The current tutorials are light years ahead of what it once was to start out.

This game isn't a FPS that you can learn and do well in at 20 games played. Its not CoD and its not Battlefield. Its not for everyone.

If you "tried" as hard with the new player as you did to sh*t on the game here it might have turned out better. I doubt you did the game any favours, or the new player.

At 1764 battles since 2012 you can't even call it trying.

+10

We may disagree sometimes but generally I love your contrite replies.

Ponzi schemes always run out of new people eventually.

Compared to the old tutorial, the new one is far superior and teaches important things.  Does it need more tweaking?  Sure.  But it's hardly the failure you've described.

We don't need players like your buddy.

There was no boot camp or tutorials at all when I started playing wot, no tankrewards, personal missions, monthly missions, on tracks, we had half the nation trees, more than 2 tiers spread MM, fewer maps, and  you could only find in mods most of the features that are now part of the  game. There were arty parties that could make  today recruits uninstall on the spot. The physics were boring, no jumping from cliffs, no drowning.

You really had to like the concept of the game to keep playing, and I think it's the same now. Nobody will stay if they don't like the concept of the game, no new maps or arty removal or skill based MM or whatever the excuse will make them happy.

I found "the good old days" back in the beta-just released version of the game more enjoyable to start with. Tutorials kill games for me, especially when I have to sit through 10 minutes worth of common sense things to pick up on the 3 or 4 tips that I need. Tutorial videos and documents that pop up at least let you skip forward to the parts you need and ignore the rest.

I've left and come back to this game with months/year between sessions and the shear amount of "busyness" that the game now has in the GUI on the garage screen is off-putting most of the time. Missions... rewards... etc. there's just an overload of information bombarding a new player at every turn when the enter the game and don't actually know anything yet.

The game used to be straightforward - This is a tank. Those are the enemy. Start battle and kill enemy. Repeat. Easy to learn, difficult to mast, as it goes. Now, they seem to have ramped up the learning curve by fluffing it full of crap a new player doesn't need and won't find useful until they've already had a few dozen battles under their belt.

Hmm, is that why he has so many +1s

There are more than enough mentally challenged, wearing orthopedic toques to get him the upvotes he seeks.

Doesn't make him correct. Doesn't even make him less stupid.

I mean you probably gave him an upvote and what do you know?

I do see you enjoyed a bit of low tier seal clubbing, once upon a time a long time ago.

Good job you worthless PoS.

You post in a thread about what's driving new players away, and you proudly post it using your alternate seal clubbing account because you're soooo impressed with those seal clubbing stats.

What a total hypocrite moron you are.

I believe he means it's too much like a game that can be played on one's phone, and therefore it fails to be complex enough and/or properly utilize computers' abilities.

Has anyone seen the new player's tutorial??

Wow !!! what a joke!!!

It offers nothing but the urge to log out and find another game

No wonder this game is suffering from lack of new players......right from the start the new player I was helping didn't want anything to do with this game

Oh well .....I tried...wasn't expecting to see complete crap from the start but WG is famous for breaking that which was once great in the eyes of certain people

Why do you guys spend so much time complaining about a game you don't play?  No one cares...please go away .

I never used any tutorial for this game. There is this new thing called Google and YouTube where you can search a game to get all the info you could ever want, if you take the time. Imagine that....more like lack of players who have common sense.

The new player I just brought in is already gone after 1 battle

Reviewed the tutorial and left before finishing it and after 1 standard battle the dude said this game sucks and left

When the game is compared to something you can download off of your phone its pretty much a dumb game

Way to go WG!!! Now lets destroy Warships because we know how much you enjoy its revenue!!

That is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard.

If your friend quit after only 1 battles, that is not the game's fault.  It is quite obvious that your "friend" was just not into this type of game....or his opinion was influenced and set even before he tried to play....maybe he is hanging out with the wrong people.

  • The in-game tutorial has been the same for as long as I can remember....and millions of players were not put off by it.
  • New players now have many incentives like free XP, free equipment, premium time, gold, and many other things.  Something that most of us that have been playing this game for quite awhile did not have when we started playing.
  • The Tank Academy is actually pretty good and players can get a free premium tank just for completing it.

Oh ok... never mind all the shell, armour, and spotting mechanics that these two probably have no clue about...

the NA consumer base is much more thirsty for the highest-end most advanced games, the consumers here are smart enough not to invest in an obsolete game like Wot.

When I see the NA consumer buying year after year the latest hyped turd from EA / Ubisoft / Activision I very much doubt of this supposed intelligence.

If I did the search correctly, the first week of Aug 2016 had 198k active players in the NA. This month there are 175k active players.

That's only a 10% drop. Hardly dying.
