Friends, as I can add boxes, bags, spares and other objects to the hull of a tank, especially to the Sherman, thankful for the help

There are mod skins that add more detail or at least there used to be.

It's definitely possible to add those things.

I would like to help and learn how to modify the hull especially the Sherman M4a3e8, and at the same time know how to personalize my tanks; In the attached link there is an example of what I would like to do; Wookiee Monster has been working on the skin but need to modify the hull

Do you have any experience with 3D software such as 3DS Max or Maya? Thats the kind of software required to do what you want to do. Well actually it's just the start

Hi, I'm actually just learning the use of Maya, and I feel like creating and contributing with historical models of tanks.

Once you get proficient with Maya and know how to edit the models properly it should be fairly easy to teach you how to export the models. Just be aware that you'll need 3ds Max 2012 32-bit for properly exporting models.

Hi guys.... I just wanted to jump in this convo.

I wrote a tank exporter and importer tool a few years back that allowed you to import and export the tank models..

This basically worked by exporting in FBX format... Editing the model.. loading the original primitive in my tool.. than Importing the model FBX over it and saving it in .primitive format.

The reason for loading the original primitive was to "grab" the data that was not exported using FBX. My program found the changes in things like mesh size and UV sets and cut that data or added fill data to keep the vertices format correct... (Its complex)

A lot of changes took place with the models when WG went to the ".primitive_processed" format. They also added tanks with canvas weighted meshes around guns.

Look at the USA T-57 tier 10. It has canvas all around between the gun and the turret.
I can load the new formats easily and export the FBX.. I can NOT export the weight map for the canvas.. In fact... I've never tried.

Anyway.. I had a fully working imported and exported on CURSE for a while.. it was downloaded over 20k times and only one person ever bothered to donate 30 bucks so, when all the changes came and I was looking at the work needed to make it fully working again I decided not to do the work.

I have been putting most of my WoT programming efforts in to Terra.. the only stand alone map loader I know of. It's also a clan battle design tool were you can set up 2 teams by placing tanks on the map.  https://www.facebook...lplanner?ref=hl

Milky has posted some great resources... If you want to learn about modding, that's a good place to start.

Here is the link to a tool based on parts from my original Tank Editor code SkaceKamen wrote... https://github.com/S...model-converter
