I <bad word> hate the 122-54. The grind is worth than on stock TVP VTU. Is 263 worth it?

Are any casemate TDs worth the grind for any reason other than to do it?

I loved the -54 because of the mobility and that gun is sweet.

But the rest...like no armor and lack of gun depression......uggghhhhh.

The 263.....well it used to be awesome. Can be fun.....but but....I don't know man. It doesn't call for me like in the past.

I was pointing out that "worth it" is subjective. Personally, I think the only reason to grind any casemate TDs is to accomplish the goal of completing the line. There really isn't a reason to own one more than that. They are rarely used in team battle modes (CW/SH) and for pubs there are more fun tanks to play.

I know what you mean. I loved playing with it but then people made videos about it and it got popular. Back before when it was known to be a really scary tank and people had no idea to shoot it in the lower plate. Lots of times people would shoot the mantlet or shoot the viewports which which are the strongest parts of the tank. It still does good work but you can't go balls to the wall nearly as easily now. Only twards the end of the match.

ever since they made it into HD tank .. the armor got better... gun mantlet smaller and harder to pen ... it is worth the grind

IMHO 263s are easier to kill since they went HD version so I would say no it isnt worth the grind.

Seriously? They made lower plate bigger and weaker, HD update pretty much killed 263

FWIW, I like my -54, but it took a while.  It's pretty mobile, has good pen, and good camo factors, so I try to snipe and then move to support a flank from the back.  It has the 2nd lowest armor in tier 9 (100), so it won't stand up to a lot of abuse; I don't have a great winrate in it (or much else, for that matter).

I have only played the 162 a handful of times, but it felt good and was pretty effective.  I don't know if it was because of being able to bully the tier 9s, but it has 250 armor, so it is much tougher--also more pen and damage.  It is still pretty mobile, so it's more enjoyable overall.

In general, tier 9 TDs have 200+ armor (the T95 has 305--as in: did you hear something outside?).  At tier X, 250 is at the upper end of the range (Grille only has 30, but is almost invisible) while the pen and alpha are more than functional.

I like TDs (one of many quirks).  The Ferdinand, JadgTiger, and Object 704 are my favs because they can take a beating (trans: I'm tragically average (or lower) and need the margin of error) but also have wrath-of-god canons.  I've just started working on the T28, Obj 163 and 168, Foch, and UDES 03.  I like them all, but I find the UDES it very "situational"--see note above re: average.  For me, it is somewhat quirky and awkward, but I think it great potential (ultimate sniper).

I tried the Brits but couldn't get past the AT2, which I liked.  Waaaaay too slow.

Hope that helps.

edit: 263, not 162/163; and 268.   Typing too fast, kinda like my driving.

I have 9 Tier 10s and the only one I consider to be OP is the OBJ263. I absolutely loved every tank in the line and it took about a week and a half to grind from the tier 6 to tier 10. The frontal armor is insane, the gun is insane, and the tank is so rare that only the people who have been playing for over 5 years actually know its weak points.

I think the important thing to ask is how you are playing it. If you are playing the tank as a last line sniper similar to the ISU-152 line, then yeah it is going to suck. The 122-54 has excellent frontal armor and very good speed/maneuverability. The tank should be played as a second line support vehicle and opportunistic flanker. It can also run up quickly to the front line to cut off enemies from advancing or to shut down a choke point when necessary.

I'm with you.  I can't win in the thing.  Gun trolls me constantly.  Feel like it actually rotates too fast.
