I came to a realization just now, and thought it would be a good idea to share this perspective. We all know that Tanks can be a frustrating game to play. RNG seems to screw us all, and bless so few. Matchmaking puts us all in situations that we can contribute so little, unless you are 1-2, or 9-10. "Unicorns" turn games into nothing but a stomping ground, and over and over you see players who throw money at the game so they can spam gold to get better stats. There are a lot of other scenarios that occur in this game that seem to make it less fun to play. In a game where just grinding it out seems to only make players worse because some don't feel like they have to win, they just have to click battle, shoot something, die, and move on to the next battle. I am not saying that this is the goal of the system, I am just saying that it happens, because I have been there.
I came to World of Tanks because it is a game that rewards patience, temperament, knowledge, and teamwork. Yesterday I was working on my Jadgtiger to get the top gun on it. This is my first tier 9 tank, and I have very little experience with the Jtiger. I was told repeatedly by "teal" players to go back to tier 3, uninstall, and even was TKed by a teal because of my positioning. Ultimately in this game, its not the mechanics that irritate me. It is great players that complain that I am in their team, just because my WN8 is below 1500, and I dont know how to play all of my tanks like they do. This mindset is poisonous to the game. It is a game based on skill, minus 25% RNG, but good players seem to just dump on all of the noobs. I did meet a player from WONKA, who originally was pissed at my because I shot gold at him in his Skorpion G. I explained to him that I forgot to switch back my ammo types after fighting a heavy. I apologized, he apologized, and we platooned around for awhile. He is quite honestly, the only teal, that I have had a positive experience with.
My point to make after all of this is that WoT is a game. Games are made for the players' entertainment. So why should we even bother getting mad at the game, or other peoples' lack of skill. It is a waste of energy. A suggestion: when you next go onto WoT, find a noob, platoon with them, and help them to get better. To think if we all did this with just one noob, the population of competent players would shift probably 10-15%. That means less noobs on your team, more wins, faster progress. It is a win-win. Feel free to point out where I am wrong, and I would be glad to discuss. These ponderings are something I live for.
