Again, my point was never weather banning artillery was the right or wrong choice {personally, I don't care for arty, I dont want it in the game, but until its removal I'll continue to tolerate its existence, annoying as it might be to me} and the banning of arty from platoon just seems arbitrary and odd, though I think I see the reasoning in it (They want to stop 3 man arty platoons at top tier) but can't seem to figure out how to implement a "one tank limit" or something, my point is we should not have WG taking votes based on the amount people have spent on this game, think of the amount of voice that would lend to folks like me {And for the record, I have a set entertainment budget per month, and sometimes I dip into my credit for it which I'm trying to build up anyways, but otherwise I'm just a tank collector}; as far as their internal records, I already mentioned that.

Oh, and as  a side. I do play arty from time to time, I still stand by my stances on it; and the M44 SPG, which I am quite fond of loading heat and ruining SOMEONES day {mine or someone elses} only solidifies my views on arty on the whole. Will these stun changes be good or bad/ I can't say for certain until it goes live, I dread the idea of it, though I'm all for reduced damage, slightly increased fire rates and aim times, though personally I'd like to get rid of satellite view on arty, make them do some guess work, but eh. S'just what it is there. (Also, I have the Sexton 1. The LEFEH never seems to come on sale when I have time or money for it lol).

Cool...  It seems you agree then that the ban on single artys platooning is a strange and potentially harmful choice (I totally agree on banning 2- and 3-arty platoons).  WG is capable of making that sort of restriction on platooning, BTW, there is a precedent with carriers in platoons in World of Warships (only one allowed per division).  They can easily do it.   They are apparently choosing not to and unfortunately that will severely hamper the interest that my wife and I (among others) would otherwise show in this game.

Cheers,

Why can't your friend platoon with you in one of the other classes?

The main reason Mudman: why should I as an arty specialist continue to play a game (yes I have other tanks) that has just taken a huge crap on me as a WoT player.  I am 95% arty, I am a Commander of a clan and we are on the Global map.  I train other clan mates in arty.  We have a TS server.    Since I will no longer be allowed to platoon with any of my clan mates why should I stay since all the reasons I play, Command, and financially support are being !@#$ all over.  The key is this game is a social game.  That is being taken away from arty.  No other class, just arty.  I can't condone it and will not support it by being forced.

Wargaming... you suck and I truly hope your business model is ground into the dust!

I've spent in the realm of several thousand, and I only play a couple of games a month, infact I just bought the Mutant 6, the Lorrain 40T, and strv this past two weeks. That's, what, 200 USD roughly?  I may be more of the exception with money to burn and more or less being a collector, but my point is. For everyone one of you, theirs one of me, and if we've got people voting by their wallets, well, me vs you in this particular example, I regularly buy the new tanks that come out just to own them, I don't like the arty, you occasionally maybe buy something new, but like arty. From the prospect of the business, who looks like the more valuable customer to entertain and keep around? Theirs a couple of you, but as I said , for every one person that likes arty, theirs one that doesn't.

Do I want them to ban arty platooning with other players? Nah, I want it gone entirely, but well. We can't always get what we want, I don't play arty, none of my friends play arty, most of us don't like or want arty in the game, so this change doesn't really bother me or them, I'm afraid {and said other friends are just like me, spending a fair amount of income on this game.}

I have spent several thousand as well so we are on equal footing on that point.  Your dislike has no more financial bearing that mine.  I Command a clan, play on the global map (3 provinces currently) and have taken my clan from over 1000 ranking to 358.  I invested in a TS3 server for my clan.  I am probably one of the only female Commanders in WoT.  I started playing for most of the same reasons as Fafnir_6's wife.  My husband played and this allowed us to spend time having fun togeather.

I am 95% arty.  This will make me unable to platoon with my clan and my other friends.  This is a social game.  You mention you platoon with your friends.  I do as well.  Until WG (9.18) takes that away. This is just another way of pushing arty out the game.  Would you continue to support a game that nerfs 95% of your garage and takes away the ability to platoon with friends so all you could do is pub on your own?  I think not.

I mostly pub solo these days anyways, and its only really one friend I play with. Several of my favorites HAVE been nerfed into the ground {I'm looking at you, poor hellkitten, may your clipped claws be forever remembered}, so I guess the answer to your question? Yes, in small doses I would probably still play, as I currently do.

Well, good for you if you can keep playing.  I will go the way of hellkitten.  Poof!

