New game maps and game play

Spent a bit of time today trying out the maps. All kinds of things come to mind.

1) Having to use gold to get Premium rounds with no ability to purchase with silver. Also must spend gold for large repair kits and other perks. 

2) Tier 10 tanks with "green" crews? 

3) Maps seem very small for 60 tanks.

4) No respawn. Makes games go much faster, but if you get down 3-5 tanks it is near impossible to rebound and win.

5) Maps: Coast =  Mountains to high and take up way too much of the map, and they are not useable. The map seems way too small for so many tanks.

               Valley = not much cover, mountains again way too high and map too small for so many tanks. 

                Both = Artillery "stun" different than in WOT, completely immobilizing tanks. In some matches way too many for a fair fight. 

    

Graphics are looking great as usual!! Game play is much faster than the previous "Frontline" map.  I must get in a good deal more games on these maps to figure out the best strat for my game play. Mostly Arty, Heavy and TD.

For number 4, this is something that will always be ever present without respawns. And I can't fathom a good way to solve it as numbers is a enormous advantage.

Just why do people want pay to win mechanics..? i.e #1 jeez..

#2 you have a 100 mil free xp you can have as many skills as you want on your crews.

I like it a lot without the respawns; however, if they put back in the heals maybe?  Been playing as medium tanks and scouts, really enjoying it, I think more trees, high grass, idk some sort of soft cover would be a bit better. As a former tanker, has  more of a real feel to it, well done and thanks!

Free xp does not work on crew xp. you can not get more skills using it. the crew actually has to build up their xp to move to another skill.

Yeah heals would be nice.I am usually running TD's or Arty. Some Heavies.

Some people like the edge it gives to have the Premium rounds. Also the large repair kits and other "gold" or "premium" gear gives them an edge. Why do people buy a membership for a "free" game? Same reason.

Hey Pongo, I went back and looked and there IS a button to use the free xp!! Had not seen anything like that on WOT. I will have to check it out on tanks. Thanx

Um, yes it does.  Open the Personnel Record of the crewman, select the skill, hit INCREASE, pay the Free XP to up it to 100%, rinse and repeat for the next skill, etc...

I picked my favorite 7 tanks and put 6-7 skills on everyone.  Best crews I've ever played with.

I thought the map size for 60 tanks was more than adequate.  It's no different than Mines or Himmelsdorf with 30 tanks.  It felt very roomy, just a bit barren in the raw state.  Needs a LOT more detail and soft/hard cover.  On Valley there are huge open fields that have no cover as far as the render range goes.

 

I did not enjoy the canyon map.  It felt like the ultimate in corridor meta, with little interesting scenery.  I'm sure I could get used to it once I'm a bit more familiar with the layout, but it felt forced.  As primarily a TD player, there were no decent long range positions I could easily find, and little cover to stay unspotted once I fired.

 

Heal/Resupply points would be nice.  Especially since with double the number of enemies, I found ammo to be very low very fast.  I all but ran out more than a couple times.  This is especially true in the autoloaders.  Either that or up the ammo loadouts on all vehicles by about 30%

 

Overall, I LOVED the mode.  Way more fun than the Frontlines.  I like the structure of Tier 8/10 Clan Wars and Pub matches and once these maps (and hopefully a couple more) are fully fleshed out, I can play them a lot more.  All-in-all, I found this test mode to be a real winner!

 

As far as the gold ammo ting and crew xp misunderstanding, it's a test server.  The economy of ammo purchases wasn't what they were testing, it was game play based on map size, terrain type, and game mode.
