It's called "Beta Tester" budd. Sorry, not everyone have the Lowe and the gold to free EXP us through tanks. Free EXP to tier 10 doesn't make you more pro than someone who grind to tier 9.

Bzzzt!  Wrong Again!  Keep at it and you might win a prize!

I did not buy the Lowe until the recent fire sale, as I pointed out.  I usually grind the experience for the tank and use free experience for the upgrades.  And I didn't even used to bother doing that but playing stock tanks just became too painful as the tier level went up.

Tom

Edited:  I now use Free experience as much as possible to avoid dogs in any new trees.

If you want to see a good example of tier skipping, go look at your own stats.   :Smile_harp:

Tom
Yes, you did not skip any tanks. You obviously unlocked IS-3 with 0 game on the IS and unlocked IS-4 with just 28 games on the IS-3. My bad, what was I thinking? Other paying players who plays only fully upgraded tanks have stats that blow yours out of water. Once again, get better then come back to trash talk others.

I really like the IS7, it seems that a lot of times, when angled correctly, it can bounce just as many shells as the Maus... The only thing about it, is that artillery tends to pick you as primary target over everything else, sometimes you gonna find yourself being 2-3 shotted by arty. Overall I see it being very versatile compared to other tier10 heavies. Just like with any tanks you have to learn how to use your advantages and make up for shortcomings, not all tanks play the same and you have to learn how to play each one.

Um, you have only 105 battles in the IS-7.  And I toss the BS flag on the "I always get 2 to 3 kills" statement.  You have 1870 total games played and only 1106 kills.  Way less than one a battle.  I very much doubt you suddenly became SuperTanker when you got your IS-7 and played that 105 games.

I wonder if you even read what he said.

Did you catch that? wait hold on let me zoom in more, I'm not sure you noticed....

Did you catch that? Clan Wars, just clan wars. For all we know he has only driven in a handful of clan wars. So tell me how could you glean anything contradictory to his statement from his public stats? Do you understand the difference between cumulative stats and just stats from just clan wars? We don't have access to just someone's clan war's performance so how can you judge that statement in any direction? Jesus, there is so much wrong with your post it makes my brain hurt.

You have to play the Is7 like a heavy medium.

I'm having a tough time figuring out what equipment to put on the IS-7...I have gun rammer and vent, but I can't decide if I should get spall liner or stabilizer for the third slot.

I've only had a few battles in my new beast and I like it. It's better than I expected, seems to suit my playstyle. The speed and agility often comes in handy, letting you choose advantageous positions over your slower opponents and escape when you're at a disadvantage. I wouldn't really call it a medium but it does have some of their characteristics and I can see why people might get frustrated trying to use it as a 'standard' heavy.

Recently also got a VK4502A (the new one) and it's similar in usage. Good fun!

I would have to call bull on the 1v1 parts, I've fought many fights with other Teir10s in single combat and come out on top alot. But, in my opinion, this tank is an oversized IS-3 with great upgrades. As usual for my advice with the IS series (except the beast that is the IS-4) play it how you would an T-54 or some other medium just well, oversized. Just make sure you have more mobility cause that's what's mostly keeping you alive in a fight. Hope this info helps those newer IS-7 players

after 700 games in my IS'7 , here is what i say...........

IS'7 is better then IS'4 in many ways .....even if you face an IS'4 face to face 80% time  IS'7 will win the Duel ofcourse considering you know where to shoot your opponent. IS'7 has a great shoot , amazing penetration rate even tough the aimming is not so great but once you learn how to angle your IS7 you will start bounsing way more shoots and cornering your opponents .

Also note if you play your IS'7 on SandRiver or EL-Haluf or any other map that doesent have roads the IS'7 mobility can no longer be used effctivly BUT if you play on Himmelsdorf and let's say you want to climb that Hill where the Castle is , Mediums will not get much edge on you  as you go up and as you start rolling down most likey u will pass the mediums.

Fighting a T30: you must recognize the fire power of the T30 but also don't forget about it's weak Hull armor that IS'7 has no problem penetrating , also Angle your tank twords your opponent all the time and T-30 will have a hard time penetrating , thats ofcourse if u cant find cover.

Fighitng a MAUS :,fighting a MAUS is hard in every Tank but IS'7 can sure put up a good fight against that monster , Mauses hate when IS'7 get near them because their cannon can only go so low and so slow  , meaning if u get close enough to a MAUS with yuur IS'7 the MAUSE can only hit your turret which is very hard to penetrate and has his sides exposed .....

Fighting a E100 : IS'7 can sure put up a good fight but try not to get to near him and start shooting at them from fair distance(200m) giving your self the advantage flanking the E100 if that can be done ,also  if possible dont show them that PIKE of yours they hit just as hard as the T30 and are hard to kill like a MAUS , if you get near to E100 (70m and less)  ,IS'7 losses the advantage and gets pounded but if you manage to keep your distance against the E100 most likley he will back off after getting hit a couple of times.

IS'7 has many strong points but using it like a big Medium , hmmmm no  ,just because Mediums are there to scout and avoid arty fire while the IS'7 is big and can't avoid Arty's , also IS'7 can't dive into enemy line and go hunt the arty as he will be destroyed with no time, as soon as his sides are exposed.

but rushing a Flank with 3-4 IS'7 can sure surpeise TD's and MAUSES .

IS'7 is the element of suprise and power .

If you entend to take a huge Beatings and Push the enemy , the IS'7 is not for you even tough with proper support IS'7 can also push simply providing fire Power to your allied tanks.

But if you are looking for overall a good tank that can hold it's ground and be more manuvrable vs other tier10's , going quickly for cap , quickly flanking , supporting your flanks if they are in toruble , then this may be the Tank for you.

Sorry for my english

Got back the IS-7 on the test server to get a more general feel. And holy f**k, my love for the tank is unyielding, despite some bad games in it. I always thought that the IS-7 wasn't fast enough to justify replacing the gun-laying drive with a vertical stab., but the VS is working out pretty well as I actually do hit above +45 kmph quite often. The armor right now is working out to be pretty decent for me, considering that the test server would have people throwing around gold rounds more often than on the US regular server. Don't have trouble engaging any Tier 9+ tank except for ironically, another IS-7 or the Maus. I've only fought other IS-7s effectively by facehugging them and shooting downwards into their pike. I guess the Maus problem could be alleviated by throwing gold rounds, but E-100s aren't too much of a problem for me, especially if I can catch them around a corner. Nothing better than tracking and damaging a like the Maus or E-100 around a corner, with their turret layout effectively stopping them from returning fire.

Some intresting info about IS-7 - 12 month of discussions and whining - and Storm finaly has confirmed fixes in 7.0. for IS-7 armour.  http://forum.worldof.../page__st__1440
post №1443.

-Turret frontal armour will be 240 (210 now)
-gun mantle will be made using "skirt" type of armour, 350mm
-increasing armor at frontal part of comander cupola
-3 armour groups for turret sides - 210 at lower part and up to 100 at upper part of turret side armor
-"seam" * will have it's own armour group with 240mm armor
- driver hatch will be 40mm
- deleting indestructible "falseboard" from side armour, 100 mm after tracks (same as now) 100 mm in "falseboard" (more then 150 now), upper part of sides will be untouched - 150 at 45 degr as now.
- replasing some of internal modules (fuel tanks and ammo rack).
So wee will have better frontal armour, but less side armor. New colision model of IS-7 will be much closer to real IS-7.
Thanks to Temnov, Luceferi, Zefirot and others.

these changes will give the IS-7 owners a feel that they are driving a heavy not a medium.