I also really dislike this proposed change. What I have found in free to play games is that they live or die by their player base. You maintain a base by allowing people to play with their friends preventing them from doing so causes them to find other games. Based on the post by wargaming it seems they wish to prevent 3 man arty platoons specifically those made up of the lef at t5 the fv304 at t6 and the bat at t10. When we had similar problems with the kv(t5) the old 1s and even the hellcat we changed the individual tank not the mm. Why not nerf these 3 vehicles instead of throwing out the baby with the bathwater here. As others have suggested why not limit the platoon to 1 arty each.  Another suggestion might be to include the new stun mechanic or the improved splash but not both. Personally I don't play arty much I dabble in it enough to know where to hide and how to move to avoid being flattened by them, but they are a valuable tool to use when all of the big heavies go hull down and they can't be removed without significant loss of life.

I can't say that I'm a huge fan of this move by Wargaming. Sure if you need to change my class for balance purposes go for it the game should be fair. When I started years ago this game was based on 5 unique classes and we each worked for a common goal within our own play style. Its taken me 5 years and almost 14 thousand battles to finally get to my tier 10 artillery piece. After all that your going to tell me I can't use it to play with the friends that I have made over all this time. Do I have other tanks sure I can go get into my m103 or my Sherman but why would I want to for all I know your going to take those from me next the new light tank changes are a great example.

Good Lord... Read the whole posts.  I have all tanks classes and play my heavies and Med's in Detach's and Clan Wars.

You won't be able to platoon SPGs together. You can still platoon and SPG with any other tank.

I beg to differ with you sir you cannot platoon with 1 or 2 regular tanks and an arty in the same platoon. before you speak please know the facts

Agree with the original post. I have a friend who has multiple high tier tanks that he likes to play in platoons with me but now that my artillery is "unsuitable" we can no longer play the tanks we want at the tier we want or I get to be that guy who brings a tier 7 to a tier 8-10 battle. I could live with the gimping of damage and the stun mechanic that last longer than it should. I can live with the castrated light tanks that are slow meek carbon copies of each other now for the sake of lazy balancing though I would prefer you allow for full refunds of tanks you've utterly ruined like the VK28 and SP1C. Taking away my ability to play with friends because its "unsuitable" is just a fat middle finger to the players.

Yeah, I had the same concern with only one arty per platoon policy that was implemented recently.

With the arty nerf, they are supposed to be more along the lines of support vehicles, rather than damage dealers.

So basically if there were three arty in a game, which I do see often, each one can support 4 other team members that are not arty.

1:4 ratio of arty to tank seems like a win-win situation.

What I can understand is maybe a 2-3 player arty platoon has to wait a little longer for a match, which is reasonable.

Out of my whole time playing wot, I do not remember being in a 3-player arty platoon, nor did I see 3-player arty platoons either as they were a rare sight.

Being a rare sight, I'd say out of the 12.4k battles I've played, 30 of them had 3-player arty platoons.

So was my service record tarnished because of these 3-player arty platoons?

I say with 100% certainty they did not tarnish my record.

The compromise of this situation would be a maximum of two arty per platoon policy.

**After this line is my 2 cents, you can stop reading here if you'd like**

This game used to be about having fun, about dealing with certain situations, like when the KV-1S used to be the king of tier 6 back in the day, when the PZ-IV had the schmaulturm turret at tier 5, when the T-28 had the F-30 at tier 4 and was a beast of tank before two of these were decided to become "premiums."

And boy did it feel like an achievement when you beat the OP tanks, you showed who was boss in your M5 Stuart.

I understand Wargaming needs to make money, and I agree with that and do not have anything against their decisions regarding how they make money, as far the ones that are known to the public.

My point is, wot is starting to become linear and tasteless as in every single aspect of the game has to be supposedly "balanced."

No longer do I feel any achievement for beating any other tank in this game, as it all seems to be linear.

You know the sort of "achievement" I'm talking about, for example you beat a really tough boss in a game like "Dark Souls," or any other games that were a challenge to complete.

Reality is far from being "balanced," so when you actually achieve something in reality it feels great, as it was a challenge to achieve something.

As in a doctor gets paid way more in an unbalanced capitalist society, when compared to a balanced, linear, communist society where a doctor gets paid the same amount as a guy who cleans the streets.

In the cases of a "balanced" communist society, there's really no incentive for becoming a doctor as far as wages go.

With the introduction of the new idea of "balance is king," incentive has gone down to play certain tanks.

Another classic example was the beast of a little tank ELC AMX when it had 180 pen and could toy with tier 8's.

When incentive goes down, so does the amount of entertainment.

Gaming is an entertainment industry, so a new idea of "entertainment is king" should be introduced into the world of tanks.
