Keep in mind these 2 tanks are both buffed in 9.20. I've played both extensively in common test. I cannot decide which to go after. The M48 seems sluggish but its turret and front hull armor are very reliable. The Centurian has much better all around mobility, less reliable armor (even with the turret buff), but 1 extra degree of gun depression. I find the guns to be very similar on the 2 tanks.  Out of several T10 mediums I've played on CT, including all of the Russians, these 2 have been my favorites so far. I like the gun depression and being able to work terrain.

Thoughts?

I'd say the M48 inches out as my pick just a little bit because of its view range and the incoming armor buffs.

Now what I'm waiting for is to see STB1 HD model and hopefully an aimtime buff...oh boy if that thing got a decent aimtime buff it would be an absolute monster of a tank.

Patton of course. Even right now it's a better tank than AX.

Can't say much about the British line other than I've heard it's mediocre at best. The American "grind" isn't really much of a grind at T8+ the Pershing and M46 were both pretty enjoyable. Especially the M46. It didn't even feel like a grind IMO

The M48 is already better than the AX.

Now it's gonna be a LOT better.

M48. I sold my AX awhile ago, it's over matched at tier 10.

AX is used in CW as an actual tank when people are trying to win. Patton is used in CW as a joke.

a lot of us like working terrain.  sadly too many maps are flat concrete jungles.

both tanks can be fun on rolling terrain, in pub matches.

  • if crew trainers are part of the equation, the US line has more premiums to train the crews, and if you get bored of the patton you can always retrain the crew for other lines that are useful in personal missions, and/or at times 'meta' tanks for tourney/competitive play.
  • if you have a cromwell b, you would also have a zero xp BIA crew and could cross train the crew in tier 6 strongholds.

I haven't purchased either on my main account:

  • I stopped at the T20, and free xp'ed the Pershing fully researched but never played it.
  • I stopped at the Cent 7/1 and liked it enough to put digicamo on it, but haven't played it in a while.

basically I'm at a point where 70%+ of the maps in any given battle session directly detract from my enjoyment of the game, so I've stopped acquiring non-meta tanks out of boredom and frustration with 3+ years of garbage brawling maps...

m48 will have superior turret armor

but Centurion will have superior speed(which is a big thing for meds), and if aiming down on the enemy, it will be stronger due to front mounted turret and no cupola weakspot.

so general use M48   vs specialized Centurion.

personally, i going M48 cause the crew i got for it is 5 skill.  and armor on turret will make it not a pathetic joke of a tank.

but for CW, centurion will probably still be prefered due to it being better at its situational role,   while M48's "general good at all, best at none" isn't as ideal in specialized tank battles.

still gonna use M48 personally...

My bad. Misread. British are next patch after this one. So, that's a bonus, because I thought I was playing with the updated turret armor and I was doing well.

I have both, and the Patton is better currently, and I believe will continue to be better post-buffs. The extra speed is certainly nice with the CAX, but it's not enough to overcome the gun handling, view range, etc advantages that the Patton has IMO.

The Patton will be the better tank. Its already the better tank. The fact is getting buffed is silly, and to be honest the armor buffs for the Centurions arent going to help them. Get the Patton and have a laser gun, which will have turret armor next patch.
