Dear Commanders,

We have further reviewed the incident of last Friday involving SirFoch and his “Chrysler K GF rant” video, and know we could have handled the situation a lot better. We strongly support our players’, including our Community Contributors’, right to speak critically about us and our games. We acted too quickly and over the line when we threatened to have YouTube remove SirFoch’s video through a copyright infringement complaint and we are apologizing for that.

We’re committed to doing a better job on this front. We’re going to improve the way we communicate with our Community and our Community Contributors, and as part of that effort we will work with them on more detailed, specific guidelines to help ensure incidents like this don’t happen again.

Our official position is that Wargaming will not take copyright action against opinions based on our publicly released content.

Over the weekend we released a statement to some media outlets regarding the content of SirFoch’s video that inferred that SirFoch’s videos contained hate speech and homophobia. While we would obviously not want such content to be associated with any of our games – this video clearly did not. We apologize for this statement, and we don't stand behind those claims.

We love our players and our contributors – and we appreciate their honesty and commitment – we are committed to using this incident to grow and improve.

I think most of this has arisen from a few WG employees just completely overstepping their bounds and doing something that a majority of WG employees are pretty lackluster at -- and that is dealing with the community, honestly.. and WG is so disjointed that like many people have said 'The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing' is true. Like how many times on the NA server have we gotten panned responses from WGNA because it is kind of obvious that they are not getting the information they need from the rest of WG? So I am personally not at all excited about this knee-jerk damage control - certainly Foch deserves to lose CC status and probably never get it back and this whole situation is probably a little overblown if you believe that WG would have never issued a strike, but the fact remains that WG needs to internally get its crap together and improve interior communication.

So was the Na office staff member that posted that statement fired??????

Seeing that it was a EU staff member that did this and it was all on the EU side of the house I'm pretty sure no one over in NA lost a job. That being said   This right here is why stuff gets out of hand. People make commits about something that they kinda heard / read then they go and make a post and other take them for their word and it blows up even more.

Foot in mouth.

it wasn't all on EU's side.

watch jingle's 2nd video

WG NA had someone put out a statement about "Hate speech and homophobia"  that broke apart what EU said(and has me wondering what video NA watched...cause it clearly wasn't foch's).   hence this statement in this thread to apologize.

EU started the first, and tried to put it out

but NA tossed gas on it

I will believe it when I see it done through action and not ham fisted attempts at damage control.

I also appreciate the public apology.  This was pretty disturbing behaviour from a company with enough experience to know better.

Good on WG.

As mentioned in other threads this has actually produced more attention and benefit for Foch than harm and probably helped sell more Chryslers.

and to be honest the Chrysler GF is not the big deal everyone was claiming it would be.

I really hope that person either gets a rebuking or is fired.:sceptic: because of their stupidity, they've caused a lot of damage as well as sown the seeds of mistrust between WG and its customers/players who make WG related videos.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be some minimum standard when making videos. To me obsessive cursing just shows how unintelligent a person is and most people prefer more "family friendly" videos anyways, with little to no cursing at all.

But censoring just because someone "hurts your feelings" when its a critic? that's pure ignorance. We want the game to improve and have it stay around for a long while. and if WG censors people for pointing out faults, well then the game isn't going to last long because no-one wants to play broken games!

anyways, I've said what I wanted, GL all!:hiding:

not much else they can do after so forcefully stepping on their own genitalia.  it doesn't really fix anything, but they had to do it and did.

Good sentiment, well stated.

For those pointing out the left and right hand syndrome. I Deal with far larger companies, and some smaller, and this is not uncommon, especially for companies with multiple sites across continents. It is called "Siloing" and affects many businesses. Not unique or all that surprising of WG.

Regardless, a bit messy on the initial actions, but coming together solid a bit later, and backing up words with actions is a good start.

Disappointed that WG felt they needed to make a statement, but good PR I guess.

I considered SirFrosch to be 'fake news', and right up there with #FroschLivesMatter .

YMMV
