While most of the focus (and rightfully so) is on the upcoming artillery changes, matchmaker, and light tanks, it may have slipped your notice that WG is attempting another novel game mode; Frontlines. You can read the general idea of the mode on WG`s latest news post, but it seems pretty interesting:

30v30

9km^2 maps

5 man platoons

How do you guys think this is going to play out? It almost seems like a hybrid of Battlefields Rush mode and Conquest. I am personally excited and cannot wait to see how this game mode looks! My only question would be regarding potentially re spawning, credit costs, and credit/experience gains.

After reading the thread on the homepage, I'm thoroughly excited. I decided to apply to the sandbox specifically for it.

It has a ton of potential, just a few thoughts

- penetration loss over distance in AP will make HEAT a very important round.

- artillery fires could become almost realistic.

- Light tanks/scouts will have a lot more to do.

- Heavies might get their mojo back with longer engagement ranges helping negate gold spam.

Larger maps with, probably, more open fields.

Seems like matches will end really quickly as tanks getting spot in the open and focus fired, or get dragged out for extended periods of time as tanks try to find each other.

Looking forward to it.

I am excited about the idea, but this IS WoT

I am edgy about it being an attacker/defender instead of an open fight................... (The defender has certain advantages over the attacker)

It will kill the mode if they try the dumb re-spawn idea, again. (Basically everyone will be running around like nut balls because they will re-spawn when their tank is destroyed)

What I think would be a good idea for the 30v30 would be to have multiple cap circles, say three, between the two sides spawn areas. The first side to capture two of them wins.

I have to ask, and I ask everyone who makes this an issue, but why is it such a problem to spam gold? I mean anyone can buy it now, literally, anyone who saves credits can buy gold ammo and even noob who has very little disposable income like myself loads gold ammo to deal with overpowered tanks.

Su it may or may not, depending upon who you are as a person, be annoying to die too or be dealt a significant loss of hp from gold rounds. But so what?  I know you did not directly state this but it seems the mentality of this community nowadays is to petition to have something removed if it even slightly inconveniences their gameplay, rather than ask for it to be tweaked in some way.

As far as I am aware, this is not a new idea by any means. It has been tested in the past and has failed to grab enough attention from the community. Wargaming is likely bringing it back up to see if the newer crowd likes it any more than the first or second crowds did. s much as I like this idea, it will be bandwidth heavy and CPU heavy as there will be twice as much data or more to render. I really sincerely doubt this will make it out of testing, but that's my perspective on the community's outlook. I rarely find a thread for example that doesn't have at least a dozen people going into great detail why something is wrong or why something should no be added.

My thought of having 30v30s is now the massive damage potentials in 10's. I wanna see like a 15k-20k damage game, o wait! I'm gonna need more rounds  hint hint, WG might need to make changes to round capacity.

Second is the achievements, that's a lot to talk about :sceptic:

lastly would be Match Maker, point being fielding 60 tanks is quite difficult especially the NA server where at max I see 250 people at a time in the queue. I maybe wrong, well see

I applied :great:

Mad dog:

Yeah,  I was thinking along the lines of this will mean less complaining about gold rounds, and that would be good but It didn't read like that at all. With longer ranges, tanks should live long and prosper. . Even gold will lose pen, and targeting the famous weak spots will be much harder.

I can see the "lone-wolf" playstyle rising out of people who enthusiastically play tanks like the T110E5 and the E50M.

Another reciprocating idea that I'm really anticipating from Frontline is that there will be an insane amount of patience and steady play required to dig out the easy damage at first, while preserving your own HP. Lights will also have endless run-out space, and radio ranges will be pretty critical as well.

In the distant past WG had talked about the normal kill or cap mode we have now, expanded to 30 vs 30 on larger maps.. could be the start of something pretty fun, just hope the servers that struggle now can make this work good enough to see in a lot more game types with in the game at a later point.

Really excited about this new game mode, especially the new larger maps, but as someone pointed out the amount of rounds a tank holds atm might be a factor in this new mode.

Remember there is the "Repair and replenish ammunition areas" so I see this won't be a problem...

Really excited about that, just have to wait and see out how it plays out. Updating the client as we speak, will try it as soon as I can.

God I love the big map, the amount of times you can regenerate may be a little overboard, but Front Line gets a big A+++++++++++++++ from me.

This sounds wonderful until you take into consideration peoples low powered computers, ammo capacity, and potentially very long games.

the game is longer but doesn't feel longer because of the action... There's also a sense of emergency because there are no draws.. The big map with 9 section is like 9 new maps to explore and god knows we need more maps..

As for slow computers its 2017 .. time to upgrade from that 1997 233 hertz compaq...

I don't care for the frontline mode, I only downloaded/installed it cause I thought it was going to have tier 10 light tanks, I do want more and larger maps, why did WG remove all the asian maps, because their too many whiners that complain about the maps, now everyone complain about not having enough maps.

What are the requirements to become a sandbox tester? Is it even possible?
