this. I still remember the game when I got my first sixth sense. It happened right in the middle of a battle. Felt rewarding. And no I did not "suffer" playing without it. It is a reward that needs to be earned not given. If it is given for free it has no value.
I never understood this mentality. The point of entry at this stage of the game is far different than when you or I started playing. In order for the current newbs to hit the ground running they are going to need more than what we started with. Hardy anyone back then had multi-skilled crews, and there were a lot fewer veterans who knew the ins and outs of maps and tanks.
At some point you have to look outside yourself and see what will keep new players around, and keep the game afloat. IMO anything that will make new players more competent and less of a liability to their team is a good thing. It's not like you won't be able to handle them if they got 6th sense for free.
It's such a tiny thing to give, and that attittude only makes you look like a grumpy, old, jaded curmudgeon "Why do these kids need computers at school? We had to use slide rulers... and if we didn't like it we got smacked on the knuckles.. <grumble>"
