well i dont own a IS7 yet, but i have fought plenty of teir 10 tanks most of witch are IS7's, while it is a very fast and mobile tank with a hell of a gun, i find it slightly underwellming if i can manuver around it with some support and its on it own, sadly its side and rear armor make it a lovely target for arty (iv killed quite a few with my hummel) and can even kill them useing a teir 6 and 7 medium tank with a teir 7 85mm gun and cause significant damage while shooting it on the lower side of the hull and rear, though in its defence the IS7 is a beast in its own right and its cannon is definatly worthy of fear and respect

I only have a handful of battles in the IS-7 so far, but it hardly feels like and upgrade over the IS-4.  I find the IS-4 to be the better of the 2 tanks.

You are probably having the same issue i had originally, and that is trying to play it exactly like you did your IS-4. It is on the opposite end of the spectrum from the IS-4. IS-4 is slow, has good gun depression, and armored from all sides. IS-7 is fast, mediocre-poor gun depression, and armored only from the front. You cannot just sit in the open absorbing shots anymore, your armor isn't meant for that. Play your IS-7 kind of like a medium and take routes you would often take in your medium tank... this will increase your success some as an IS-7 will beat any T9 medium in a slugfest barring exceptionally bad circumstances. Use it as a flanker more than a frontline tank. Finally, keep note that unless a Maus or E-100 is nearby, you are artillery's number one target. Hopefully you know how to minimize your chances of getting hit by now.

Good luck and have fun, IS-7 is a neat little toy.

Good advice KarateF22  :Smile_honoring: .

The sooner Wargaming finish the tank trees the better, because the IS-7 is a big IS-3 and the IS-4 is more like the KV-3.

Having the two separate heavy lines would keep the play styles aligned rather than relearning each time you go up a tier.

The IS-7 should get a much better penetration rate with its gun since its damage is so low and has bad armor. The only saving grace is speed but its acceleration is slow which makes it a null point 80% of the time. It needs to be able to penetrate an E-100 100% of the time from the front. whatsup!

For a tier 10, this tank is kinda garbage.

Pro's:
Fast Downhill.
Scout OMG factor.  Fact is well driven tier 9 mediums are far more dangerous, but it looks good on the queue page.

Con's:
Huge.
Good tier 9 gun.
Good tier 8ish armor. Armor is the tier 10 version of an IS-3.  The slope consistently works great for tier 6 and below guns, sometimes tier 7.
Tier 10 should be spearhead.  This doesn't do anything particularly well.
Great tank, when it's rolling with 3 or 4 more.  (what isn't?)
Turns on a dollar and a half.

Just my opinion, but most well driven tier 9's will kill it easy enough, one on one.

People cry about the T30, but it has a big gun and is as fast as an IS-7.  At least it has a big gun.  It hurts people well.  IS-7 is an IS-4 for the masses.

just wait i heard IS-7 is getting a major armor buff in 7.0 and will probably get a gun buff in later patches. it will be balanced with E-100.

Its actually both a buff and a nerf... IS-7 wont bounce ANYTHING from the sides after that patch. Now it actually can.

I hope they consider changing the current humungous size of the IS-7 back down to the original (real) size if they're going to destroy any ability to bounce shots from its sides.

Having a lower glacis that's the same as the E-75 should be penalty enough to be honest (Its same effective thickness at the moment, while still being inferior since you cant turn the tank for increased thickness without making the upper glacis a joke)

I am a medium tank driver. I decided to go down the path of the IS-7 for this reason. I must say the track traverse is just as slow as the IS-4. The IS-7 only goes faster in a straight line. I have only played a few games so far, but i have realized that arty finds you as a high priority. Also i have lost to every tier 10 i have gone head to head with. I think this tank has been hyped up by the players. I hope over time my opinion will change, seeing how much time was put into getting the IS-7.

Is-7 need a little rework, better frontal armour would be great, the slope some times suck, a tiger could penetrate the upper hull, lower hull and turret in head on, that was LOL, e-75 and e100 are better but this tank need some love.

Here I have a photo with all of stupid shoots from tier 8 and tier 9, no one bounce in my tank...

If you look closer, you will see, that 3 rounds hited you "SEAM" bugged weakspot. This place have ~180 mm effective armour.
Another AP penetrated you optics -> Damage to tank HP.
1 shell hited turret, but i think that was HE[maybe] - HE that damaged tank and AP, that penned armour have same "sticker".
After 0.7. we will have little better frontal armour, but less protected sides. I hope, that stupid "seam" penetration will be over.

translation: is7 is a very good tank. Duelling t30 or Mouse you can win if you play skillfully, is7's thin armor is angled so much that it makes miracles. Speed and agility of this tank make it a decisive argument in any fight with any tank.
If you will put enough time into it, you will love this tank since it can punish enemies very effectively.

first: Dude, english? Use google translate for pete's sake at least.
second: 'Miracles' you say? Ok, given a choice, in your skillfully played IS7, which tier 10 would you rather face? Wouldn't thabt be another is7? ;)
