WG has rules pertaining to offensive/racist/etc. player names.  And I've seen plenty of "RenamedUser#####" accounts in-game exposing those players who've run afoul of said rules.

What about team names used in tournaments?  Can a team be disqualified for an improper name?  I ask because upon examining the roster of teams for the group I'm in for tonight's (4-27-2017) Tier III 1v1 tournament I noticed that one team has a quite offensive & racist name.  I'd love to see that team get a DQ for such behavior and am considering filing a dispute to bring it to the tournament director's (dance's ?) attention.

Any thoughts from the collective on the matter?

Best regards,

Old Man Zhymm

Hi!

Usually if it is a first time offender I will give them a "free" name. If it's super bad or if they continue, then I will take actions to prevent them from joining tournaments in the future / DQ the team for that tournament.

Unfortunately, with the 1v1 tournaments it's super easy for me to miss a name when going through so many teams. Feel free to shoot me a PM or send an email to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com and I'll take care of it!

Apologies for missing it the first time I checked :(

Eh... The term "offensive" and "racist" can be subjective. One can be offended by this word or that word but to others, the same word is not offensive.

True, but there are also names that are against the rules. When those names slip past me, it's always good to have players message me directly so I can take care of them :)

As racist and offensive is subjective, what prevents abuse by teams to report other teams in hopes gaining their disqualification?

Common sense from the moderators perhaps?

If the name does not break the rules then it shouldn't be an issue.

It is subjective and we have all seen some of the "common sense" of mods over the years.

You cannot really discipline someone for using a clan name that someone finds offensive simply because they are close-minded. If it does not break the Game Rules, then no punishment can be dealt.

Use common sense making your name... don't push the envelope like a 7th grader... problem solved.

Baloney!

"Wisdom and goodness to the vile seem vile / Filths savour but themselves." W.S.

As with WoTs blind eye policy to such key offensive matters, trickles down simply to mean a place where you would not be able to trust anyone.

Iconic symbolism is worth a thousand evil words and is generally here in Forum with much negative riff throughout WoT. Thus, countless tickets whether to WoT upstairs on such sly trickery, quickly reverts back the downstairs’ to you and your cohorts where nothing is replied/noted to, and much less acted on.

This concern on what goes into making responsible moral decisions, and what prevents WoT from making an ethical decision on their part.

The evil eye against all of us still pervades WoT, as a/the lax policy of a counter culture where anything goes, and is quite disgusting whenever encountered!
