Previously, I purchased an inscription and then replaced it with a custom inscription.  I would like to do it again, but cannot find the inscription files.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  They used to be .dds files, but have searched and dont find them.

May I ask how you originally created the custom inscription and replaced the purchased one?

Thanks!

just name the custom inscription the exact name of the purchased one.............

example: lets say your purchased inscription reads as  LOVEGUN  , but you want it to say  LOVEMUSCLE ,  open and edit    so   LOVEMUSCLE  replaces LOVEGUN ,   but make sure your save the file as the Original Name LOVEGUN .

Exactly where are these located in the WoT client?

Both are correct.

The custom inscription is very small, so limited details.  As for making it, I just used Photoshop.  I used a font that resembled a paint brush and had the words "Free Candy", which I then weathered and with a clear background.  Then, I purchased an inscription, replaced the file with my custom one.  boom - Pz4H rolling around with "Free Candy" painted on the side of the turret.  Made me laugh every time I drove that thing.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the the new location for the inscription files.

I believe they are in World of Tanks/res/packages/gui.pkg:\maps\vehicles\decals\

Somewhere in the maps folder. (Bitmaps, not game maps.)

Extrack with winrar or 7zip.

They are probably in .png format not .dds

In some cases you can simply rename the extension of a .png to .dds and it should still work.

And .png files are easier to edit and save.

Create a mod in res_mods/0.9.18 that mirrors the file structure in the res.pkg

Then just put them in there.

DO NOT MODIFY THE GUI.PKG!!!

That is exactly where they are.  No wonder I could not find them they are zipped until loaded by the client..  They are still in .dds format, but that is not a big deal.

I will dig up the steps to creating a custom inscription and post up here.
