Someone should check the garage of all the players who say the Defender is not OP for Defenders.

OK, then he states 'truths' about everything, ignore him.

lmboso basically you say its op.

In a way yes and in another no but when your pen is so borderline that your chances to pen the lower plate drop like Lehman Brothers stock because of a slight angle good luck, as for lower tiers they are basically just straight up fodder. Basically the same situation that tier 8s have been living with vs tier 10s but now a new tank on the block with similar armor. The better 8s with standard pen in the 220s and gold pen in the 240s or better can still cut through it though they will have to actually aim in the process.

Judging from the preliminary stats of the Defender, it is indeed OP. There...I said it.

The thing about the defender/252u is the geometry of the armor.  It fares very very well on level ground and sidescraping.  If you catch it on a hilly terrain the armor works much less.   Most average players dont take advantage of this and try to take it on in town in its element.  Most maps can not be won soley by the enemy defender, just kite them out of town, even on Seigfried.  On Hummelsdurp, if you cant stop them on bananna rd, it is up to the hill to be won and quickly.

As for the "pepperd with weakspots"  .....lol

As someone who owns it, it is not OP.

The defender, has one of, if not the biggest lower plate at tier 8, and if you can't go through that, the sides are pretty weak along with the cupolas if you're in a tall tank. The gun takes 10 years to aim and even then it probably won't hit what it's aiming at unless its the broadside of an O-Ho.

I have one, and I still prefer my IS-3 over the defender.

If you're taking on a defender in a T-34-3 from 200 meters you should go somewhere else... also there's this thing called HEAT.

The T-34-3 can easily pen the defender, just not from the front.

Literally anywhere else. And if you're going to say the T-34-3 can't outbrawl a defender, what heavy can it outbrawl? You're trying to get a terrible tank to beat a great tank. It doesn't have to be overpowered to outclass a tank, the T-34-3 just has to suck that much, and it does.

Sure I can do it in lower tiers but there is always one problem, the rest of the other team so flanking options even on the "open" maps is limited between terrain and there being chai snipers. Also a lot of people suck at aiming so they often dump their shots into the tracks or the spaced armor above the tracks. The snap shot players are basically useless against 252 Defenders.

Doesn't take much to pen the 100mm side armor but getting to it is the problem and the lower plate trolls meh to low pen guns. Shooting the turret does work but Russian Number Generator does happen and the commanders hatches are not exactly an easy target to hit even at brawling ranges unless the target is passive.

Most defenders I've faced have been in CW, so most of my experience with them is from the rear :)

I do own one (well, a 252), and I think it's a bit OP, but not ludicrously so.

People seem to have very little trouble blowing me up in mine, but I've got the WR in mine to a couple of points above my average in heavies generally now (it was bang-on identical until about a week ago), and it's something like my third highest average dpg AFV.

They aren't as game-breaking as the more hysterical elements on here would suggest, but (based on comparing my results in mine against my other heavies) they are either slightly OP, or possibly fairly easy to play. They are also rather map dependent: as very strong brawlers, with awful accuracy and view-range, they do much better in cities than on more open maps - on the latter, they tend to be toast.
