I have a quick question, I haven't played much WoT and was wondering what heavy line would be the best to pursue? I have heard great things about the Russian and American heavy lines but I want specifics and details about which is better. Thanks!

I'd go Russian heavy , at tier 5 you get 2 different tanks , which is a good place to learn tactics, how to use armor, and begin learning weak spots. Kv-1 slower with armor for angling, 3 different gun choices to try(can make you play the tank differently   for each gun) and the Kv-1s , lighter armor , but better mobility and a decent gun.  Lots of vids out there to help you learn too.

For the first time around with a heavy line there is nothing better than Russian heavies while the worst choices that you can make as a new player is going with the French and British lines. The American heavy line is ranges from very good to fair depending on the tank but overall this line should only be played when you have gotten some experience to help you along with way skill wise.

Been through both lines to tier X.

Russian at low tiers is fun with their derp guns, especially the KV-2.  Higher tiers are a grind because you need alot more XP to move up than the American line.  Good Armor, Good Gun Damage, but lacking in mobility.

American tanks at low tier are a horrible grind until you get to the T-29 with the top gun.  Then they get better and are more fun to play.   Just remember that they DO NOT have something called ARMOR.  Gun is acurate, and has good penetration but is lacking in DPM.

If you are new, I would go Russian because it is more forgiving (The IS 3), but personally, I like the American line better.

Russian line definitely. I used the KV-1 as a credit maker when I was new, it really lets you practice things like angling and side-scrapping.

The Russian line is more forgiving and great to learn with.

The american line has great turrets and gun depression , weak hull, but require a skill cap of good map awareness and situational movements on the map.

The Soviet heavy line is more fun overall, it really doesn't have any dud tanks in it (although I hated using the IS, and I heard that the KV-3 is a bit difficult to use).

The American heavy line really starts shining at tier 7. At Tier 10, you get the amazing T110E5, considered by many to be one of the best, if not the overall best Tier 10 heavy in the game.

Russians 1st then go US Heavies. Us Heavies aren't really heavies until upper teirs. They are more a Heavy/Medium hybrid.

It depends they play differently. The Russian heavies are more "idiot proof" while the U.S. ones are harder to use because they require a higher skill cap. This doesn't mean that U.S. heavies are inferior, they are equal and in some cases better than Russian heavies you just need to know more tactics and strategies with the Americans because they aren't as forgiving. With Russians, some of them has pre-angled armor so you don't even have to worry about something as simple as angling. With the Americans, angling is a must and you also need to know hull down tactics. Despite this, I'd say on average the American heavies are armed better than their Russian counterparts.

Compared to the German heavy grind the Russian up to IS-3 was way more fun and faster. I love my Tiger II and E-75 but my IS-3 is a joy to fight in on any map at any tier. My American tanks are all premium and used for credit farming, which is very effective for quicker crew training and faster module upgrading. Super Pershing, T34, Thunderbolt. These tanks are tough, accurate,  and fun to play along with great credit earners. Plus when I decide to go the American line I have 3 fully trained (now at 4th skill/perk) to work with. Good luck, clan up, have fun.

Pretty much this. And don't let anybody tell you that the mid-tier US heavies are bad tanks, because they aren't. T1 and M6 are both fine machines, though as somebody else pointed out, they're more medium/heavy hybrids than 'proper' heavy tanks. From tier 7 and up, the US heavies are hulldown monsters, but as such they require a bit of knowledge of where and how to position to get the most out of them. Not quite the best choice for inexperienced players, though the tanks are quite strong when handled properly.

Overall, the Russian line is probably better for newbies. They're fairly straightforward to play and be reasonably effective in, with solid guns and either great armor or a combination of decent armor and decent mobility. The IS line, which is generally a more mobile 'heavium' line similar to the US mid-tier heavies in some ways, is one of the easiest grinds in the game, with no bad tanks at all, even if the tier 10 is a bit lackluster at the moment. IS-7 is, however, slated to get some buffs in the near future.

You'll want them both but go Russian first. Good luck.

Russian is easier better for beginners but the Americans some what suck until the t29 then it gets fun (as long as you know how to go hull down) but Russians are pretty good especially the kv 1 and is3

It would appear that WG prefers the Russian tanks anyway.  I would just go Russian.
