well it looks like the whiners got their way. i didnt like getting hit for 800 a hit myself but it was far better than this crap..arty has been totally butchered doing 400 damage a shot every 50 seconds at tier 10 what good are they ? i dont like this change it was far better before anyone with sense can see the benefit of what it was like before now tanks just storm through laughing at teh minimal hits arty does. arty is no longer a fear in this game why not just take them out altogether? theres no point having them now like this. these changes make me want to play my arty even less than before. i played a tank yesterday and got arty bombed by the batchat and got hit probably 8-10 times from him and still didnt die...they've also made it so cookie cutter that you dont even need to hit the target just hit near the target and its a hit...this game is going in the wrong direction.

Why not just learn to adjust? Too many people crying about things when it doesn't go their way. Well guess what? LIFE AIN'T FAIR.

Please make up your mind forum.

 

Isn't the fact that the "Arty is OP" posts are balanced by the "they castrated arty" posts some indication that maybe WG got this right as far as aiming for the middle?

I think it's better, more fun to play. You have to watch what your team is doing much more closely. Defending yourself from a tank is basically impossible now, you can't run and you can't shotgun them. Wish there was a solution but I have no suggestions.

I didn't really mind Arty before but it is now irritating with the changes from 9.18.

and you will never make people understand this.  It would ruin their grade school attacks and they can't have that.

I would disagree.  The ones who were calling for arty change called it a failed, broken game mechanic that didn't do what WG intended.  Then you had others translate that as "OP"...

I didn't worry about arty so much before. It was what it was. But not it is a PITA. I've been one-shot destroyed more then ever. Arty is too accurate now. And if they miss I get stunned anyway. Also, what the heck. The majority of the games I've been in since the update have had three arty per side. Maybe arty should be limited to two per side per battle. That's my suggestion.

For my two cents worth, the changes to arty are a small improvement. Before, if you found a camper, you needed to be very close to get any effect with the larger guns, and with ones like the SU-26 you had to have a direct center mass hit to do anything. Now with the 122mm guns and above, the camper hiding in the back letting his team take the hits while he takes the points is more vulnerable.

 

The changes will in the long run encourage more aggressive deep spotting by the scouts as they get rewards for damage done, and less sniper camping by the medium / heavy tanks. ATGs will need to be more careful in their positioning and camouflage.

 

I would like to see the stun effect extended to all arty guns, with the thought being that even a hand grenade that lands on a tank does do some stun type damage. It rings inside the tank and distracts the crew for a few seconds. On low armor tanks, hand grenades have on rare occasion caused actual injuries.

 

The only other comment is that they should have placed a bonus for point blank fire for the arty round, giving a SPG a small chance at local self defense. With the latest changes, when the line breaks you may as well drive your arty off the cliff.

I like the new arty a lot more but that's more likely because XVM is not available on NA for now :)

Not true ...  a few mod'ers have already updated their modpacks for 9.18.  Aslains had his modpack out on the 19th and the xvm was working.
