There have been a few polls on the changes for 9.18, but most seem to be bias.  Wanted to create an unbias poll to see what players think.  

 

EDIT:

 

SUMMARY

 

After 150 votes (not a representation of all players, but provides a good cross sectional)

 

MM - Very well liked.  Over 60% Thumbs Up.  Over 88% Like or are OK/undecided.

LIGHT TANKS - Most players Like, or are OK/undecided (over 63%).  While it appears the changes are positive, about 25% of players that do not like the changes and about 10% think it is a game killer.

ARTY - Most players Like, or are OK/undecided (about 63%).  Again, the changes seem to be positive, but a lot of players dislike the changes.

OVERALL -  Pretty overwhelmingly Liked or are OK (over 75%)

 

I'll try to keep up with the summary, but no promises.

voted.  but wanted to be more specific

 

MM: overall improved.  but not perfect. its flaw is that a tier x light can be equal to a tier x heavy.   so while the structure is improved,  the logic needs a bit of tweaking.

 

Scouts: depends on tier mostly.   tier 7-9 are great.

 

  tier 10 takes some getting used to (as people keep tryign to play lights as meds.   if you play it like a light though, they are insanely good.)

from armored/camo'd   active scouts (T100Lt and WZ.   shorter view range but good camo and have armor)

to long range passive scouts (Sheridan and german with their 420 view range.  its nice to have light tanks specialized to their intended scouting style, passive vs active)

-french sucks.  no denying it.  its trying to do the role batchat has, while not taking batchat's role.  which screws it over.    should have jsut made the batchat the tier 10 light.  as theres no way to make a french light when batchat already does its role so well.

 

tier 6 are good.  but generic and all play the same.   they lack the originality they used to have with 105 derp, 85 pen autoloader, or MT-25's autocannon of doom.

 

tier 5.  balanced for their tier.  even ELC AMX(using the 75mm).     but are all crap cause T67 avoided the balance team.  and so is better in all ways.

 

 

Arty: big improvement.  its nice to not be slaughtered.   and its role has really helped in competitive without being overkill(like it was before.  anyone remember 2016 WGL Finals?  how the tier 8 arty slaughtered tier 10s and repeatedly came in first or 2nd in dmg.....).          its less frustrating to play (easier to hit with)  and is a good support tool.     though it can get annoyign at times when you dont have a place to hide.  or theres multiple aiming at you.

prem arty screwed WG over here.   lef 105.

 

 

 

 

overall. an improvement.  but WG needs to do the following

1. fix MM logic to balance tank types at top tier with team, shouldn't have 2 tier 10 heavies vs 2 tier 10 lights.   thats not even fair.

 

2. nerf T67.   the alternative, buffing tier 5 ligths to have better moblity and camo would cause issues as tier 3 and 4s see them.

 

3.  batchat.  make it a light.  burn and refund the amx 105.

 

4.  more maps,  and fix current maps.  REMOVE the corridor/tunnels that force lights into corridor shoot outs on so many maps.      lights have advantages, but they can't use them on many of these maps. and so end up beign seen as weak mediums.

 

5. make arty hits not stack.

My opinion;

MM = Improvement over previous MM

Light Tanks = liking the 2 tier spread not happy about mediums having better view range

Arty = I can live with the reduced damage and stun but not allowing platooning is a deal breaker for me

Overall = The patch has been an improvement in some areas but its been a disaster in other areas I guess I,am OK with it but time will tell if I remain that way

Too many changes at once in my opinion.

 

Lights: They should have just bump all tier 5-8 lights one tier, without any changes to them (not even HP changes). Fill the tier 5 and 10 with new tanks.

 

SPG: why did the low tier got the pen nerf since they don't get the stun effect? No nerf for LeFH18B2 which is now OP as hell (already was).

 

MM: love it! Lots of single or two tier battle which are great.

My main issues with 9.18:

 

First, arty is more accurate, has a lower aim time, and has a bigger splash radius.  Also Arty now can do damage through walls and buildings.  That's 100% broken and even a worse game mechanics than before.  Now arty is more liely to hit your tank and arty gets rewarded for missing your tank by 10-15 meters.

 

Arty can do damage and stun through walls!

 

 

Second, I don't see the point of playing most tier 10 light tanks when the BC-25t and Leopard 1 are better tier 10 scouts in most situations and are better overall tier 10 tanks.  Also the tier 10 light tanks lower ammo capacity and worse accuracy makes it more difficult to help win a game when you get penalized so much for missing a few fully aimed shots.

 

Third, the new matchmaker is completely broken and ruins tier 8 play.  There is no point to playing tier 8 any more.  There is no point to buying tier 8 premium tanks when you are only top tier 15%(or less) of the time and have to fire more premium ammo because almost half your tier 8 battles are tier 10 battles.

 

My patch 9.17.1 non pref matchmaking tier 8 tank battles:

Tier 8 tanks went form being top tier 30-40% of the time to being top tier less than 15% of the time.

The only tier 8 (now 9) I really played was the 13 90 which has now a stupid 4 shell clip for a 40 seconds reload. Where's the improvement?

well i did say french flat out suck this patch =/

 

outside of the french. the rest of the tier 8(now tier 9) lights are improved with their new guns.

Mine has a 22 sec reload so you justso can't read

You guys should probably take a closer look at the new 13 90. It got a long list of buffs.

The improvement to the MM was the most important change. It is so much better it overshadows all other changes.

 

But.

 

The changes to lights have been frustrating. My AMX 12T is better in most respects, but the AMX Elc Bis is a shadow of its former self. It's just not fun to play anymore. It can still be effective, but with the poor acceleration and maneuverability, it's just boring. In general, a lot of lights seem to have gotten nerfs that make them less fun to play, like the Bulldog for example.

 

Arty isn't hitting as hard, but the faster firing rate and the wider shell splash have possibly made arty even more annoying for slow tanks. Being pinned like a bug while arty smashes you over the head is not that fun. On the other hand, mediums that can dodge and weave seem to be doing better. Lights and some TDs can still be one shot, and can still be severely damaged by the wider shell splash, so all in all I think it's a wash.

 

Overall I think the patch was generally good mainly because of the much-needed change to MM, and hopefully there will be some buff for the lights that got ruined in this patch. 

 

Particularly the ELC, which was not OP, but was a lot of fun. Bring back the speed, and all the other nerfs to that tank would be just fine. It's irritating to see a T67 racing ahead of you every game, when it also has a better gun, and similar or better camo.

I wish MM change would happen while arty and lights were only up to tier VIII. It's not uncommon to see a AMX-13-90, RU261, M53/55 matches against 2 E75's and a Skoda - on a city map. It would be so much better to only have regular tanks as IX and X.

 

I don't really care for the changes with lights - mostly due to MM and higher repair costs. I still do ok in my RU, started playing T49 and 132 again, and have no issues selling most of the rest (I have all top tier lights).

Nice poll, and WG recommends these sort of posts to make changes is what they replied to me in a ticket.

 

So instead of sending in a ticket when your really mad with changes, make multiple suggestion posts.

Nice poll. Didn't care for damage reduction, view reduction, removal of AP or removal of platoons for the Spg's.
