliber guns is the loss of pen over distance seems to be greater than any other caliber, 57mm and under get shafted.
